Well I know where we'll be on Thursday.
The new NEEDLES//PINS record, 12:34, comes out tomorrow.
If you're as overeager as we are, the whole thing is streaming right now.
Finally.
Sightlines has released their Summer EP. And the best part is that it's free (actually, the best part is that it kicks a ton of ass).
It's never too early to start your summer.
Mixtape #21: This Has Nothing To Do With Anything (Pumpernickel)
We spent a fantastic day at the Main Street Record Fair and then popped over to Red Cat to fetch our Music Waste passes. AND SCHEDULES. Which, to be honest, we were more excited for than the passes.
The show consisted of us playing some of the new singles that we purchased that day and gushing about some of the bands that are playing at Music Waste.
Amazingly, Liz held it together this time around.
1. "Dying Breed" - Slam Dunk
2. "PCS" - Crystal Swells
3. "Nu Sundae" - The Courtneys
4. "Sunday Best" - Hermetic
5. "The Penitent Years" - Role Mach
6. "Take The Mirror" - White Lung
7. "I Heart Your Drugs" - Needles//Pins
8. "Evil's Sway" - Japandroids
9. "Summer 2009, with Stereos on the Backs of Our Bikes" - Cascadia

Mixtape #20: Super Special Rainy May Long Weekend Spectacular
Everything started off nicely! There was sun! Heat! Promises of no school or work!
Naturally, it started to rain. But that didn't get us down; we got ice cream to spite the rain.
But needless to say, we suffered some remorse. Liz especially. She lost her mind a bit, but provided us with a much needed laugh track to boost our spirits (as I'm sure it did yours).
Jesse, on the other hand, went to a bunch of shows on the weekend and scored himself some new vinyl, which he was eager to play.
1. "These Kids" - The High Drops
2. "Nervous Breakdown" - Shimmering Stars
3. "I Will live Together" - Hemogoblin
4. "Non-Families of Grandview Park" - So You Think You Can Sleep

Here is a video Mode Moderne released for "Nightly Youths" a little while back.
They have their record release show on Saturday night with Dead Ghosts at the Biltmore Cabaret.
We Were Pretending To Be - Half Chinese
This is something we're totally digging, right now. Do yourself a favour: Go to their bandcamp and download it.
PLZ & THX.
Mixtape #19: Nothing As It Seems
With all of the new music that is due in the next couple of months, we decided that it was only best that we played as much new music as possible.
At the same time, the weather was unreasonably summer-ish. So, naturally, we had to load the list with as much pop punk as possible.
Also, we couldn't help ourselves, but we dusted off some old 7" records, including early versions of some Mixtape favourites.
1. "Whitmore" - Half Chinese
2. "Drop It" - NEEDLES//PINS
3. "PYT" - Philoceraptor
4. "Little Bit" - Bad Channels
5. "Gospel Problems" - EEEK!
6. "I WIsh There Was Something We Could Call You People" - NEEDS
7. "Only Fun" - Slam Dunk

14. "Landmark" - Apollo Ghosts
I can't seem to find... oh HERE it is
"Never Forever" (Live) - Dead Soft
Here's a kick ass new track from Dead Soft, recorded at their show last week at Venue.
Mixtape #18: Less Talk, More Rock
We decided to let things roll on this one.
We had a ton of new music that we were super eager to push on our listeners, so we just kind of shut up and let the music rip.
When we did talk, however, we briefly discussed Vancouver artists in the festival scene outside of Vancouver, as well as the Music Waste 2012 lineup (as per their Flickr account).
This was our longest playlist to date, so enjoy!
1. "I'm In Love WIth the USA" - Apollo Ghosts
2. "Cobra" - Yung Mums
3. "Royal Bummer" - Vision Loser
4. "Prequel" - Gang Signs
5. "Stranger Thoughts" - Village

Mixtape #17: Guest Curators w/ Eric Axen (of Hermetic and Sightlines)
This show was a huge show for us.
It's no secret that we are big fans of both Hermetic and Sightlines, so to have Eric on the show was a huge honour.
Naturally, we talk about both the Hermetic LP and the Sightlines EP that are coming out this spring. On top of that, Eric coordinated our playlist with music from his bandmates and friends, unified under a single theme, one that I'm sure that most musicians can relate to.
Also, if you don't have Civilized City yet, time for you to re-evaluate your priorities.
1. "Revenge Comedy" - Hermetic
2. "Police" - So You Think You Can Sleep
3. "Cancellation's Free" - Pedagogues

9. "Don't Worry About The Fire" - Heavy Steps
10. "Dive" - Safety Show
Revisit the past... HERE
Mixtape 16: Dear, The Future. Love, The Past.
This sucker was pre-recorded as we were down in Californ-EYE-EH.
We tried to be as free flowing and live as possible, but sometimes things just got so bad that I'm pretty sure we would have been kicked right off the air.
Also, I'm pretty sure that the first thing they teach you in Radio School is never to acknowledge the technical side of Radio while producing segments.
We've never been to Radio School before.
1. Ben's Tour - Weed
2. Jack the Ripper - Japandroids
3. First Mistake - Shitty Neighbours
4. Stairway - Yukon Blonde
5. Walkin' Wolf - Elvis Was a Blonde

Mixtape #15: Pre-Record Store Day Hype Show! (Featuring Jamie T.)
Considering our show aired after Record Store Day, which took place on the 21st, we thought it would be a great idea to let our listeners in on some of the activities that would be happening on what we like to call "Unofficial Local Music Boner Day",
Accompanied by our good friend and special guest Jamie T. (we like to keep things as confusing as possible here that the 'Tape), we talked a lot about some of the venues, shows, but primarily why the day was of particular importance to us (aside from the fact that spinning vinyl on air makes us feel legit).
We even got nostalgic and discussed some of our favourite Record Store Day memories.
Hope your RSD was as much of a party as ours was (probably wasn't though).
1. "Viva Slam Dunkus" - Slam Dunk
2. "Twigs and Stones" - Siskiyou
3. "I Don't Always Know What You're Saying" - Ladyhawk
4. "Library Card Amulet" - Apollo Ghosts

7. "Don't Let It Go Down" - White Ash Falls
8. "European Oils" - Destroyer
9. "Something For Nothing" - Dead Soft
10. "Tofino" - Kith and Kin
