be careful rotating characters in your head or they may get stuck there and gain sentience
even if you feel like it, you aren't replaceable. no one will ever experience or have someone that was just like you. even if you aren't around for long, people will miss you.
you are important, and people value you regardless if you value yourself.
Actually, you are enough. Even if you don’t work. Or study. Or go out. Or have friends. Or have family. You’re enough because you exist and your existence is enough to be enough because you are not a product. You are not a sum of output. You are not a task to complete. But because you are something the universe wanted and put here even if you’ll never understand why. Somewhere in the cosmos your existence makes a difference, even if it’s not the way others existences do.
Honestly, the best advice I have for anyone is just be yourself. Be strange, be peculiar, be whimsical, be weird and messy and passionate about things people don’t understand. Let your odd quirks show. Let yourself show. We get this one teeny tiny life, and you should refuse to spend it trying to hide anything about yourself, otherwise you missed the whole point. There’s nothing about you that is wrong. Whoever you are, whatever you love, whatever you do, whatever you’re passionate about, whatever you dislike, whatever strange faces you make when something disgusts you or the way you laugh is wrong. It’s not possible. You are the way you are because that’s exactly how you are supposed to be. Not everyone has to love it, no everyone has to accept it, the only person that needs to is you.
You didn’t create a villain.
You described what happened.
It’s not your job to twist yourself into silence just to protect someone else’s image. Especially when they had no problem hurting you in private.
You’re not being dramatic.
You’re not “making them look bad.”
You’re just finally saying what you weren’t allowed to say out loud before.
And if the truth makes them uncomfortable, maybe the issue isn’t that you’re talking.
Maybe the issue is what they did.
So how does your system deal with alters having the same names?
For us we first have the rule that if the name is taken and it isn't your source name you aren't allowed to name yourself that (alternate spelling are allowed to bypass thos rule though).
Solves a bit. But then you get multiple with the same name still. How do we differentiate the one we are talking about?
The most common is (name) + (source) for identifying who we mean. But for our Michaels we have a different method that is the reason this post is being made because it's funny.
So may I present the Michael Naming System:
1. She/Her Michael - fictive of Mitsuzane Kureshima. Only transfem one with the name so we decided pronouns worked
2. He/Him Michael - fictive of GTA Michael (often also referred to as that, but for fun we use the first version too)
3. Crazy Michael - fictive of Michael Myers (sometimes just referred to by full name)
4. Depressed Michael - fictive of Michael Afton (also sometimes just referred to by full name)
We also try to make sure there's no name duplicates but it's not really a "rule". If someone chooses a name that's already taken, we try to suggest a different one, or an alt spelling, but they still can use the name they want. Plus:
- all of us have 1 or 2 primary names
- some of us have secondary names as well
- we only try not to have any duplicate primary names
so if someone wants a name already belonging to another headmate, they might take it as a secondary name and choose another primary name.
But at some point we had 3 Alex's. We called them Alex H. (his source name), Alex1 and Alex2.
please remember that you are not doing anything wrong for your system presently differently from the other systems you see.
your system is unique to you and your history. you're not doing something wrong for not being like other systems.
the most important thing you can do when writing a story is to include an alien character whos like incredibly bizzare and weird and eccentric and seems to go against like EVERY aspect of your worlds expected norms, and then later introduce more characters of the same alien species, but theyre like perfectly normal and Also find that first guy weird
this is what walking into the frontroom feels like sometimes
your friends want you around. even if you're relapsing in your recovery. even on your worst days. your friends still want you around.
