what are you filling your heart with?
this question is so important (via worshipgifs)
Our job is to love people. When it hurts. When it’s awkward. When it’s uncool and embarrassing. Our job is to stand together, to carry the burdens of one another and to meet each other in our questions.

The difficult and the slow moving things eventually, eventually bear more fruit than anything. Do not give up. Do not stop praying. God will keep you moving forward. It’s the only good way. The only way we can grow, and we will.
When Adam blew it in the garden, God pursued him. When Israel turned on God again… and again… and again, God pursued them. And when we fail God… again… and again… and again, He doesn’t give up on us. We were created for Him… to have a relationship with Him.

Complaining about a silent God with a closed Bible, is like complaining about no text messages with a turned off phone.

God you will provide
You will exceed
You will make things new, fortified and to your image
You will bless
And as I wait for these things, you have already done them in my life. You have already abundantly blessed me and that's not enough for you. The same love you pour out to me, pour it out onto me to love you and your people — without selfishness and without any relent.
Doubt, disappointment and discouragement may come but will not prevail.
You are steadfast, the anchor of my soul, you are the first and the last, the one who speaks life and shatters death.
I love you lord. Please let me love you more.
Forgive the trees for the way they can’t stop shaking even after all these years of practice. Forgive yourself for the days you don’t even want to try.

God is less concerned with you doing the right thing and more concerned with making you into the sort of person who does the right thing.
i have read this like thirty times and still cannot understand the message it is trying to convey. like not to start shit, but can someone help me out here 🤔
We think God’s looming over us waiting to smack us upside the head every time we fail. He’s not. He’s interested in making us into better people, not better rule followers. Folks that sincerely desire to be loving, selfless, patient, joyful, and kind. Not simply those who put on a show of those attributes. He’s looking for inward change, not just a better mask.
And the best part is that through the death and resurrection of Jesus, we have the opportunity for new life. We can spiritually die and be born again into a new life with a new nature. God’s ready to begin this change whenever we want to lay down on the operating table.
La Zurza - Santo Domingo, DR It had been pouring while we were on our way to this neighborhood that is home to one of the most impoverished people of SD. We weren't sure if there was going to be any electricity at the church, if the weather was going to continue to be bad, or if people were actually going to be able to come because of it! When we walked into church at first, everything was silent except for the bar across the road and foot traffic. But with every person we greeted, there was an atmosphere of anticipation, eagerness, and happiness growing. As we spoke to the children, their smiles and excitement broke me. We were just bringing some goodies, school supplies, candies + the Word. We didn't expect anything in return, nor did we need anything! But it is so true what it says in Luke - give and you shall receive. Our team went in there ready to give but oh boy, did we receive. I felt so much love, so much peace from these kids even though they have every reason to not be. They all have their troubles, broken homes and relationships, empty bellies and an individual story - and so do we. But guess what? They believe in the same God that promises you and me peace, love and faith beyond comprehension. What they gave me that day is irreplaceable + unforgettable. And they don't even know it. You may be ready to give, but are you ready to receive? (at La Zurza)
It is not fancy hair, gold jewelry, or fine clothes that should make you beautiful. No, your beauty should come from inside you, the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. That beauty will never disappear. It is worth very much to God.

Most important of all, love each other deeply, because love makes you willing to forgive many sins.
