Well I never meant to brag, but I’ve gotten what I wanted now. It was never my intention to brag, to steal it all away from you. But god does it feel so good, ‘cause I got him where I want him now. And if you could then you know you would. 'Cause god it just feels so good.

It baffled him and forced another grin to his face acknowledging what attracted him to her: she surprised him. It was a strange explanation: of all times he expected her to have human faults of selfishness, Violet always exceeded them. And now, as he expected innocence to be her cripple she was honest again, flushed but determine as he to have her needs. Innocent, clever and honest– how did he manage that? Only to huff a laugh and shake his head at the absurdity. Malachi pulling her hand in front of him and placing an appreciative kiss on her knuckles as one last assurance for things to come. Denial would spout from his lips if he was ever asked and it would never be in the order of the wording; in that moment he was hers. Then his hand fell, eyes shifted away with an expressionless stare while his stride not only quickened but distanced himself away as they rounded the wall to the lobby. He was Violet’s, but any tell of conversation prior has been washed from his features for the sake of appearance to the roommate. He approached the girl and muttered over introductions between them before turning his direction to the doors where the black car– driver included– waited for them.
And just like that the mood changed. How good of an actress can you be was the name of the game, and while Violet felt herself sorely missing the tingles that his fingers shot through her own hand, she had to play the game. She rounded into the lobby and followed his suit the best she could: a serious expression stealing her face, a force to wash away the red in her cheeks and made them a more neutral color. When introduced she gave a polite wave and followed Malachi to the car. Though just because she had to pretend that she was not attached to him did not mean that she would be safe from the thoughts. How much time would it take for them to arrive to the party? How much did Malachi need to interact with the patrons there before he peeled her away? And then the reminder that she generally avoided parties rang in her head as clear as a bell. These were not situations she was accustomed to, they were not people she knew how to chat with. While she wasn’t one for the taste of the drink she might need some to ease -- and at least she knew she wouldn’t be letting her parents down by participating.

“Well then that’s good because the future is always unknown,” she gulped as the thought of her past coming up for air reached her like the cool air from their building. She shook it off and nodded along with the blonde, “Me too, but by home I bet you mean New York, yea I miss New York too.”
“Actually home is N’Orleans. But I think I miss New York, too. Florida is nice and all, but I want to be in my house and working at the bar ...” there it was. The desire to work was always prominent somewhere in Violet. Still she pushed the thought aside and made for the elevator, “Almost time to get home, though.”

“My favorite thing about playing a vampire is the stunts. It’s just a fun, new thing to do. Especially as a girl, being able to be all dolled up in heels and little outfits and be able to kick boys’ butts, I think it’s a really fun, make-believe world to play.”

“Really ... I don’t mind it at all.” The blast of cold air from the lobby was like a shock to her system, even now Violet was not accustomed to the sudden change of too-hot to too-cold instantaneously. “I can’t lie, I’m a little excited to go home. But my parents are just a state over so it’ll be an empty house.”
aaron-lancaster:
She smiled, looking at their steps walk up to the gigantic building where some of her friends were kept, “That’d would probably be for the best. Thank you, Vi, it means a lot and you know you don’t have to do this if you really really don’t want to.”
“I promise I wouldn’t offer it if it wasn’t something that I didn’t want to do. I don’t even know how to lie. I can’t be insincere like that.” Which was, unsurprisingly, the truth. Violet had a rough time lying about ... anything. More than that -- she was absolutely not bluffing Aaron. Their move to the building would only take a few minutes, then a few minutes more from the lobby. The idea of nice, relaxing air conditioning with the movie in general was genuinely appealing. A good way to end the trip.
aaron-lancaster:
“I can try,” she mumbled, playing with the fabric of her t-shirt. “I will, yea. I promise.”
She felt her lips automatically purse, the motion to wrap an arm around Aaron’s small shoulders came as the natural next step. Drawing her friend close, Violet began the slow traipse for the rooms. “We never have to talk about it if you don’t feel like it. We’ll just ... take you away from it. My parents won’t mind, them.”
aaron-lancaster:
“I’m sure the Griswold family will be very accepting, right? Chevy Chase, yea.. I haven’t seen much with him but he’s funny.”
“You’re really gonna love this, then. Hey Aaron ... can I ask you a favor? If anything ... bothers you like this again, you come to me, alright? I’m not very imposing, me. The most I can do is bark but I can promise a safe place, always.”
aaron-lancaster:
“Thanks, maybe next time it will be better. Or hey! Maybe there won’t be a next time. Nothing like Christmas in July, right?”
“Maybe there doesn’t have to be a next time. Exactly, Christmas in July is wonderful, especially when you spend it with the Griswold family. Do you like Chevy Chase?”
aaron-lancaster:
“You’re right, I just wish I wasn’t so weak in front of them, but I’ll just save it for later. Christmas Vacation? I’ve never seen it, is it any good or am I about to find out?”
“You’re not weak. You’re human. Don’t ever call yourself weak. It’s not fair for them to attack you like that. You did good. Christmas Vacation is a wonderful, amazing, and my absolute favorite seasonal movie. I think you’ll love it.”
aaron-lancaster:
“I’ll try not to, it’s just… It doesn’t matter, they’re not worth it, right? Comedy sounds like the perfect way to end the trip.”
“Right, they aren’t. Just the people you deem worth it are. Fuck the rest. Oop -- err, bad on them. Anyway. How about Christmas Vacation? I know it’s nowhere near, but that movie always kills me.”
aaron-lancaster:
Aaron smiled at the girls warm smile, “Okay,” she mumbled. “Thank you, it’s always nice to see someone offering a hand.”
“Seriously just ... don’t let them get to you. It’s what they try to do. They target people out and just ... come on. What kind of movie are you in the mood for? I’m thinking comedy.”
Isn’t it scary how one second you’re life is fine and then the next it’s like a hurricane swept over you? How’d they even know?
aaron-lancaster:
“People are jerks. Ignore them. Come on, I’m having a Florida trip ending party in my room. We’re watching movies. You’re on the VIP list.”

And when it showed the proud fool couldn’t hide his pearly white smile, chest filled with a sure pound to his step, all unaware of her small trickery. The word, however, nearly had him still if only to make sure he had hear Violet correctly. Soon. It made all the banter and jest a solid action. It showed the anticipation and eagerness he hadn’t though she would admit to if she even thought those things. One word and his jaw was slack, staring to confirm everything he had intended for the evening seemed too far away for the both of them and rather skip it all for the moment’s surprise. “Yeah,” he spoke, wetting his lips that had dried too fast. “Soon. Come on.” His voice was light, his rush to the lobby slowed but his grip on her hand firm and unrelenting of its tighter grasp.
She needed to hear the confirmation. Her own pace was slow without his coaxing, her shoulder taught and at very firm attention. The most important thing to this moment, to this evening, was his confirmation of the subject. As innocent, naive, gentle as Violet was ... he wound her up. She had her own needs, whims, and his taunting mannerisms only drove her toward achieving them. Violet released a breath she was unaware was stuck deep in her chest when he responded. Yeah. Soon. Come on. ... ok. Tugged along, not a single fret or worry in her mind, Violet went. For all she knew he was leading her astray, further from the beaten path towards any number or horrors or treachery but with a sweet promise of delightful sin she was more than willing to trail along. She gave a tight squeeze to his grasp, hushing heavy breaths from her lips with gentle gasps, nearly too soft to be heard.
