Ben Barnes as THE DARKLING in Shadow and Bone
oftragxdy:
Luella’s eyes flickered from the highly attractive man, towards the crowd. She supposed she understood what he meant. Having people to cheer you on, whether you knew them or not, would definitely be a booster when in the ring. It felt like something her maker would have been into. Something he might have even signed her up for to prove herself worthy. “Very true.” She nodded. “I’m sure you could make your own crowd though. As long as you start the fight in a well populated area.” She licked her lips as her eyes found his once more. “You don’t even know me and you have that much hope for my potential?” Luella laughed, tilting her head to the side. “So would I be a worthy opponent for you, then?”
Sebastian wasn’t a hard man to please. Good fight, good crowd. It was all he really needed to get him through an evening. They spoke lightly about the Slaughter Ring as though people weren’t mere moments away from getting mutilated in front of them. Though the woman in front of him didn’t seem particularly keen on going through the ringer she was still here, still watching the fights same as him. “‘Spose I could.” He taps his glass thoughtfully before turning his full attention to her. “Perhaps. I know someone scrappy when I see them.” Seb smirks, taking a sip of his whisky. “Maybe one night we’ll have to go a few rounds and see if you keep up.” He sticks his hand out to her for a greeting. “Sebastian Miller. You been to the ring before?”
lxzuli:
The only thing the fae wanted from this ordeal was bloodshed. He’d signed up that shitty, annoying fae, and really, he wished there were more he could have signed up. If all of Myre Grove fell? Well, he wouldn’t have been all that concerned. It meant there’d be less pressure on him. Either way, this year’s SRS had been quite the show`
Lazuli noticed who had sat down next to him seemingly before the vampire realized. When he was finally acknowledged, he gave the other a little smirk and draped one arm over them. “Do you think I’d really put my life on the line for these fuckers, Seb? Don’t make me laugh.”
There was know doubt in his mind he would have enjoyed competing in the Slaughter Ring. He liked the fanfare and heated crowds that craved a good show but he prided his survival above all us. Sebastian knew himself. Knew he would go down bloodied and fighting. That alone was partially the reason he didn’t sign up. He was prideful sure but he also knew that everyone had weaknesses, including himself. If someone managed to get the upper hand and it came down to taking the blade or taking the loss he would always choose the blade. “And let’s thank the Devil you didn’t. Hate to lose such a pretty face so early on.” He plucks his drink from the bar top as Laz throws his arm around him, warmth from the fae and the booze spreading across his chest. “But I’m sure you’d give ‘em a good show.”

The morbid curiosity that had brought Violet out to the Slaughter Ring was quickly being replaced by a knot in her chest. Bloodshed, violence, fangs and claws meeting cold steel wasn’t anything she hadn’t seen before. It was her whole life, everything she’d been raised around. There was a part of her that had been excited, notebook and pen poised and ready against the barricade to scratch down any notes that came to mind. All research. All business. Then a head goes flying across the ring and Violet’s stomach drops cold. Her excitement burned down to a cruel reminder where her place on the food chain was.
She’s seen enough for now but she knows the night isn’t over. Her friends, her family inside needed her. A familiar face to cheer them on from the sidelines. Violet makes her way outside, knocking a pack of cigarettes against her palm. She rarely smokes but always kept a pack on hand for the occasional anxiety attacks that threatened to cloud her rational. “Guess I made bets a little too early.” She says out loud, working to keep her hand from shaking as she fumbles with her lighter. “After that last one l’m not sure how the rest of the matches are gonna go.”
oftragxdy:
“Why do you regret it?” Luella asked, glancing towards the other vampire. She hadn’t signed up for her own reasons. Mostly because she didn’t care to fight other supernaturals when she didn’t have a reason to. “I’m sure you could fight someone elsewhere if you genuinely wanted to.” She said, a smile forming on her lips. “Might even find a more challenging foe.” A smirk as she lowered her glass down to settle on the counter. “Oh yes. Always next year, if you’re into this kind of thing.” She motioned towards the ring. “I don’t see why I wouldn’t be able to make it past at least two rounds. Now, would I be able to win?” Luella shrugged. “There’s really no way of telling.”
He sets his glass down, tucking his chin onto his hand. “Well sure I could go picking fights wherever I wanted but it’s not really as fun unless there’s a roaring crowd cheering you on.” He straightens at that, gaze narrowing thoughtfully. “Or cheering for your demise. Either way there’s a crowd though.” Sebastian smirks unafraid to poke fun at his own ego. He turns back towards the other vampire. I guess not everyone was interested in murder-for-entertainment. Yet she found her way to the Slaughter Ring for one reason or another. “Don’t sell yourself so short. I’m sure you could make it to at least round three.”

Copper and sweat clung to the air in thick, delicious layers. Sebastian’s head had been swimming throughout the entire night. He loved a good bloodbath. Add in drinks and a frenzied crowd and it was making out to be a perfect evening. He had a good spot for a few separate rounds, watching with darkened eyes one bloody fight after the next. A few conceded but he supposed that was to be expected. Not everyone was here to get their heads torn off like a trophy. Pity. Still a few matches managed to pique his interest. It wasn’t too hard to entertain him really. Between rounds he made his way to the bar setup, needing something bitter on his tongue.
“I’m starting to regret not signing up.” He muses to the person next to him, tapping his finger on his glass as he glances back over his shoulder at the ring with a sigh. “I didn’t realize I’d be itching for such a fight.” His tone was almost mockingly sad. “I suppose there’s always next year though. What about you. Think you’d be able to last?” He looks at them expectantly, an easy grin across his lips.

Aiden absolutely hated fighting. He wouldn’t even be here if it wasn’t for the fact that somehow Boone’s name had ended up on the list of fighters, and Axel had volunteered himself. He could call it stupid until he was blue in the face, but he also understood why Axel had done it… He didn’t understand why anyone would ever nominate Boone but they must have their suspicions about him, giving the ring name of ‘the unawakened’. He was so nervous he was shaking, his eyes glazed over as eyes stayed on the ring, trying not to let the nausea overtake him. “Do you really think people will die here?” The scientist asked, swallowing thickly as he spoke absent-mindedly to the person next to him. “I can’t believe people are actually betting on peoples lives.”
The crowd held firm as Violet tried to elbow her way through, one hand clutching a bag of popcorn the other a ratted spiral notebook. One of many she carried on her. The stench of sweat, blood and rust clung to the air only intensified by the chaotic energy of the crowd. Violet wouldn’t lie and say her morbid curiosity, like so many others, hadn’t brought her here. It was a chance to get up close and see what these creatures could really do from the fragile ringside barrier between them. She spots the back of a head that looks particularly familiar and tucks her notebook away as she fights through the crowd to get to him, bumping up next to Aiden just as he speaks. “Absolutely.” She says almost nonchalantly, throwing some popcorn in her mouth, her gaze looking forward. They had their own friends thrown into the ring and it was easy to worry but their line of profession and the world they lived in put them in harm’s way every day as it is. “At least a few of them. Did you make any?” Violet turns to Aiden. “Bets that is?”
( imogen poots, 29, cisfemale, she/her, human, scientist ) It’s been a while since we’ve seen VIOLET DEAN. I hear they’re a HUMAN and they reside on the WESTSIDE. They’re known to frequent THE ARCHIVES (when they’re not busy with RESEARCH & TINKERING IN THEIR WORKSHOP) and have made a place at OLD COMPOUND, UNIT 6. Some may say they act RECKLESS & INCESSANT, while others claim they are CHEERFUL & LOYAL. With that being said, they’ve found the State of Calamity.
