The camera across the street from Michael's flat swiveled to face the living room window once again. The feed in the corner read 23/01/2016.

When the newlyweds were leaving the courthouse, the door had attempted to take Salome again. Pulling Michael from the Twisting Deceit nearly six years ago had left them both deeply marked, and it didn't seem to care which of them it consumed first. The last time it manifested in the archives, one of Michael's more curious assistants had been lost to it. She didn't like to think about that.

Michael and Salome stood in the center of the living room following their simple courthouse wedding. Elias, for reasons unknown to the newlyweds, had insisted on being the witness, but now he was gone and the couple simply held each other in their living room, decorated for the simple party they had planned, as they waited for their guests—namely Tim, Martin, Sasha, and Rosie—to arrive.

When she received the invite, she was surprised. After all, Vera hardly remembered meeting the couple. It must've been at some event, perhaps that time she tried to visit the Archives. In any case, she was here now to offer her congratulations to the newlyweds. Maybe it was her journalist's intuition, but she had a feeling something interesting would happen here.

For the gift, she chose a set of fancy glasses with an intricate design on each of them. Cups were a fun choice. They could hold whatever you wanted.

"Excuse me, where do I put this?" Vera asked, smiling.

Huh? Um… yeah, there are others. I’ve met at least three. I became one because I died while thinking that I couldn’t trust anyone, so I got remade as something different and wrong. I was human, but I was supposed to be something else, a Hunter, and it didn’t work, and the people who wanted me to be something else didn’t like Strangers at all, so they cut my fingers off
