“hmm…” is all haneul can muster at first, arms still crossed over his chest as he slips down the chair a little. the blonde is too quick, too eager, too… delighted almost to share this information with him. she makes it come across as if she’s doing humanity a huge favour, but to the dhampir it sounds more like a witchhunt. if anything it makes him wonder what she would do if he messes up and she figures out what he really is, let alone how he relates to go jeon.
“i didn’t know him personally but i have heard of him.” haneul has heard the stories as well, those of how a trail of death and drugs followed his father everywhere he went. stories that had poked a hole in the image he had created for the father who didn’t have a face all those years ago. it’s essentially why he wants to get to the bottom of this so badly, to prove that his father wasn’t as bad of a man that the news was now claiming he was.
“so your guild, nightbane, was founded as some sort of counteraction against noctis.” it was not a question but more so a vocal summary of his thoughts, features stiff and unable to mimic her thrill. “as far as i know ara is still in charge, yes.” he answers, head tilting to the side a little impatiently since his precious stepmother is not exactly his preferred subject of this conversation.
“as someone who has been watching noctis for a while now, you must have seen a lot of people come and go, right? how exactly does one get in on their purpose? how is a tough coconut like ara supposed to be cracked?” finally leaning in again, he pops her the big question. there was no more need in pretending. why else would someone like him be looking into a clan like noctis anyway?
Aesin scrunched up her nose, thinking. This wouldn’t work – at least not like that. Of course he head heard of Go Jeon. Everyone had heard of him. Hell, his stupid face was plastered all over the news. It was like asking if someone had ever heard about ... King Sejeong or something.
“Mhmm...”, she hummed in agreement, but finally shook her head. “No, it wasn’t established against Noctis. Well, I guess it is easy to think that because Noctis just... Keeps coming up, right? In the beginnings it was just a guild filled with people who shared one thing in common – they had enough with the wrongdoings of vampires. So... Not only Noctis, I guess.”, Aesin shrugged.
She perked up a little at the mention of Ara – probably her favorite topic. What did he mean still in charge? As far as she knew there wasn’t anyone else powerful enough to take charge. This intrigued her and she studied the young male’s features. Huh. A dhampir looking for information on Noctis. A dhampir just like Aeri is. And both seem so suspicious. There was probably something going on behind her back.
Aesin scoffed. “Ara is not a coconut. Maybe you’re a coconut.”, she said, crossing her arms in front of her chest. How dare he. She proceeded to rub her neck, still looking at Haneul. “Besides Ara not being a coconut, I am not one hundred percent sure on how to get in there. Kinda seems like the mafia, you know? Gotta be family or maybe be there from the start. Maybe they have some kind of newcomer ritual where one sacrifices their soul and all of their personal belongings? I don’t know. Maybe there’s an application. There are ways to ask, though.”
