Revere today went really pretty swell! Started off with setting stones, then lunch, then we moved onto the next section and had a demonstration on getting up to soldering a ring. All of the steps.
Making sure the metal is flat, Filing the edges to be flat and perpendicular to the metal, Annealing the metal Bending the metal into the best shape to where the edges meet and are flush Then soldering the two sides together with a third hand and hard solder.
Tomorrow we will be working on forming the rings, and probably going to do a square sterling ring and a halfround gold fill ring. I have no clue what's happening for tomorrow morning in the setting class yet. Have to look at my schedule for that (the one that's packed veeeery carefully in my toolbag)
Good day. I'm very excited about these two months and what I will learn :D
First day of Revere Academy yesterday :) did all the basics, making our own tools and introductions and the like. Morning of the second day started out great! Boyfriend made me breakfast and lunch, so I have a good start to the day. Sadly enough to have the books I need I have to return some of the tools I bought that would really help my studio be up to date and functional. Ah well, shall save up and buy them again when I can! Troubles of a starting jeweler.
This is what I have accomplished in my fab 1 class today. Even got it done early, after making sure it was perfect (for where it is in the process at least)
Taking the Revere Academy Fabrication 1 class. Learning how to make new tools and refreshing my memory on what everything is and how it works. It's a little tedious, but I figured I should take the basics again because there might be those little holes in my knowledge of this crazy that I really hope to fill.
But until we get making things, I'm doing my best to not be ahead of the game and to move with the rest of the students.
Can't wait to work on some projects :)
Engagement ring I have designed for a client :) Cushion cut gem in the middle with a diamknd encrusted bezel (pretty much) Made out of rose gold :D
