i really do love how g’raha eschews the role of monarch both functionally and narratively but there is something so funny about the wol—especially knight-themed wols—pledging their fealty and their sword to like. the democratically elected provincial governor

i will vanquish the light that plagues this realm and bring about the return of night. this i swear by the local mayor

the other day i was charging a scooter battery in my garage when my neighbor's dog started to attack a squirrel. i yelled at the dog and got it to back off long enough for the squirrel to escape under the fence. it was limping and ran into my yard. i quickly unplugged the battery and shut my garage door and ran inside to grab a towel / carrier so i could scoop it up to see if i could get it help. i searched up and down my yard for about 30 minutes, looked all through the grapevines and in my neighbor's hostas but for the life of me i could not find it. i went inside for an hour or two and then came back out and found it dead in my neighbor's driveway. i scooped it up with a shovel and i buried it. i gave myself a really horrible blister on my thumb from how i was holding the shovel. i'm sure there's something poetic in this but it made me sad and my thumb really hurts.
