About Me!

Hello, you can call me Vanity! He/she/vae. I'm an adult, and this blog is not recommended for those under 16.

♕. This is a personal writing blog for myself to write what I fancy (typically, hero x villain, royalty, etcetera etcetera). I accept prompt or ficlet requests at the moment, though I reserve the right to refuse if the prompt doesn't take my fancy or I'm uncomfortable.

♕. I am in a relationship, please don't make any advances towards me.

♕. Any disrespect will not be tolerated! I am not afraid to block.

♕. I won't write for canon characters! Original characters are my wheelhouse. I might occasionally write about my own, but mostly I'll address characters as their role (hero, prince, etcetera). I'm not afraid to write queer stories! The queerer the better.

♕. Despite how formal I'm being here, I'm generally sociable and love to talk! Feel free to send me an ask if you want to talk heroes, villains or any manner of fiction.

Prompt (#11)

“They all think you're dead.”

The villain had the absolute nerve to laugh.

“What an observation,” the villain replied.

“Don't laugh at me! They think you're dead– I thought you were dead!”

There was more pain laced into the hero's voice than they would have wanted. After a moment of silence, the villain turned to them, a strained smile on their face.

“And what? Now you're disappointed to see me alive?”

The hero wished that was the truth. They wished they were disappointed rather than relieved. Wished they hadn't been so insanely distressed when the villain “died” they lost sleep for weeks.

“... Let's say that.”

Prompt (#10)

“What a lovely night, hm?”

The hero jumped, turning around quickly to see the villain standing not that far away. Could the hero really be blamed for being surprised? A solitary rooftop isn't exactly a popular place for company. They expected to be alone.

“Villain! What are you doing–”

“Relax, dear. I don't have any ill will.”

As hard as that was to believe, the hero didn't stop the villain from advancing towards them. They stood at the edge of the roof together, the villain looking up.

“The sky is beautiful tonight, is it not?”

“...I suppose it is.”

Supervillain monologuing to the entire civilization of Villains: I will burn this world down and remake it into a thriving, beautiful metropolis where we will all be free to do as we wish without all that bullshit --

Hero (leaning against the wall, studying their nails): Language.

*everyone turns to look at Hero in shock; they didn't see them come in*

Hero: Oh, were you having like an epic bad guy moment there? Sorry for that man, I’ll just back up and you take from the top…

Supervillain: What-what are you doing here? Didn't I kill you?

Villain (hanging from the ceiling): Yeah, well, it clearly didn't work did it?

Supervillain: AND DIDN'T I FIRE YOU?

Villain: *shrugs*

Supervillain: AND HOW DID YOU TWO EVEN GET IN THIS IS THE MOST FORTIFIED BUILDING IN THE WORLD?

Villain: Well I'm glad you asked allow me to explain my brilliant idea -

Hero: You mean my brilliant idea --

Supervillain: Why do I even bother -- what do you two want?

Hero: Um, it's literally in my name. I'm a hero. I'm here to beat up villains. So unless you can prove yourself to be a good guy in the next two seconds it’s gonna get ugly.

Villain: i am so in love with you right now.

“Boss, when you said you wanted to lure in the hero, this isn't really… what I had in mind?”

The villain looked away from the candle they were lighting atop the nicely decorated table, plates readied on either side.

“Did I ask for your opinion on this?”

Prompt (#8)

“I had a dream about you last night.”

Not a sentence one usually expects to hear after a fight. The villain looked up from the ground, catching the hero's eye from across the way. The hero seemed awkward, almost embarrassed to say it. Intriguing.

“Oh? And what was this dream about?” The villain asked, trying painfully hard not to sound too interested.

“Nothing! Just… you weren't being as– villainous as usual, I suppose.” They paused, then. As if debating to share the next part. “We spent time together. As if we were dear friends. How peculiar, right?”

The hero laughed. The villain was silent for a moment. Such a pure dream. It would be selfish of the villain to admit they wanted something similar.

“Peculiar indeed.”

“i think we’re friends now.” “God, don’t say that.”

“everything is just a competition for you… isn’t it?” “isn’t it for you, too?”

“h—” “don’t talk to me.”

“i’d pay good money for you to admit you tolerate me.” “tolerate being the operative word.”

“why can’t you open up to me?” “why do you want me to?”

they’re so used to hating each other sometimes the snide remarks just slip out LMAO

like “should i get you something too?” “you can get out of my fa— woah, hehe. sorry.”

“you’re still on that?” “still on that..??? STILL ON THAT?????? I CANT STAND YOU???!!!(!;!”

a whispered moment between them ; “i’m trying so hard to hate you.” “why?”

they’re trying hard to hate each other then something happens (plot) and they’re stuck together which makes it ten times harder

“be honest with me.” “but why? why would i do that?”

“stop.” “stop what?” “being so kind to me.”

remember… they hated each other a couple chapters back. what changed? why did it change? who did it start to change in first?

the moment where your character asks themselves; “when did this nuisance become so important to me?”

Prompt (#7)

The morning sunlight shone in through the window, the tiny gap in the curtains letting in enough light to rouse the hero. They groaned, rubbing at their eyes. Waking with the sun wasn't new, and they were prepared for it like they were every other day. The difference between every other day and today is the fact that they weren't alone in their bed. As they moved, the person in bed behind them tightened their grip on the hero's waist, pressing a sleepy kiss to their back.

“Don't get up yet,” the villain murmured.

“I have work today,” the hero replied. “If I don't show up, people will ask questions–”

“Let them ask,” they said resolutely, moving their kisses up to the hero's neck. “It’s not like I'm out there scheming. The city's safe.”

They raised a good point.

Prompt (#6)

“This could all be so simple, dear hero!” The villain cooed, strolling around the chair the hero currently lay exhausted on. “So, so easy. Just… swap sides. Join me. And together, we could–”

“Sure.”

“I– sure? What do you mean, sure??”

The hero looked up at the villain, and they finally saw the absolute exhaustion in the hero's eyes.

“I'm sick of fighting for people that don't care. I'll join you, sure. If for nothing else, at least for a change.”

The villain stared at them, willing themself to feel proud, or at least smug! All they felt was pity.

“This… really wasn't how I intended this to go.”

Prompt (#5)

The hero had been hurt in battle many times before. They were used to the pain, and they accepted it. It came with the job. But, they noticed, their nemesis in particular never hurt them too badly. It came across that way to the public, but it only ever really took some bandages. Subconsciously, the hero began to lighten up on the villain too. Their fights became like a dance, almost. A beautiful, dangerous dance.

Of course, they were bound to step on each other's toes eventually. It came one day when their fight was particularly heated, and their punches were swung harder and faster than normal. The villain caught the hero, and with their strength managed to throw the hero backwards, sending them flying, only to be stopped by a painful collision with the wall. The hero cried out, hitting the floor.

The world spun a little, and it took them a moment to recover from it. Their back was suddenly aching, and they were frozen in shock for a moment.

That wasn't as shocking as what the villain said next, though.

“Fuck,” they breathed, hurrying over to the hero. “How bad did I hurt you? I'm sorry, I–”

“You're… what?”

“How did you know I was in trouble?” The hero asked, blinking quickly to adjust to the light that came with the blindfold being removed. The villain looked down at them with such a strange expression, as if the answer was obvious.

“You didn't show up to defeat me. We both know you'd never skip me.”

There was a strange form of truth in that. The villain extended their hand, and the hero took it.

The hero's sidekick asked, as if the answer wasn't obvious. The hero had been waiting in the spot they and their nemesis usually meet at for a solid hour, looking left and right and tutting as if it would speed things along.

“I have no idea what you're talking about.”

“Do you think I'm stupid?”

“...No.”

Their sidekick sighed, then groaned, then went and plopped themself down beside the hero, joining them in their watch.

“Something gives me the feeling you're not just watching out in case they commit a crime,” the sidekick stated.

“...And if I am?” Came the sheepish reply.

“Just be honest, man. When are you going to admit you're into them?”

BONUS:

Wrong place, wrong time maybe? The villain's henchman isn't quite sure what to do with the information they've just overhead.

Whatever they decide to do, they slip back into the shadows without a trace, back to the hideout to dwell on this.
