I'm adding context under the cut, but please vote first! I want to know what your instinctual responses are. Feel free to let me know your reasoning!

Disney comics are reprinted & produced all over the world (especially in Europe and Brazil - not so much in the US anymore) and they have specific ways in which they are localised. Most of those changes are fairly standard (like translating character names), but one notable thing is that - despite pretty consistently still setting the comics in the US - they often localise the money bin as well.

So when famous duck comic artist Don Rosa said this, it really rubbed me the wrong way:

I've always assumed it was ordinary pocket change, because that's what it looks like to me. I'm used to euros, which are made of metal that looks like gold or copper. Making the coins silver would be weirder!

(An additional note on the colour differences: back in the day, publishers only got the lineart. That meant that each publisher did the colouring in-house and developed their own standards. Even now, with comic artwork shared as digital files, most publishers will still recolour the characters to make them better fit the style their readers know.)
