1,000 boxes. 15 people. 4 hours. 2 uhauls. 1 heart incredibly overwhelmed with love. This is not the last time our home will be filled with teenagers, but it will be different. We quite literally had a miracle happen this morning with packing (huge shoutout to the Woods!) and we are overwhelmed in the best of ways with how this community demonstrates love. Last Friday was our last youth group and this Sunday our last Sunday at DEC. I have tried to find the words for the past few days to describe how grateful I am for all the support and love and growth I’ve experienced here in this church. 10 years is a lot of life and every step of the way, people from DEC have poured out faithfully into my life. It is bittersweet to be leaving and moving on to the things God is calling us to in DE. We would not be able to make this decision in confidence without all we have learned. Note to future self: When you don’t get it right — Apologize quickly and let go. Don’t beat yourself up or defend yourself too long. Humans are squishy with small brains. We don’t get it right every time. And that’s okay. Being wrong is not the end of the world. It’s the start of learning. Most importantly: learning from the other.
