Oh god oh god qwq can I ask what tool did you use in your Jane drawing? D: I'd be really thankfull if you would let me know ... I've asked other people before with the same painting technique D: just no one really bothered to answer my question ... Thanks in advance! I really liked the picture by the way, nice art!

I use Paint Tool SAI for drawing, and I made a crayon brush tool that I used in the Jane drawing

(For the Paper0 texture, I forgot where I got that one from so I’ll just link the image here. If you don’t know how to add SAI textures then there’s a tutorial here!)

When I lay down the base colors, I use an unholy amount of layers because I’m particular and make everything unnecessarily tedious. So if you want to use just one or a couple layers then I recommend turning Blending and Persistence down to 0 so the colors don’t blend.

After that I make a new layer (with “Clipping Group” turned on) above that. (If you used the few layers instead of a heckton turn the Blending and Persistence back to their values.) I turn the brush density anywhere from 97% to 89%. It’s never the same because I’m always changing it and don’t look for an exact value except for it to be usually above 90%.

Now for the blendy part (like on Jane’s pants) I turn the dilution up around 30-50% for less blending, and 50-80% for more blending. I never really pay attention to the numbers. Then I just do some strokes until it looks blended enough to me. Sometimes I alternate between normal brush mode and eraser brush mode (you can turn on eraser mode by pressing the little white and gray tiled square in the bottom-left corner of the area the colors are in. It erases with the exact same brush settings as the brush you’re using!)

Hey I made a design for the second Homestuck Design Contest! I spent literally 2-3 entire days working on this and am actually happy with the result.

I thought of a second design for the Homestuck design contest. I cannot believe I got this done so fast. I might think of a few more designs (designing these are fun, which I did not expect). Amazing how many ideas I can come up with when it’s in a timed limit. Wow.
