Tabitha couldn’t help but smile eagerly at the situation that had presented itself to her. In front of her was a small child with a naive gleam in her eyes. Maybe not stupid. But nothing a little motherly attention couldn’t twist around.
“What are you doin’ so far away from camp, sweet-pea?” Tabitha tilted her head, kneeling down to her height.
Nikki felt horrible, and she already knew why. Not only was her aversion to town present, but the bustling sounds around here were bringing too many colors with them. Someone addressed her directly and the girl blinked, looking up quietly.
