Hello! Welcome to our vampyrism blog. We are a Sanguinarian and Eros/Sexual Vampyre. Hoping to connect with the community over here(if there is any), post about our experiences, post info on the VC, answer any questions outsiders or newcomers have about the community, and anything else we feel like posting about the VC. 🦇🍷
⚠️ Be warned! Naturally, this blog will contain mentions of blood, and non-descriptive sexuality/sexual acts. ⚠️
Hello! Here’s some information about my various gifts and possible vampiric traits?
A bit of my background and how I grew up:
So my intuition has always been heightened since I was a child and my psychic and magical abilities are strong within me. I believe it to be a strong innate gift for myself personally. It’s always been awakened since a very young age around 7-8 years old. I’ve always had an awareness of my gifts and feeling different long before I discovered the word psychic or knew anything of the occult. I’ve always known that the spirit realm and the spirits within it exist since I was a child. I remember having a strong inner calling/pull that I’m a psychic witch and being extremely curious of the supernatural and knowing vampires, spirits, etc all exist.
My visions and dreams of my spirit companions/animal guides have always been with me, but it’s as if it only enhanced after a strong spiritual or nonhuman awakening in 2015.
I have had a sense of detachment from the mundane world, easily connecting to my wolf spirit companions just by setting an intention before going to sleep, my deep innate connection to nature and animals of all kinds, feeling and sensing the energy at random, etc.
Now I have fed on real blood as well through a donor of mine to test it out last year in November. I recall feeling a “high” and my prey drive enhancing, feeling my psychic gifts increase in intensity, needing more blood, desires to sink my teeth into someone, etc. The problem is that I never felt this way until now? Like why am I feeling the need to feed on life-force energy to this day after my first experience in feeding as an adult? I don’t know. Lots of vampire traits develop when you’re in puberty from what I understand.
Yes, I have gone to sang vampires online at least. Some say I sound like a vampire and others say I’m not because “it’s a fantasy. There are real medical vampires.” Things like that.
What do you think? I’d like to know! Thanks!!
Apologies in advance, I'll be over explaining to cover all bases because I don't know how much you already know about the community
It seems to me like one of the communities you went to is for medical sanguinarians, or renfield's syndrome(also know as clinical vampirism). Med sangs consider their need for blood to be purely medical in nature. Renfield's syndrome is psychiatric, it's characterized by delusions of vampirism/ compulsion to consume blood.
You may want to look into psychic vampyrism as well as sanguine. Many sanguine vampyres feed on the life force in the blood when they partake in blood drinking. The very same life force that most psychic vampyres feed on. In these cases, the main thing differentiating these two types of vampyrism is the mode in which they most naturally feed and how the vampyre personally prefers to label themself. All this to say psychic vampyres can feed on blood, should they choose to. Some even get cravings for blood.
I bring them up because of your history with psychic ability. From what I understand(as someone who is not really a psychic vampyre), heightened psychic abilities and being naturally psychic are common in psi vamps. If you believe this aspect of yourself to be related to your potential vampyrism, you'll probably have much better luck finding people who relate to your experiences in the psychic vampyre community or among hybrids.
(My definitions post, meant to cover the most general community consensus.)
Now, getting symptoms later in life isn't unheard of in the VC. Theres this term I've seen go around, "latent vampire". Admittedly, I don't know a lot about it. But here's the only definition I could find:
"Someone who is already naturally a vampire, but whose vampiric tendencies have not yet manifested. Apparently, some latent vampires may need to be “turned” or “awakened”, while others may have their tendencies “activated” by indeterminate causes. Latent vampires sometimes seem to stand out to other, already established vampires through a phenomenon known as the “Beacon”. (See also “awakening”, “beacon”, “turned”.)"
Ultimately, no one can determine whether or not you're a vampyre for you, at least not over the internet. Some do believe vampyres have their own energy signature, thus maybe it's something you could divine on, or ask a trusted spirit about. Choosing the vampyre label is a personal thing. You'll have to do your own self discovery to figure out if its right for you, but I will put a few resources you can go through to hopefully help the process.
Mundane possibilities:
Undiagnosed medical problems (Anemia, Pica, chronic illness, Porphyria, iron deficiency etc) - It's good practice to consult a doctor and make sure you don't have a medical condition causing your symptoms
Maladaptive Daydream Disorder - A disorder characterized by excessive, vivid day dreaming that inhibits day to day functioning.
Delusions - There are misconceptions that delusional people always have zero self awareness about their delusions, and can't know that their delusions are delusions. This is not true, a part of yourself may be fully immersed in the delusion, while other parts are self aware. It's complicated stuff, it may be worth seeing a psychologist about (applies to the one above as well)
In my opinions, spiritual communities like the VC, witch, psychic, etc, do not place enough emphasis on the importance of staying mentally grounded when exploring the occult. Keeping your sense of reality in check is very important, especially with your aforementioned "detachment from the mundane world". I say these things with love and respect, as an occultist with a dissociative disorder and psychotic traits. The psychological consequences to over immersing yourself in the occult can be immense
Here are some grounding techniques (psychological not spiritual)
Alternative Spiritual possibilities:
You mentioned a nonhuman awakening, is your kintype/theriotype a predator? If so there may be correlation there
Temporary energy deficiency (Sympathetic Vampirism) - Some in the community believe that one can temporarily take on vampyric traits and symptoms when the amount of life force in their energy system is disturbed. Mainly being fed on too much by vampyre(s), but perhaps such a thing could also be caused by parasitic spirits, or giving up too much of your life force to charge a spell, etc
Vampyric resources:
Website - Nightside Nexus (formerly The Vampyre Coven)
Website - Project V, You may want to consider joining the discord if you're looking for an active online vampyre community space. They are friendly towards questioning vampyres
Book - The Psychic Vampire Codex, Michelle A. Belanger
Website - Atlantic Vampire Alliance
Book - Vampires Today: The Truth about Modern Vampires
I plan on making a post with as many resources as I can find eventually as well. Good luck with your self discovery journey, I hope I've at least given you a good starting point!

I don't see anyone else talking about this in the vampyre community, and I wonder whether anyone else experiences this too. Some of our earliest memories of vampyric cravings were for flesh, not blood. I remember being 12-13 years old and being so overwhelmed with these urges that it'd keep me awake at night. I remember for years, thinking I'm destined to do something terrible. Don't get me wrong, I was not and still aren't a violent person. I wouldn't even consider these urges violent, I never fantasized about the murder that would have to ensue to get to the cannibalism. The urges were never accompanied by anger, only hunger.
It isn't as frequent anymore, but when I'm particularly starved, those urges come back. The label "vampyre" is cathartic for me because of these urges. Finding this community meant I wasn't destined to be a serial killer. And it meant that I can sate that hunger without seriously harming anyone or myself. I'm sure most people in the community can relate, even if its not exactly the same.
I guess all this to say, if you're a vampyre or sanguinarian and your urges are for more than just blood, welcome to the club. And if you don't know what the vampyre community is but are relating to this post, you may want to check it out. I honestly think I would've had my awakening much earlier if stuff like this was discussed more. For a long time I didn't care for blood at all.
Do note, these definitions speak to my personal understandings, and some people who use these terms may not strictly fit into the definitions I've laid out. Beliefs vary from person to person in the vampyric community, so some may disagree.
☙ Sanguine Vampyre
Also known as Blood Vampyres or Sanguinarians
Individuals who have a need to consume (sometimes strictly human) blood, to the point of getting ill in the absence of it. This is accompanied by cannibalistic urges that intensify when going long periods of time without "feeding". Beliefs as to why they have this need vary, some believe their need is for the vital energy/life force that is concentrated in the blood.
☙ Medical Sanguinarian
Often shorten to Med Sang, also Sanguinarians
Individuals who have a medical or psychological need for blood, or who's need for blood/practice of feeding on blood is medical or psychological in nature. This is a term for people who believe their vampiric nature is purely mundane, and non-spiritual, but otherwise experience the same consequences as any other sanguinarian.
☙ Psychic Vampyre
Also known as Energy Vampyres, or Psi Vampyres
Individuals who have a need for the energy, typically energy humans radiate, often life force/vital energy. They, similarly to sanguinarians, get ill in the absence of energy and experience strong cravings for energy. There are a few different types of psychic vampyre, though the term "psychic vampyre" also works as a stand-alone term.
My personal distinction between a psychic vampyre who feeds on life force and a sanguine vampyre who feeds on the same thing is the mode in which they feed. Where a sanguine vampyre would feed by physically consuming the blood to get the life force, an energy vampyre could feed psychically with no need for blood at all. This is not to say psi vampyres never feed on blood though.
☙ Eros Vampyre
Also known as Sexual Vampyres, and a type of Psychic Vampyrism
Individuals who have a need for sexual energy, to the point of getting ill in the absence of it. Not to be confused with hypersexuality, kink, or fetish (though these things can coexist). These individuals may passively feed on the sexual energy of those they flirt with or tease, or the energy produced during sex or orgasm.
☙ Empathetic Vampyre
Also known as Emotional Vampyres, and a type of Psychic Vampyrism
Individuals who have a need for emotional energy, to the point of getting ill in the absence of it. These people can feed on any strong emotion, though some have preferences. Despite their reputation, emotional vampyres are not inherently malicious in nature. These people usually feed consentually and/or in a way that doesn't cause harm to the people they feed on.
There is a second definition in the psychological community (emotional vampire), this being a person who makes you feel emotionally drained and displays self-centered, attention seeking, or otherwise emotionally draining behavior. This term is often used in an ableist way towards pwNPD, HPD, or BPD (more on this below). Some unawakened psychic vampyres (vampyres who are unaware of their condition) may display these tendencies.
☙ Elemental Vampyre
A type of Psychic Vampyrism
Individuals who have a need for elemental energy i.e. fire, water, air, or earth, to the point of getting ill in the absence of it. These people may feed on any natural source of energy, some examples being lightening or thunderstorms, crystals, winds, the land, even celestial bodies like solar or lunar energy. They may have preferences for the type of elemental energy they prefer to feed on.
☙ Hybrid
Could be a combination of any type of Vampyrism
Individuals who identify with multiple types of vampyrism, most commonly psychic and sanguine. Some hybrids only need to feed in one or the other way to be sated, while others need to feed in multiple ways/ on multiple energy sources to be sated. From what I gather, this term is somewhat outdated.
For those who are wondering why we are spelling "vampire" as "vampyre", it serves the purpose of distinguishing fictional and mythical vampires from the real people who suffer from vampyrism. It also helps to distinguish from other vampire communities, e.g. vampiric magic or vampirism(you can practice vampirism without being a vampyre), and vampirekin.
How do vampyres and vampirekin differ? Vampyres still identify as human (unless they're also otherkin like us). Vampyres are humans with a vampyric affliction(spiritual, medical, or psychological) that causes their need for blood or energy. While vampirekins may be completely unafflicted, identify as nonhuman, and often identify with media or mythological vampires. Though, some people may be both vampirekin and a vampyre.
❦ The Common Threads ❦
There are a few commonalities between people who identify as vampyres, regardless of the personal beliefs behind the origins of ones vampyrism, or type of vampyrism. This being the illness, and "the need", or "the hunger".
There are no set "symptoms" for vampyrism, just a few common ones that a lot of vampyres share. And the severity to which the vampyre experiences these symptoms may vary as well. By far the most common symptom I've seen shared amongst vampyres is fatigue or tiredness. Some other common ones are photosensitivity, malaise, headaches, insomnia, hypersomnia, irritability, stomach problems, brain fog, and weakness. Some vampyres may have none of the symptoms listed, this is a very general overview of potential symptoms. If you are a questioning vampyre, I urge you to seek medical intervention first and foremost. Even if you've already gotten checked out once and nothing came of it, some chronic illnesses cannot be easily tested for and may take years to diagnose. You can be chronically ill and also be a vampyre of course, we personally believe our disability to be separate but connected to our vampyrism, and that vampyrism worsens our disability.
And then there is what I will refer to as "the hunger". The hunger is the overwhelming desire for, and urges relating to blood or energy. This can manifest as physical feelings of hunger or thirst. The hunger is very primal in nature, it doesn't know morality. When someone is overwhelmed by their hunger, it can cause them to make poor decisions they wouldn't make otherwise (e.g. an eros vampyre having wreckless one night stands). It is the vampyres responsibility to rein it in and not act on their urges inappropriately. The hunger can become very overwhelming if the vampyre hasn't fed in long stretches of time. The worsening of the hunger usually goes hand in hand with worsening illness. Sometimes the hunger can cause symptoms akin to an adrenaline rush, like restlessness, increased drive, and so on.
❦ The Strange Spiritualized Ableism of "Emotional Vampires" ❦
You may have heard the term "emotional vampire" or "psychic vampire" used before to describe very insufferable people, the kind of people who terrorize customer service workers, or a step mother who complains incessantly. And you've probably seen "narcissist" in the same sentence.
Assuming that every person who has a victim complex, is self-centered, is attention-seeking, or is just an asshole must have NPD, HPD, or BPD is ableist. People with cluster B personality disorders are not inherently evil, and you've probably met someone with one or multiple of these disorders and never even noticed. There are a lot of people who diagnose every annoying, self-centered, or abusive person with a cluster B disorder, even to the point of spiritualizing it. Yes, spiritualize, some people believe pwNPD or other cluster B disorders are siphoning and feeding on the energy of others. This is one of the most bizarre forms of ableism I've ever come across, and I implore anyone who comes across it not to engage with it.
