What Recovery looks like, right now... Acne mask and castor oil hair conditioner My DIY secrets for clear skin (or as clear as my skin gets, anyway) and soft hair (which is also thinning). It doesn’t make me a supermodel but it does make me feel more comfortable in my skin. Mask: one egg, 1/4 cup cinnamon. Mix together and keep in the fridge, use every other day. What Recovery looks like, right now... #selfiesforselflove #yesfilter I just wanted to put some more #plussizepositive vibes out into the world. Totally by accident I also picked up a some #photographytricks, NOT because I’m trying to pretend my body is something it isn’t but rather because a few tweaks can help me feel good when I go to look at the photo and that’s really important! These tricks are shown in this photo but the photo has not been altered otherwise because we gotta love ourselves as we are, you know? 1. Use natural light 2. Take a partial face shot (cutting off the top half of my face made it ALOT easier to just take the damn photo and move on) 3. Stand with your body halfway in front of a wall and halfway in front of a window. The light from the window will come through to frame one side of your boy, which can help accent and soften your shape naturally without making it fuzzy. #selfiefilter #filterselfie 4. Body Recovery OOTD: Jumper & Leggings When you’re in recovery it can be daunting to think about getting dressed every morning. Your body is uncomfortable, you want to look nice but not feel exposed, and you need something you can comfortably wear all day even if bloat, pain, or other symptoms set it. A pair of thick leggings and a fuzzy jumper are my favorite option. And the feminine top looks great with boots, adding to the potential cool-but-comfortable factor. The best part is that if you take off the tunic and boots, you’ve instantly got something you could wear to yoga or if you want to stretch out or just get in a little #selfcare or #joyfulmovement while you’re at work. What Recovery looks like, right now... #nothingiswrong I love this scene from #prettyinpink when Annie Potts describes a friend of hers who sometimes gets this terrible feeling that something is wrong but, after checking for her keys and wallet and counting her kids, realizes nothing is wrong; she then blames this random panic on never having gone to prom. I feel like this often and I think it’s a side effect of having deeply disordered eating. Sometimes I’ll feel overwhelmed or stressed or anxious but nothing is in fact wrong. The bills are paid. The cats are alive. I have all of my work stuff set for the morning. Life isn’t perfect, of course, but at the moment there is no crisis to manage. But most of the time before I have any space to realize this I just fly by it and go stuff food into my face...a conditioned modern #fightorflight but with no fight. So I guess it makes more sense to say that the disordered eating is an effect of being in permanent #crisismode (at Avon, New York)
