People have talked a lot about how Spamton wanting to "get big" has to do with breaking free of the game, breaking into reality. In Chapter 3 we have an example of Kris being big, at least in relation to the inhabitants of the Shadow Mantle game.

was pointed out to me that the jojo pose flowery does isn't just namechecking hftf jotaro but specifically MUGEN's own Ronald McDonald:

and further that this is reflected elsewhere in his character, with his "I get to make up big numbers in everything" fighting style pretty strongly evoking nonsensically overpowered MUGEN fighters. which is very fun on its own but also makes me wonder about a pattern that's been around for a while

the NEO body & the god of hyperdeath on asriel's computer are over-the-top expressions of A Lightner's Dream, Discarded, climactic encounters in Undertale reframed as avatars of an ideal self probably literally made in mspaint. maybe flowery is the culmination of that, someone with dreams but no lightner body whom the Dark World lets actualize, but...

...where does this leave the Knight? intentionally or not, "spiky monochromatic void creature with arms & legs that aren't quite right" 100% passes for something a teenager like Dess would draw in the margins of her notes. is this Dess' dream, too?

Top 5 cues in all of Rhythm Heaven?

In no particular order:

BA-BUM-BUM-BUM, TWO THREE FOUR! (← Specifically the long-distance one where he's yelling)

The "pan" cue for clapping in The BonOdori is so cool, especially the "made in Japan!" joke. [Imagines The BonOdori in Megamix] Hmmm, yess, a skill star right there please.

The hold-release spin cue in Sweeper Star in Groove, just because we got the timing exactly right first try - (Of course that's how long a hold-release cue in a new Rhythm Heaven game would be, swear to god it's identical to Cheer Readers' "OK It's On!")

Ololgogloon~ (1-a-2-a-3-GO!)

The triple back-to-back-to-back "tweet, twe-twe-tweet, tweet, squawk!" in Flockstep.

The recurring theme here is that the best parts of any given Rhythm Heaven game are moments that the tutorial didn't explicitly cover so much as you just have to intuit the right thing to do based on a new combination of cues.
