1. Can you show a brief introduction of FCVB clinical trials?         We have two stages of clinical tests. There are15 pilot studies at first and 122 multiple-center clinical tests in Chinese top 9 hospital. The longest time for clinical test is 9 years and the shortest time is 6 years. 2. The first FCVB milestone in Russia. This week the first FCVB implantation surgery was performed in Russia at the Rascheskov Eyeclinic in Kazan. In one day Dr. Alexander Rascheskov assisted by Prof. Dr. Gao operated 3 patients with ocular trauma. Normalwise their eyeball had to be removed.

Foldable Capsular Vitreous Body is the first foldable capsular vitreous body (FCVB) made from Medical grade biocompatible polymer (FDA registered material) and contains a vitreous-like capsule, drain tube and drain valve. The silicone oil could be injected into the capsule via a drain valve to support the retina and eyeball.

   A 29-year-old man from Weifang city accidentally wounded his left eye by firecrackers. The injured left eye had no sense of light, the intraocular pressure(IOP) continued to decrease, and the eyeballs were slowly shrinking. Worse, there is a risk of eyeball removal in the future. Blindness has made him painful, and it was even more difficult for him to think about taking off his eyeballs. "Keeping the eye" became his wish!

  When he saw the news report, he noticed that the team led by Professor Sun Xianyong from Weifang Eye Hospital Group had successfully completed a number of foldable capsular vitreous body implantation operations, and the postoperative results were good. He was overjoyed because in terms of the current domestic medical technology, only the "foldable capsular vitreous body implantation" can help him to keep his eye. He took the initiative to find Professor Sun Xianyong for the surgery. 

With the cooperation of the hospital team, he successfully implemented a foldable capsular vitreous body implantation operation(FCVB), and his eyeball was finally saved!

This year, when Mr. Hong (pseudonym) from Xiamen city came to work in the factory, his left eye was accidentally injured by a grinding wheel, then appeared tears, pain, photophobia, foreign body feeling, blurred vision and other symptoms. Six hours after the injury, he found an eye trauma expert Dr. Jinhong Cai after the emergency treatment of eye trauma on Xiamen Eye Center.

The medical examination showed that Mr. Hong’s left eyeball penetrating injury was a corneoscleral laceration and required direct hospitalization. If the traditional method is used to perform vitrectomy combined with silicone oil filling surgery, Mr. Hong's eyeball may develop into a silicone oil-dependent eye, and there will be eyeball atrophy and other complications. In the end, it is very likely that eyeballs will needed to be removed because of the inability to maintain the shape of the eyeball. In order to avoid the outcome of eyeball removal, Dr. Jinhong Cai and the team decided to implant Mr. Hong's left eye with the innovative product -- foldable capsular vitreous body implantation (FCVB), which is independently developed and has completely independent intellectual property rights in China. After the surgery, the patient position is normal, and no need to implant the prosthetic eye, which indeed reduce both his physical and mental stress.

    Recently, a patient in Lanzhou went out hastily in the dark to find her child, and unfortunately she missed her step. Her right eye was stabbed by a glass bottle on the ground. The glass slag pierced the skin from the upper eyelid and plunged into the eyeball. After dealing with the trauma, the injury was so serious that the doctor told her that even if her right eye’s trauma was recovered, her vision could not be restored. Worse, because the glass fragments pierced the eyeball, the eyeball was unable to be saved. The FCVB case in Turkey

A 24 years old patient is an optimistic who has undergone three silicone oil filling operations at Kocaeli University Hospitals because of the “right eyeball trauma”. Unfortunately,  he have suffered persistent low intraocular pressure and signs of eyeball atrophy.

Considering the eyeball atrophy and other complications that may occur in the future, it is highly likely that the eyeball will be removed without the eyeball shape being maintained. To avoid the removal of the eyeballs, Professor Dr. Levent Karabaş decided to implement "Foldable Capsular Vitreous Body implantation " for Mr. Kahmauan.

Another Successfule Foldable Capsular Vitreous Body Implantation Operation in Northeast China

Recently, a patient with severe ocular trauma was successfully implanted the Foldable Capsular Vitreous Body. On the first day after surgery, the patient's visual acuity has been significantly improved. From no light perception to light perception, the expected effect has been fully achieved. What is the Vitreous Body?

About 4/5 of the human eyeball is composed of the vitreous body. The composition of the whole vitreous body is 99% water, 1% collagen, and normally shows a transparent gel state (like a jelly). Therefore vitreous body is the liquids and some fibrous tissue which fill our eyes, that is, the space between the lens and the retina. The vitreous body will never be replenished, so the vitreous is non-renewable. When a vitreoretinal disease occurs, the natural vitreous body must be surgically removed and filled with a suitable artificial vitreous substitute.

At present, the commonly used fillers in the clinic mainly include air, inert gas, heavy water, silicone oil, heavy silicone oil and the like. However, long-term silicone oil filling can easily lead to a series of postoperative complications such as complicated cataracts, secondary glaucoma, corneal degeneration, silicone oil emulsification, and even migration to the subretinal and optic nerves, resulting in loss of myelin in the optic nerve fibers, resulting in permanent loss of vision.  

So we now have a better product that can support the vitreous substitute of the retina for the lifetime -FCVB
