I'm so used to only half paying attention to this show that I missed most of what was said leading up to the kiss but I could still tell that it was going THERE and after rewatching the scene, it's even more painfully obvious. The casual flirting, the unnecessary closeness, the framing.

I didn't hear Buck say that it was Tommy's attention he wanted and my immediate thought now is, "Why would you want another man's attention, Buck, if not for non-platonic reasons?"

I'm really happy with this new development. Buck has always been open, seeking more out of life and willing to try new things and especially looking for love - and attention - wherever he could find it. Will it last? Probably not. They may not be on FOX anymore but ABC is also notorious for their mishandling of queer/gay relationships. But it adds new possibilities for Buck, which is what he deserves after being forced into so many purposeless relationships over the years. And Oliver, too. If it were up to him, this would've happened 3 seasons ago.

It's been a day since I finished Young Royals and I can't seem to move on. It's just so... Addictive isn't even the word. For as short as it was, and even with a storyline that, at its core, wasn't that original, it made me very happy even as it left me in pain at the end.

It's just that I consume so much of this type of drama/movies, especially Asian BLs which, lordie, is a while other conversation altogether, and most of them leave me wanting in some way, if not downright disappointed. I keep trying to think of one thing that I didn't like about Young Royals and I simply can't find it.

But one thing that I do have to give the writers major credit for is making Simon a fully fleshed-out character in his own right and not just giving him what I refer to as the 'love interest treatment'. We didn't only see him when he was on screen with Wilhelm; we got to know his family, friends and his personal desires for himself and his future. We got to see him interact with other main characters in side-storylines that had nothing to do with Wilhelm. And, perhaps most importantly, his main conflicts had nothing to do with his sexuality. He also didn't act like some know-it-all guru just because he was out and confident. It was an aspect of his character but he wasn't defined by it. Tbh, I think this is one of the most balanced screen times and nuanced development I've seen for a main cast in a long time.

That's always one of my biggest gripes with ensemble casts, and especially the development of love interests. And not to throw 'Love, Victor' under the bus but it was one of my biggest disappointments in S2 because they promised so much more Benji and yes, there was more Benji, but how much screen time and development did he get individually and outside of his relationship with Victor? It's just something that continues to befuddle me considering how they so obviously make an effort to ensure that all of the other characters are well-rounded and get fair amounts of screen time.

Anyway, going through withdrawals. Please bring on the fmvs, fics, etc. I have two months of vacation ahead and way too much time on my hands...

I feel like I'm the only one that does not claim Sara. I'm sorry, but no.

We were good up until she decided to use her brother's pain and humiliation as currency to climb the school social ladder. And we were 100% done when she literally fkd August without a care for the bro who's done everything for her, and who, I reiterate, August screwed over, and Felice(even if she didn't want him).

For a second, it looked like she was going to do the right thing when she and Simon had their little heart to heart but nope, it was Felice, who had nothing to gain and owed neither boy anything, that stepped up out of the goodness of her heart and found out the truth.

And I feel like her little tirade about how Simon needs to care less about others and think about himself was a peek into her own selfish innerworkings. She's aware, at least. I also like how they initially set Felice up to potentially be the mean rich girl but subverted the trope by actually making her really sweet. The subversion works both ways because Sara was initially portrayed as nice and innocent (to the horse at least) if a little awkward due to her disorders and she wound up being the true snake. Touché. I'm even more curious about why they had to change schools now.

But back to my main point: I keep seeing people lumping her and Felice together as if she's some saint. Did we watch the same show? How can you love Simon and root for him and Wille yet not be concerned or angry about his sister's betrayal (that he still doesn't know about)? Sure, her telling him/them wouldn't have made a difference but he's been taking care of her the entire show and he actually admitted, at his lowest, that he needed her. This was her chance to do right by him and she didn't.

Please watch this show. Netflix did not do it justice with proper promotion, as usual, despite it being one of the best teen shows they've made in years. Only fan power and views will guarantee S2. It's only 6 eps but it's so good and for once, the gay couple is the main.

My version of the English subtitles for the epilogue/easter egg of 《山河令》 because the youtube subtitles were giving me hives lol.

Notice that Deng Kuan’s son is practicing Wen Kexing’s family’s sword technique, Qiuming Eighteen Forms, so Wen Kexing probably taught Chengling (and maybe the other 18 disciples of Siji Manor) eventually, for it to be passed down.

And of course, Wen Kexing is quoting Sunzi’s Art of War to argue with his A-Xu haha.

There’s also a comparison vid floating out there somewhere showing how this final sparring session between Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu is actually a mirror of the first time they sparred over the lake in ep6, except that Zhou Zishu is using Wen Kexing’s moves against him.
