“Alright, monsters, I’m off, you be good with Dawa. I’m just with friends, you can call anytime. I love you” After kissing each of their heads, Amy slipped out of the house before the hypnotic effect of the Paw Patrol wore off and they started questioning her comings and goings. Bless their little curious brains, they would for sure have been all over her and probably caught her in a lie. For a great improviser, Amy was a horrible liar. But she also wasn’t ready to tell the truth to her children. The past year was hard enough on them, they needed some stability for a while. The last thing they needed was to get the idea that their parents were back together, not while it was still so new and may not even last. But while they needed to find their footing again after everything, what she needed was to feel good, to do things for herself and right now, Will was offering it all to her. They said they’d take it slow and see where it went, but their clandestine meetings were getting more and more frequent.
Maybe it was reckless, maybe it was stupid, bound to repeat previous messes, but there was an undeniable chemistry between them, not always positive but for sure electric. For every painful hard lows, they had such wonderful highs. And maybe they’d crash and burn once the bubble popped, in which case she’d be glad not to have given any false hope to the boys, but maybe, just maybe, they could make it work this time, they had matured and been through enough, it might just be fine. She walked a couple blocks around, finally reached his car and slid in easily. “You know, I’m getting into all this secret thing. It’s very hot.” She smirked and leaned in for kiss, sighing a little against his lips. This just felt so right.

To say that Will and Amy had history, a complicated history, was an understatement to say the least. They always seemed to be some version of up or down. For a few years it had been a lot of downs. It seemed like The two of them couldn’t be around each other without being incredibly toxic to each other, but they also couldn’t seem to quit each other. With kids in the mix and both of them living in Vancouver, they were bound to run into each other. The last few months had been explosive (with some intermittent sex strewn in). Finally, everything exploded. Will ended up in the hospital and then in rehab. Amy ended up in the hospital due to exhaustion from all the stress. It was like both of them had to reach their physical breaking point to end up back together in a good place.
Sobriety was hard. It was one of the hardest things Will had ever done. He was ten months sober now. Ten months and seven days. Every day he still fought against the urge . It was like a demon that was constantly following him, telling him that he could keep it under control now. That he needed it. Of course Will knew that these were just lies. He attended enough AA and NA meetings to know that. Although, that was a little more complicated when you were a celebrity. It was more just having a special sponsor then getting to actually go to meetings. Will also knew that no matter how long he was sober, it only took one second to break it. There was so much at risk. There was so much more to lose now that him and Amy were on good terms. They had even begun dating again-- taking it slow and seeing if it was a possibility of something that could happen.
Sitting in his ‘97 Mustang a few blocks away from where Amy and his kids lived, Will waited for the blonde to arrive. Tapping his thumbs against the steering wheel to the beat of the light music coming from the stereo. It was Bob Dylan or Tom Petty-- Will wasn’t really paying attention, too busy waiting for his ex-wife to appear. Seeing her turn the corner, Will leaned over and unlocked the passenger door, pushing it open for her. “Well, you know that I like to do things hot, baby,” Will’s deep voice filled the car, as he leaned in and kissed her back deeply. “Where to, Amycakes?”
