Yesterday I was sorting through a couple of pieces of my Layton merch and I thought I had put it all away but I walk into the living room this morning and saw this on the floor.
There is a very high probability that my mum saw it. Yikes.
i saw someone draw long hair descole and messed with some different hairstyles (not included here) now i dont think i can ever go back theyre so bonita
lil descole warmups but its mostly me practicing folds and deciding how their cape should work
also undecided on the mask hmm i think it looks better when i make it kinda taller and rounder for some reason. if only i could draw as flowily digitally as i do traditionally

A Few Words To Those That Are Hurting
As some of you might already know or have suspected, I do not have a pleasant or safe home life. I have been abused for most of my life and it's been getting particularly bad lately. It has taken an extreme and severe toll on both my physical and mental health over the years, but as of now, it has reached a boiling point. As a child, I didn't tell anyone what was happening. As a teen, I didn't tell anyone what was happening. As a young adult, I haven't told anyone what is happening. That is about to change. Keeping silent has levied a severe and intolerable cost that cannot be undone. Now to safely get out I have to be careful, quick, and precise about what I do. I have to be strong. I have to be brave. These things are difficult when the level of stress you've endured has left your mental wellbeing as a desolate site of bloody war. Therefore, I need to put all of my attention and focus on taking care of myself. I have to get stronger. Mentally, physically, spiritually. My life is about to get harder than it has ever been, but I'm sincerely hoping and praying that it will be worth it. Nothing that's worth anything ever comes easy and escaping abuse is most definitely not easy. It might be one of the most difficult things to do in life, especially when you were raised to keep the duct tape firmly over your mouth.
To anyone going through a similar situation, including minors, I cannot stress enough how important it is to defy fear and defy what you may have been told about not saying anything. If you're being hurt, if you feel unsafe, if the people in your life who are supposed to protect you are making you feel afraid... tell someone. Tell someone. Tell someone. There are people who want to help you. Believe it or not, it is the truth. Tell your teacher. Tell your school counsellor. Tell your principal. Tell your doctor. Tell the librarian. Find a helpline or crisis centre online and call them. If you don't have a phone, ask to use the phone at your school office or even at a local convenience store. Walk into the hospital and ask for help. If the person you tell first doesn't listen to you, find someone who will. Keep talking. Keep trying. Get the help you need. No matter how many tries it takes, get help.
Having to be strong is a part of life. However, being strong doesn't equate to taking constant abuse. It doesn't equate to being a punching bag, physical or verbal. That is not what being strong is. Feats of strength include exercising your strength over your fears, even in the face of great duress. Don't be a statistic. It often takes people a long time to leave their abusers, be they lovers, family, or otherwise. Please be the exception to that. It's better. It's so much better. I'm unfortunately in the majority. It has taken me a long, long time to get to this point; I'm not even out yet, but I'm working on it. I have a Plan A, a Plan B, and a Plan C. None of them are ideal, but that's the point I'm at, and I figure any of them are better and safer than staying.
For most things in life, like depression, stress, and anxiety, things get better.
But not here.
Not with abuse.
I can promise you this. It does NOT better. It WON'T get better. It will NEVER, EVER get better unless YOU do something about it—and the best thing you can do is to walk out the door and tell someone you can trust. Get help. Make a plan. Get out.
Whether you are an adult, a teen, or a child, get help and get out. You were put here to live your life purposefully. To make a difference, to make your mark, to bring light to dark places in your own way. You have a path to follow. You have a quest to undertake. You can't stay tied up in the dirt being run over by those who do not love you. LOVE DOESN'T HURT. No matter WHAT they tell you, no matter WHO it comes from—LOVE DOESN'T HURT. This is no way to live. Not for you, not for me, not for anybody. You have to get up, no matter how broken you are, no matter how much it hurts, no matter how afraid you are. You have be brave and you have to let the light of hope guide you. Nobody can take from you what is inside. No matter how much they break or bruise you, they cannot take what's inside you. You have something so much stronger than the blows they dish out: hope. Hope is faith, hope is love, hope is strength. No one can take it from you.
You have the power to leave. You have the power to grow. You have the power to build your life from the ground up and to cultivate a garden of hope.
You can have freedom, you just have to take it. For you, for your future. For your peace. For the people you'll be able to reach a hand out to later when you're safe and healthy. For your hopes. For your dreams.
For you.

My friends, including you lot, have been the ones who have kept me alive through everything by stoking my faith and my hope for better days. By reminding me that kind people exist, that the world isn't wholly cruel, that life can be gentle, you've kept me hoping, kept me getting out of bed in the morning. I keep your drawings, your kind words, and the laughter you've given me tucked into my heart and at the forefront of my mind.
