The Vampire Lestat 3.01
I guess I’ll speak here about my feelings on episode 3.1 since I’m sure someone will care
Straight up I think I just love Louis Lestat much more.. and I just felt they did too much. Like No I don’t think they should be having sex, and I’m aware that’s a far out take— most people seem to be eating it up. It just felt trashy and I don’t think Lestat is trashy… he literally loves educating himself and searching for meaning and perfection. This Lestat was doing things I just didn’t expect him to do. Book Lestat’s band is all lowkey hot and these ppl were not? Supposed to be Mysterious and seductive and alluring. This was like The Dirt and who tf thinks Motley Crue is hot in awywhere NEAR the same way as Lestat.
On top of that him and his mom, Gabrielle, were not that incesty, and I really feel they’re dramatizing it a lot for some reason. It feels a lot like they are banking on taboo themes (I understand the books have a lot of these but they are not as much
As for the writing? Do you all really think Lestat is a rambler.. uhhh not me. And I really hope he doesn’t just monologue every episode in a similar way. I get he ended up being high on many drugs for most of the episode— but he was bad before that lol
Now my real issue is is when Lestat starts a band in the books, because of reading IWTV, he fully knows and wants the other vampires to see him and is prepared to avoid them. Celebrities do it even now, keeping their lives private, they don’t need dopplegangers when they know how to avoid paparazzi and in the books Lestat knows how to do that. Idk why they added a doppelgänger .
But yeah, hes insulted that Louis did it first; all the exposing of vampires and lying on his name. But mostly he wants to show off ever more, he literally loves to preform and seduce, and he’s just not doing that here for me. He seems more like he’s doing it because he has severe ADHD and many other problems. So why tf is he crying to his mom that he got himself in too deep. Those few vampires that attacked him should not have been able to hurt him much either tbh, with Akashas blood and all, but whatever.
Anyway when Lestat was alone and quietly himself I loved him. I just never imagined him to be so loud when to me he’s A Sensitive Young Man.
I’ve only watched in once and plan to watch it a couple more times before the next episode airs and I hope I grow to like it more? I more so hope the next episode repairs my initial reaction.
