So um...thoughts on wincest? While I dont personally ship it i struggle not to see the subtext present, especially in early seasons lol
Throwing a strong one for my first ask haha.
I don’t personally ship it, Sam is a sweet boy and I imagine a lovely ally but his vibes are straighter than a ruler. I also think the relationship dynamic between the boys is incredibly realistic and relatable, their bond feels well and truely brotherly to me — no more no less.
But I can understand why people ship it because it’s all about how you interpret and adapt the dynamics present. While someone might look at a pairing, be it parental, sibling, friends, coworkers etc. who have strong codependency and simply say ‘this is just a platonic/familial relationship with those themes and/or this reminds me of myself and my *insert non romantic relationship here*’ someone else will say ‘I see those those themes and as such interpret the relationship as romantic and/or sexual regardless of the nature of the relationship.’ And both of those are completely valid, because that’s the beauty of fiction, you get to explore how those themes change and adapt depending on the context you imply. No one is more right than the other — we’re all just playing with barbie dolls.
I also won’t shame anyone who does ship it, you do you boo — if you wanna explore those dynamics and relationships the fictional space is the best and safest place to do it.
