To everyone
I completely understand where you are coming from. I know it’s difficult to let go of something you’ve put so much time and effort into. How do you think we feel? We created nearly four hundred characters over the course of four years. We’ve managed everything that has been thrown our way– disrespectful members, anon attacks, wildly successful events and amazing fun times. We’ve beared it all with a smile.
The Disney Asylum has been managed by me and Libby for all this time. We’d like to remain the sole owners. We want to know where our rp is–where it started and where it ended. I’m sorry that we sprung this on you so quickly and without a warning. We should have thought more about that. But the truth of the matter is, many people have not been active. It seems a little unfair that people who are not constantly with us would like to have this rp continue. We are not a safety net, and we can’t have this open forever.
We also don’t want to give the reigns to anyone else. That’s a decision we both made and that is final. As for where to go from here, we are not saying that there’s anything wrong with going indie if you want to. We just want to make sure that our content, which we wrote belongs to us. Please remember that even though this is hard on you it is even harder on us.
It was never about you being a “safety net”, it was about you being our friends and being able to reunite with our friends after a tough exam, week, or even semester. We never took advantage of you. We never treated this RP with anything but respect, and to suggest that we viewed you as a “safety net” is hurtful. It was home for all of us, something we all loved. THAT is why we want it to continue, and I don’t see wanting something you love to continue as wrong or unfair at all.
It’s not wrong or unfair to want something you love to continue. Like I said, I understand where you guys are coming from. And we are not saying you can’t continue with your characters. We’re just really stressing that we do not want anyone to replicate our rp because that’d be really disrespectful . And we’re also stressing that we’ve agreed on not giving the rp away. We know you guys love the rp and we love it to, but we’ve decided to close it down. And to argue with us about this, is hurtful as well. We can’t continue the rp, and to ask us to continue or let it continue has made me feel, on my part, as if I’m expected to be there constantly. And I have been treated with disrespect, from members in the group and outside of the group. I’m not going to gloss over that. I’m also just asking that people respect the fact that Libby and I have created the rp and that we want to close it, and not give it away. That’s why we’re giving the option of carrying on your characters as indies. All we ask is that it isn’t copied, once again.
Other rpgs close without a question and members are just expected to move on, which is not something we want because we’re all a family. But we have made this decision.
I think it is just the fact that there wasn’t a heads up at all. But it is a little difficult to ask not to ‘copy’ the rp because Disney asylum rps are so popular. As for bios, i would keep mine since I did write it and I would ask that if this ever reopens for it not to be re-used here. But i agree–nobody should remake a roleplay with the bios the mods have written (and descriptions/rules/etc). But again, Disney Asylum roleplays are very popular.
We haven't copyrighted anything about Disney asylum rps. We ask that our bios and our content is not taken. I don't want to go into the tags and see a bio that's similar to the one I've written, yet not exactly the same because that's still a problem.
And again, I'm sorry we did t give you a heads up guys. We should have and it's not something we thought through, so again I'm sorry about that.
