Why CS is the ship of dreams
Now I’ve never really done meta for ONCE and I wouldn’t go so far as to say this piece is one but… I’ve just seen waaay too much worried, dissatisfied or downright angry CSers recently and…
Disclaimer 1: the CS fandom still is and, I believe, will always be the best fandom I’ve ever been in. So this is in no way a critique of the fandom or even of individuals, I just wanna see some satisfaction on my dash so I guess I’m gonna have to put it there. Disclaimer 2: I’d also like to point out that I’m not saying people aren’t allowed to be dissatisfied, I’m just offering you a more positive point of view, the possession of which I have found very useful in life.
So with that out of the way…I don’t like to brag about my perfect ship but…
why CS is the ship of dreams

Reblog the Captain Swan engagement ring for good luck! How do you know it’s for them? Because it is now shhhh
Killian Jones is the biggest male feminist on OUAT reblog if you agree
Killian was the cutest here.
Once Upon a Captain Swan Recap: 6x07 Recap (ft. Wilby)
no offense but killian’s disdain for pop tarts just fucking screamed this guy to me
Waiting for Hook’s centric episode like :
Killian Jones is putting Emma Swan before the Greater Good
Since birth Emma has always been sacrificed for the greater good, but by keeping the shears Killian is saying the opposite. He is saying that Emma is more important than the greater good and if it comes down to one or the other he will always pick Emma.
That is why I think his decision is so important - because he is doing the one thing no one else has ever done - Putting Emma First before the Greater Good. And he is the only person that we know will do that. Her parents, especially her mother, have always been just a little too willing to let Emma go for the greater good (which is ironic considering who her mother let live).
In no way do I think he is making the decision for Emma or that he is making the choice for her, but I do think he is saying that he wants to keep their options open and if it came down to Emma’s life or the fate of Storybrooke - well as far as he’s concerned Storybrooke will just have to deal with it.
Daily reminder that Emma made Killian a dark one to keep him alive. So keeping a pair of scissors against Emma’s will doesn’t sound so terrible to me.
How could you all just let the love of your life die knowing that there’s another way?
My desire for next week's Killian-centric episode
I want Killian to break down.
Killian’s expressions throughout 6x05 broke my damn heart. He tries to be strong and be supportive of his Emma, but you can see on his face how hard he is trying to hold himself together.
Everything he’s been through recently: Forced to become the Dark One. Manipulated into hurting his loved ones. Dying. Dying again. Dying a third time. Brutally tortured by a psychopathic god. Being resurrected only to be faced with the threat of his True Love’s impending demise…
I want the weight of all of this to finally come crashing down on Killian. I want him to just let the emotions come flowing in while he cries in his Swan’s arms.
Because it’s okay to be vulnerable. It’s ok to feel pain and loss and sadness. And if anyone has reason to feel those things, it’s our precious pirate prince.
I’m pretty sure he kept them as an insurance policy in case they don’t find a 3rd option and Emma decides she doesn’t want to die.
Killian Jones would not de-Savior Emma without her consent.
Is it fair to compare Killian hiding the thing from Emma and Rumple hiding the real dagger from Belle? I saw someone made that comparison and instantly disagreed.
Killian hiding the shears is him trying to protect Emma (same way she was trying to protect him by not telling him about the visions). It’s him trying to give her her best and happiest ending possible. Rumple hiding the real dagger from Belle was him manipulating her and putting his power first. It’s him staying firmly in control. Killian didn’t keep the shears to control Emma. He would never do that.
Spot on. He kept the shears to keep her options open, because there is the possibility she'll change her mind, and how can the shears save her life if they're in the bottom of the ocean?
You know I think everyone’s reactions are valid but man after really enjoy that episode I feel like I am the only one who did. Who is, generally speaking, not angry at the wiring nor is mad at either Emma or Killian and the decisions they made in the episode. Who understands both sides and doesn’t like to call them selfish but instead trying to do what they think is best,- Emma believing in hope, and Killian trying to preserve what they have and what they want. Who honestly has not real problem with the secrets because they come from a place of love and while it’s never good to do so understands them and doesn’t think it’s simply rehashing storylines. Emma and Killian have both grown and have learned so much but it’s not like once you learn something you never make mistakes again and react in the perfect way no matter the situation. And I for one am glad this was not resolved in a single episode. I think it will be ongoing and I am looking forward to that but amidst this angst I am sure there will be happy moments and ones where they will discuss these issues. They may not be long and drawn out scenes, but they have had them before so have no reason to believe they won’t again. If you disagree that is fine. Everyone reacts differently. But for me, I’m just enjoying being along for this amazing journey about two very realistic characters who are learning about love, life and themselves. Am I alone here?
You've got me in your corner!
I like what you said about this coming full circle. Killian and Emma have now both done the wrong thing for the right reasons. Tho I wish they'd stop making the wrong decisions all the time.
I apologize in advance, nonnie, but I’m going to use this ask to talk about the idea of “doing the wrong thing.” What is with the need to assign blame and sit in judgement about every damn thing?
Sufficed to say, I am not inline with much of fandom in condemning both their actions and never have been. If Emma hadn’t done what she did in 5A, Killian would be dead. Full stop. She did what had to be done to save him. She went to extraordinary lengths, and there were consequences that they faced, but personally I roll by eyes at the hand-wringing and the judgement over the decisions she made. You think “she was wrong” fine, that’s your opinion, but my opinion is that it’s a fairy tale, and it’s much more fun to watch if you take the stick out of your ass and go with the flow.
Personally, I prefer my favorite characters alive. I LOVE that my OTP would do ANYTHING to save each other. I LOVE that the other’s well-being and safety is always paramount. I love that while her parents, son and Regina just nodded along with Emma’s plan to face the consequences of being a Savior, Killian did NOT. He is not okay with her “paying the price” for the magic. I love that he is PRESERVING her options, by keeping the scissors (whether it works out that way or not.) AND I love that they made a point that his only concern is her heart’s desire.
Killian did what he felt he had to in the moment. He is worried out of his mind about her and knows that she is not necessarily thinking clearly. So he made a snap decision not to allow Emma to make a snap decision that could mean her life. Sue me, I don’t have a problem with it.
So you sit in judgement over “wrong decisions” if it pleases you. I’m going to be over here basking in the EPIC lengths my OPT will go to to save the other. It’s a pretty good place.
Way back in 5A, when I caught wind of spoilers before I had caught up, I couldn't understand why Killian was mad at Emma for SAVING HIS LIFE. Having watched it myself, I get his reasons for being upset, but I stand by that saving the life of someone you love (and who loves you) is not a wrong decision. I don't give a flying fig about someone's agency when it comes to saving their life. If your SO told you they were going to go off themselves, what would you say then about agency vs. living? Because this is a pretty fair equivalent.
Excalibur vs the Shears
Everyone’s talking about Hook taking away Emma’s choice to sacrifice her life by not saving herself by using the shears and instead choosing to save others…
but she basically did the same thing to him last season - twice actually - once by using Excalibur on him and once by walking into hell to bring him back.
ultimately that worked out pretty well for both of them since he’s alive and they’re together.
So I can’t fault him for this one.
She tried to throw away her choice. He’s keeping her options open.
He’s doing what Emma would do. Kindred spirits.
This is exactly the way I feel about this.
“Your heart’s desire, Swan. I promise, that’s all I want you to have” first of all we can quite clearly see that Killian isn’t just taking about food. He is in love with this woman and he knows her inside out, even though Emma said that she would pay the price of her fate he knows that all she has ever wanted in life was a family and a future with someone she loves, and that so happens to be him.
So by keeping the scissors its not him trying to break her trust, It’s him trying to keep something incase there is no other way to save her and to give her the life she has always longed for. It parallels with why Emma turned him into the dark one back in Camelot, they are kindred spirts.
