@violetsarentblue: My nose has been running all day.. It better be preparing for a race or something because I don't want to be sick.
petals;Ā for a hot-tempered, warmhearted, guilt-ridden violet.
@violetsarentblue: this is probably my third time watching criminal minds all the way through & i'm already almost halfway done..
āYou know, I had hoped moving out of my parents house years ago would have symbolized that Iām an adult and can fend for myself. Ever since these creepy attacks started, my parents wonāt stop calling me and trying to get me to have dinner with them almost every night. Then I miss one phone call, and theyāre ready to call in the SWAT team. I doubt they would try to pull this shit with any of my brothers. I should have moved away when I had a chance.ā
āAt least you know they care now, yāknow? It might be overbearing with them being all protective but I think itād be kind of shitty if they didnāt care about your safety. I guess I donāt know the whole situation so maybe Iām wrong but.. I guess it would have been good to move away, considering everything..ā
The girl seemed to take his joke for what it was. She looked young and for a moment it crossed his mind that it really wasnāt all that safe to be out right then. āI know.ā The words didnāt sound as cocky as they mightāve if they werenāt the slightest bit slurred. āWhatāre you doing out in the cold?ā
āI was on my way home from studying at the library and I thought Iād just,ā She shrugged,Ā āStop and enjoy the weather,ā It was probably a little difficult to believe that she would actually want to enjoy the weather-- or that she even could enjoy it, considering it was near freezing,Ā āThereās no one out here so itās quiet, yāknow? Kind of like Iām--,ā She cut herself off and sighed, shaking her head,Ā āNever mind. I was just enjoying the peace.ā
I need a drink. Wrote three pages today and deleted all of them. I canāt write nothinā but shit.
āThree pages is a lot to erase. Maybe youāre being too critical of yourself? Or maybe you just donāt have the right inspiration. You could try reading another book? Sometimes writers get inspiration from other writers, right? Maybe Iām just making shit up, I donāt know. What usually inspires you?ā
Everything was blurred around the edges and he reminded himself not to drink so much next time. It wasnāt good for his image to be seen this way. āWouldnāt even know if I told you.ā He pointed out as he moved closer to the voice. āI wasnāt planning on it.. but that can change.ā He was joking but his tone didnāt quite nail it.
"Ha,ā She forced a laugh,Ā āHa ha,ā It was better to assume he was joking, although she wasnāt one hundred percent sure with the way it came off. She moved her bag from the bench to her lap, not wanting to lose it again,Ā āFunny,ā She said after the long pause,Ā āThatās.. Thatās funny.ā
Felix was walking home from the bar and decided to go through the park. Sometimes he caught sight of clients but mostly he just needed time to think as he walked. Not that that was entirely possible since heād had more than he meant to which is why he was walking in the first place. When he heard someone call out he raised a brow. āYeah.. me.ā
She squinted her eyes in the dark, trying to make out the figure that the voice had come from,Ā āOkay well,ā She shifted a bit on the bench, tucking her arms into her jacket,Ā āWho are you?ā She let out a shaky huff of air, the cold getting to her now that she wasnāt lost in thought,Ā āYouāre not going to, yāknow... Kill me or anything, are you?ā There was a tiny bit of hopefulness in her voice, although it was mostly masked by her quiet tone.
Violet had been out later than she should have been. Her parents thought she was at the public library. It had gotten dark about an hour and a half ago and it was so cold she could see her own breath in the air. She knew she should have been heading home by now, but it was the last place she wanted to be. Sitting on a park bench with her hands between her thighs for warmth, her body tensed up as she thought she heard footsteps approaching,Ā āHello?ā She called out,Ā āIs anyone there?ā
āLook, just because Iām nice and you made me feel bad, I promise Iāll only fire half of them, alright?ā
āReally? Youāre being serious? You promise? You have to promise.ā
āI mean that Iām used to it, so itās not like itās a bad thing per say.ā He shrugged. Ā "Well Iāve gotā Uhā Some friends, I guess. And my sister. But sheās in college. Itās enough, y'know?ā He wanted to add āmost of the timeā, but the last thing he wanted was to make Violet feel sorry for him. "Iā Sure. Here.ā He said, raising an eyebrow at her while handing her his phone.
"Well... Being used to something doesnāt mean itās a goodĀ thingĀ either,ā There were a lot of things sheād gotten used to that werenāt good, but she didnāt want to think about any of that right now. She smiled at him before taking his phone. After about a minute-- maybe less-- of typing, sheād finished putting her number in his phone and handed it back to him,Ā āThere. Now the ball is in your court to get a hold of me again-- if you ever want to, that is.āĀ
āItās okay. I kinda stay in my lane. Most people donāt notice me either wayā He quickly said, feeling like something heād said mightāve upset her. But then, it was his turn to sigh when Stevieās name was mentioned. āYeah. Was. I donāt know. Kind of complicated.ā Oliver said, frowning slightly. āNo, youāre not an ass-ā He stopped himself, not wanting to curse. āDonāt beat yourself over that, y'know?ā He shrugged and smiled at her. āYeah, itās been nice talking to you too, Violet.ā
āJust because itās something that most people do doesnāt mean itās right or that itās okay though, does it? I hate to get like, deep and all that but not being noticed by anyone must get kind of old? I donāt know.. Just a thought..ā She furrowed her brow, feeling curious but not wanting to pry if it would upset him. Maybe sheād ask Steve later, āBummer,ā She left it at that, shrugging back at him, before tilting her head a little,Ā āHey, can I see your phone again for a sec?ā
āThat sounds like a problem of theirs. If they wanted to keep their jobs, they shouldāve done a better work. I need results and Iām not getting them, kiddo. Thatās how life works in the corporate world. Sucks, but you gotta learn to deal with it.ā
āWell.. Donāt hold this against all the interns you get, especially the younger ones. I still say donāt let a few bad apples spoil a bunch. It would suck if you treated the next batch shittier just because these ones failed.ā
āIām usually notā He said, shaking his head. āBut you know. Most of my friendsāā He stopped himself, his mind quickly going to Steve. Shaking his head once again, he crossed his arms in front of his chest. āAnyway.ā As she introduced herself, Oliver smiled. āI know. Iāve seen you around at school. You haveā The twin, right?ā He made a face before shaking her hand. āIs it weird that I know that? Iāmā Oliver. Yeah.ā
She shook her head,Ā āNo no, itās not weird.. Most people know as a pair anyway so itās actually pretty uh, pretty common,ā She felt a pang in her chest thinking about her brother. He never talked to her anymore and she missed being close to him. Violet sighed quietly and then shook her head again,Ā āI feel like kind of an asshole for not recognizing you,ā She laughed, a slight guilty tone in her voice,Ā āYouāre friends with Stevie, arenāt you? Honestly, Iām such an asshole for not recognizing you, wow,ā She really did feel guilty now. Sheād seen him around a lot, although theyād never actually talked until now. Violet didnāt realize she was always so wrapped up in her own thoughts, but maybe she was,Ā āWell, again, Oliver-- itās been really nice talking to you.ā
āLikeā Three? Or four, I can never know. Two of them look like they could be twins. Look, kiddo, donāt worry about my interns okay? Iāll handle them.ā
āItās just getting close to Thanksgiving and Christmas and it would just suck to get fired so close to the holidays.. But itās your decision, I guess.. Iām a twin but weāre fraternal so I never really had to worry about people getting us mixed up. ā
āWeāve got a deal then, mateā He joked, before winking at her. And then blushing, because he suddenly realized winking was a weird gesture. āDude, I love Harry Potter. But I think that if I were to start doing cosplay, Iād be more of a Harry. Iāve got the wand and anything. Waitā I didnāt mean that in a dirty way, alright? Sorry.ā He said, feeling his cheeks go red again. āI can promise I will never show up smelling like the inside of an old shoe, okay? I shower and stuff.ā
She laughed when he tried to clarify his words. The fact that the words could have been dirty hadnāt even crossed her mind until he pointed it out,Ā āYouāre fine,ā She smiled at him,Ā āI donāt take you for theĀ āsexual innuendoā type so, I wouldnāt have taken it that way anyway,ā Violet watched his cheeks turn redder and redder, a gentle smile on her face as her eyes scanned over his face,Ā āIām Violet, by the way,ā She held out her hand towards him,Ā āItās been really nice to meet you.ā
āOh, they know. And they keep fucking it up, soā Iām not the kind of guy who repeats myself, you know?ā
āWell that really sucks, then.. Are you sure thereās nothing to do other than fire them? How many of them are there? Maybe itās only a few of them causing the problems and if you just get rid of those few, things will run more smoothly. My dad always says ādonāt let a few rotten apples spoil the whole bunchā. Maybe that applies here.ā
