I don’t normally reblog ANYTHING about weight loss or diet, primarily due to the fact that I’m a survivor of pretty severe anorexia. I make the exception for this wonderful woman right here because everything about her message is inspiring and her way of discussing eating healthy and even weight loss is in a very supportive manner. I haven’t read her cookbook but I’ve given a look to the previews and her social media and I think I can get behind just about everything she stands for.

She started selling nutritious meals on campuses in her neighbourhood at just 17. She made it into one of the most prestigious chef schools early on, her clients are some of the most humble celebrities out there, she got invited to the white house to talk about clean energy. She shows in a lot of her work that you can be sexy and successful, that no one can tear your legitimacy as a community leader down for being a woman who embraces sexuality. There are even parts of her cookbook focused on embracing it!

The only “bad” reviews her book has received are just people complaining she acted out on Chopped, which of course she’d be torn to shreds for. Being called obnoxious and loud and improper, simply for pointing out the culinary rules she followed that were ignored by her opponent, an opponent who never got called out on their own shit. The people demonizing her don’t know what it’s like to be held to a completely different standard.

It’s a great cookbook for people looking for high-presentation, well thought out meals that never sacrifice nutrition nor pleasure. It’s also just supposed to be a really feel-good read reminding you to love and take care of yourself. Unlike other cookbooks that try to sell weightloss to you at the caveat that your body isn’t sexy enough, there’s a whole lot of focus on beauty coming from within here.

If you’re curious about what kind of food she makes, check her instagram. While it’s high-presentation meals, there’s a huge baseline presented for inexpensive, healthy ingredients combined for a tasty and energizing way to eat. It’s more robust and satisfying than your average instagram raw food diet trend.
