but i would like to add: “overhated animals” includes various insects, reptiles, arachnids, etc., by the way. not just the cute mammals and avians.

ants. mosquitoes. spiders. tarantulas. “creepy” spiders. everyday house spiders. flies. snakes. scorpions. centipedes, millipedes. moths. not just the “cute ones”. not just the “harmless ones”. no exceptions. all the little guys who aren’t valued as they deserve to be, who are often swatted, crushed and killed without hesitation, without a second thought.

those are all animals who all have important ecological roles in their own environments and, beyond that, are living creatures who deserve to live just because they are alive. life is precious, and that applies to all life. you gotta be nice to ‘em

I remember enjoying the Guardian Herd books as a kid. These books were about pegasi though, not horses, but close enough in my opinion. I don't remember much of the plot, but I liked that there were no humans in the story. The sole focus was on the winged horses as the main characters.

I know you have quite a few posts about wolves never having blue eyes, but I haven't seen any listing all the eye colors they CAN have? I'm also curious whether eye color often corresponds with coat color.

Wolves’ eyes can have colours ranging from grey, green, yellow, amber, orange, and brown. I made you a chart:

There’s only one coat colour that seems to corresponds with a certain eye colour: white coated wolves have either brown, yellow, or orange/amber eyes. I don’t know if this is an absolute fact though, but I don’t recall seeing a white coated wolf with green or grey eyes. But that’s about it, all other coat colours can have any eye colour listed above. 

Also, some subspecies only have a certain eye colour. For example, Hudson Bay wolves (Canis lupus Hudsonicus) only have brown/orange eyes.

Post-spay photo! It might just be my eyes playing tricks on me, but the spots seem to get slightly lighter and less defined on her stomach, a little like colorpoint. I’d love to see how that patch looks once it’s grown back in. Looks like her nipples might also be black

Ever considered a white spotted blue mackarel Crookedjaw? Because the universe seems to have. Don't think there are many pictures online of cats that have an injury that looks like how he is commonly drawn. Photos screenshotted from some random youtube shorts, footage location from who knows where.

i recently got a job where I see lots of dogs literally every day and it's piqued my interest in dog genetics, especially since I feel like I've fully exhausted all of the information I can find to fuel my cat genetics interest lmao. Do you know any good resources similar to this for dog stuff?

I recommend getting into dog genetics very much because dogs are common and fairly diverse, so you get to try to figure out the colors of the passing dogs consantly. My enjoyment of watching the dogs of random people grew 300% when i learned their genetics
