This Thursday's throwback post is dedicated to a dear friend whom we lost recently and so suddenly. As I was looking through my timeline for photos of us, I stumbled upon a note you wrote five years ago for your 26th birthday. It's your "26 thank you's" for the people who touched you the most in the previous year and somehow responsible for the updated version of yourself. You wrote: "Virna dear, thank you for telling me things that I never wanted to hear. You are right. We earn some and we lose some. Not all people will agree with us. Not all people will keep us and stay with us. Not all people we love will be there forever. You were so right in telling me that I have to live and do what we have to do. You've hit bulls eye and although it hurts, I needed all that to wake up and survive. Thank you for bringing me back into the motion. Thank you." My dearest Jaypee, I may have been one tough cookie on you. I may have said things but only because I truly care about you. You are a beautiful person my dear. You were so good in your craft but never proud. You were a cheerful soul but never loud. When at fault, our first instinct as humans would be to be defensive and arrogant. But you listen. You always listened. You listen to your boss, your friends, and even to people who are way younger than you are. You always chose humility. I only have fond memories of you my dear. When I think about you, I remember the friendship we have and the kind of person that you are. You have been nothing but a good friend and a kind man. As I said, not all people we love will be there forever. But the relationship we had with them will forever remain in our hearts. For everything that we had and everything that you are, I thank you. Thank you Jaypee for touching my life. You may have left us so suddenly and we may never understand why. But God has his reasons and that should be enough. Rest well my dear. You are in my heart.
