and producing it might be illegal, but the story taking place in mexican province a couple hours away from mexico city makes SO much sense with the original context of their town that’s also that close to atlanta.

the thing about being "good with kids" is all it takes is literally just not trying to control and mould them with every interaction. it's just being a normal person and engaging with them through normal interactions like having conversations and playing games. it's just being genuine and friendly and not perceiving them as lumps of wet clay you are there to shape. SO PLEASED to inform you all we in fact did the dance and gave it our own personal twists. i went dressed as shelby/rae and they wore a brat t-shirt, which came ad hoc because she ended up singing girl so confusing!!! we also had this cute moment in ribs and shared the biggest tightest hug ever

missing jpitv, so i just wanted to restate how insane this moment is. i was one of those people who never suspected the twist, so probably even more so for me.

obviously what she reveals is horrific, but theatrically this is one of the single best moments i've ever experienced in a play or musical. the collective gasp from the entire audience, and then the way you're just plunged into darkness. my skin was on fire, and i was so shocked and uncomfortable that honestly my first instinct was to laugh. this play is so, so, incredible and the way the director and actors were able to deliver this should have its own award. theatre literally changes lives i'm not kidding.
