The newest release from VHShitfest is over 3 hours of homemade 80s/90s horror from Ohio filmmaker, Harold Olminsky! Most of this footage has all but been lost so don’t miss out on this release. This is the first official release of this material in over 20 years!

This is now not only the coolest VHS you've ever seen, but also the most mangled and destroyed. I have never seen another copy of this in my life, I don't know anyone else who has seen another copy, but if you have seen another copy please contact me. I saw a fellow collector found this tape and just knew I had to have it. The cover is half-printed on and half physically drawn on the box. The artwork is primitive but stunning. Just look at the monster's little goatee. It was released on Gee Video, which no one has ever heard of. This was the first release, yet according to the back they have others. I found this somehow very doubtful, but I really hope they did release something else so I can find it. If it is anything as cool as this I'll be ecstatic. The second I got this tape I had to put it in a big box protector because just touching it could destroy it even more. But like my friend said, if a tape passes a certain point of damage it actually becomes cool and adds to the coolness. If anyone knows anything about this company, please let me know.

Attack of the Beast Creatures is one of my all-time favorite movies ever, so I had to buy this bootleg tape for a dollar. My friend Earl had a box of bootleg tapes and this one really stuck out. It was released through the bootleg company, Witching Hour Video. I highly doubt this version is any more uncut than the World Video version (which I also have), but I'm going to double check to make sure. That'd be stunning if this version had more footage than the U.S. one. Weird thing about this is there's two copies of the same cover included.

Got a dope MPI catalog from 1989. I figured this would be the appropriate Tumblr to post this little snippet from the mag' since I recently reviewed the Gorgon Video Magazine on VHShitfest. I love seeing any of these old advertisements for stuff. As I review stuff on the site, if I have any ads that correspond with them, I'll make sure to post them here.

Last bit of the Camelot Studios weekend is a very cool item, the original The Hackers promotional poster for the VHS release. These were sent out to video stores to promote the movie but a couple years ago they uncovered a bunch of the originals left in their basement. I got this from a fellow collector, but head over to their website and order one quick. Once they are gone, they are gone. And how often can you get a rare original 80s video store poster for this cheap? I'm also glad they changed up the poster design slightly from the VHS cover.

To continue with the Camelot Studios weekend we're having over at VHShitfest, here is a scan of the very sought after, The Hackers. It was the sixth release through Camelot Studios in a small clamshell. So far, all I've been able to find out is they released Black River Magic, Black River Monster (CAM 003), The Earhunter, and possibly something called The Black River Horse Capades. That still leaves at least one or two releases that no one knows about, not even the current owner. They're one of my favorite companies because of the rarity of their releases and because they were shot on video, which is something I absolutely love. I paid a lot for this on Ebay, but it was definitely worth it. It doesn't pop up very often and when it does it goes for a ton. Rumor is a few thousand of these were made, but for some reason I think that number is exaggerated. One of my favorite tapes in my collection, easily.

The rumor on the street is that only 200 copies of this movie were produced before David DeCoteau pulled it for "poor sales." That makes this easily one of the rarest Cinema Home Video releases. Later on the director started selling DVD-Rs of this movie on Ebay with added bonus footage, but he hasn't done that in a long while, making that semi-bootleg/semi-official DVD-R very rare as well. This movie is fantastic, so the promise of bonus footage existing makes me semi-hard and makes me want to find a DVD copy of this. I found my copy at a porn shop (the name/location of which I can't recall). It was the only copy sitting there and was sealed. I bought it because the movie looked amazing (and looked like a Gremlins rip-off), but didn't realize how rare it was till I got it home. I had to open it so we could review it, but kind of wish I hadn't, because later on I was able to find another copy (yes, that's right, I owned 2/200) from a collector. I traded that one for a bunch of rare Nickelodeon stuff. If you have the chance to see this movie, do it. It's one of my prized tapes from a really cool cult/horror distributor that I love to collect.

This was one of the first two Unicorn Videos I got. It's one of the enclosed clamshells, which are all pretty rare, but horror titles are most rare. When I first got it from another collector friend, it was covered in sticker residue but I was able to clean it all off and now it looks stunning. I have never really sought after Unicorn tapes because every single collector goes after those and the prices are often ridiculous, but when I can get them cheap or find them I definitely buy them. Their amazing cover art could never be praised enough.

This was released through New Star Video, but I think was also put out by Continental. I could never pass up something with such a hilarious cover/title. I found it in the porn section of my friend’s video store. It’s not porn, it’s just cheesy asses. Definitely a must own.

I finally got my most wanted tape (just days after I got my other most wanted tape, Let's Play Dead)! This movie is fucking insane (but expect a review at a later date... maybe next) and this release is even more insane. It's a very rare 'big box," and even rarer to find not cut up (I actually have a cut box for trade or sale if you're interested hit me up). It was released by a company that I know nothing about, Hollywood Family Entertainment, out of Sepulveda, California, in one of the weirdest and most unusual box types I've seen. It's a big box, but is much wider than a normal big box, and opens up on the front like a book box and has cool pictures on the inside. Sadly, because of how it is designed, it is easily destroyed and my copy has seen better days, but it's at least fully intact and has no fading. Do yourself the favor and buy this if you can ever find it. Look out for a review in the near future.

My girlfriend got this for me for my birthday. It's known as Devil Fish in America and is one of the many Jaws rip-offs that came out. I'd go as far as to say this is possibly one of the best covers ever. The details that went into this are insane and holding this in my hands gives me a boner. It didn't cost very much, either, surprisingly. LOOK AT THIS!

To go along with the newest review here is a release of the movie Toxic Zombies under another title. A title that makes even less sense than Toxic Zombies. Seriously, Bloodeaters? You can't eat blood! This is a really rare release by Atom Video out of California. It's hard to say which is more rare, this, or the Videactrics big box, but both are sweet to have. There's no difference besides the title and cover, though. I was able to get this for really cheap on Ebay. Now all I need is the Queasy Art release.

I'm probably the only one who thinks this is interesting, but I found this dope ass Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade documentary tape. It's like 50 minutes long and shows behind the scenes stuff and shows "real life Indiana Joneses." I can't wait to watch it. It's even cooler that, to my knowledge, it has never been released on DVD.

Insanely rare big box release of Andy Warhol's Frankenstein. It was released by Criterion under the name Flesh For Frankenstein on DVD. This is an Air Video release and damn hard to find. Only problem with my copy... it's missing the tape! This is highly unlikely, but if someone has the tape for this release please let me know. If anyone owns this release let me know, too, maybe we can work something out.

Just got this insanely rare big box of Toxic Zombies from a private collector for an amazing price (less than $30!). I have wanted this forever but almost never see one pop up, especially in this emasculate shape, and when it does it goes for way more than I want to pay. This was put out by Videatrics (which might be their only release?) and is unlike any other big box I have seen, it is only a little bit bigger than a slipcase actually, but it is still beautiful. I cannot wait to watch it, too.
