April is sexual assault awareness month. I knew I wanted to make a post, but I have no intention of ever sharing my experiences on here so it took me a while. However, I do have a couple things I want to say: No matter how cliche it might sound, it really does get better with time. Eventually you will be able to look at yourself in the mirror without feeling disgusting. You will be able to look at yourself after a shower without breaking down at the sight of your body, and you will eventually be able to tell people what happened. Telling people is the most liberating feeling. However, it's completely okay to not be ready to tell people. No matter what happened to you, how small or huge is might feel, you experienced something nobody should ever have to go through, and you're allowed to process that in your own way at your own pace. if you experienced any form of sexual assault, I hope you will be able to get the help/support you need. Nobody should ever have to go through that. You are strong and your feelings are 100% valid. Please reach out to your friends/family if you feel like you might be a danger to yourself. Don't let your assaulter win, they don't deserve that.
