For those who don’t know, after two other brief marriages, Allen Ludden was Betty’s husband from 1963 till his death in 1981 due to stomach cancer. He was a popular gameshow host and emcee, best known for Password, on which Betty often guest starred. In fact, that’s how they met! While Betty never had any kids of her own, she loved being a stepmother to Allen’s three kids who’d lost their mother to cancer as well. She never regretted not having kids of her own, feeling her life fulfilled being with Allen and his kids and focusing on her career and her work as an animal advocate.

She was often quoted that Allen was the love of her life and other celebrities remarked on their loving relationship in Hollywood. So while our loss is indeed sad, we can be happy their together again.
