Dating Steve Rogers Would Include
You learn to understand that he’ll put his duties as Captain America over your relationship, for the most part.
You’ve lost count of the amount of dates he’s left-half way through, citing some random Avengers mission—and that’s just the one’s he’s turned up to.
(There’s restaurants you refuse to dine in because of how many times you’ve been stood up in them).
He always tries to make up for it, though, and you know he’s not being insensitive for the sake of being insensitive; he does genuinely have important hero stuff to do.
You always manage to complete your Disney marathons, though: Steve loves Disney.
Though you’re both usually too enthralled in the film to start up conversation, it’s crucial bonding time. There’s something comforting about how domestic it all is.
Despite his tendencies to bottle up all of his negative feelings, Steve is pretty good at expressing his feelings about your relationship once you’ve both settled down, especially when it counts.
He doesn’t throw around “I love you” all the time, but it just makes it all the more significant when he does say it.
In a surprisingly thoughtful way, he always brings back small souvenirs when he’s on particularly long missions, especially when he’s at destinations you’ve always wanted to visit.
“You’re going to Florida? That’s not fair, I’ve always wanted to visit Disney World!”
“I mean, I’m not really going to be looking at the sights.”
“Shut up, Steve, we both know you’re going to visit Disney World.”
Sometimes, he’ll even sketch something for you (or just sketch you, in general). It’s all highly romantic.
You love his gifts, but you still insist upon a couple’s holiday, despite Fury’s protests.
Nat is, of course, helping you both plan it by convincing Fury it’s a good idea—it’s a good morale buster, she argues.
Tony’s helping, too, with his list of countries you both simply have to visit. He was kind enough to cross out the colder destinations (though obviously let Steve see he’d crossed them out).
You love spending time with Bucky, listening to all of his stories about pre-serum Steve.
It reminds you of how truly heroic he was, stuffing newspaper into his shoes and picking fights with anyone who uttered a disrespectful remark.
It’s good for Bucky, too, so despite the occasional embarrassing story, Steve encourages you both to spend time together at least once a week.
Ultimately, you genuinely admire his heroism, even though it’s somewhat of a hindrance to the general development of your relationship (you’re still waiting for that proposal).
