I've seen this get posted on multiple places online. It's a video breaking down the dividends between Americans and how much they earn as comparing to others. It's an interesting video and I was about to share it from someone on Facebook but then I decided against it since it would start a political demolition of my Facebook wall. I already host one of those every week so I decided to at least spare people the first day of the week.
The reason why this video shouldn't be spread around the Internet is because of the way the information was presented. Yes, it is factual that there is wealth inequality within America. In fact, there has never been a point in human history that there would be what I would consider a safe or considerate balance of wealth between the lower and higher classes.
While other countries outside of the USA have a better balance of wealth between minimum wage workers and CEOs, America assists the poorer citizens through social programs such as single-parent benefits or low-wage benefits like food stamps. Unfortunately, we are still a very primal species that focuses in on what is important to us tomorrow instead of what is important to us in the future. We get comfortable with the work we have established for our person career goals and we believe that taking steps one at a time is the only way get make success for ourselves.
While realistically in my life right now that seems to be the truth, it's not. There are possibilities that we come across each day that can lead us to a path of success or just another way to get tripped up on this crappy sidewalk we call life. To break it all down, as this has been said since after the days of King Arthur and the Brits, we control our own destiny.
We all have the potential to own a very successful company but it all depends on how far we are willing to break out of our comfort zone or what we think might only to be suitable for ourselves. Yes, I believe one day we may live with a powerful government that displaces wealth instead of power but we don't live in that era and it's unfortunate.
I've said this privately that communism is a great idea on paper that has never been accomplished to at least half of it's potential as individuals get power hungry to the point that they become paranoid that someone will take that power. To break away from the idea of one leader to having a council of leaders, we might finally see a balance of wealth that is fair to all individuals while supporting the lower and higher classes.
(Sorry for ranting. I've been sick all day) What do you guys think about wealth inequality in the 21st century? Should we still be striving for a democracy that is controlled by wealth or instead a democracy controlled by knowledge and curiosity?
