Half Man | 1x04
I feel it everywhere. It sort of runs through me in a way. It's like… dangerous. It is the best and the worst thing all at once. It's like the only thing. It's the only thing I've ever felt. It's like I'm fucking… high off of you or something. Chemically dependent. I don't know.
HALF MAN 1.06
Half Man // Fyodor Dostoevsky

when people use their laptops on the train i'm like is anything really THAT serious
The yaoifull rocks
taking issue with people sexualizing half man even though eroticism is literally a core tool the show uses to put us into the headspace of a protagonist who feels simultaneously terrified of and attracted to his abuser, who has been both aroused by and irreparably damaged by the things that have been done to him... if the use of eroticism in stories about abuse makes you uncomfortable i get it, its for sure not a tool to be wielded lightly, but sometimes it does serve a purpose and especially in the case of half man i think that to feel all the same feelings niall is feeling (arousal included) is to experience the show exactly as it was intended, like i really dont think richard gadd did All That just to have us sit quietly in our pews and not feel the terrifying heat behind ruben and nialls every interaction, in fact i think that to feel it is at the very heart of the human experience gadd is trying to convey with this story

"It’s a fitting last moment in their friendship. They just want to be close." - Phil Lord, director's commentary
The Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian (c. 1600), Bologna School / Viggo Mortensen in Eastern Promises (2007) dir. David Cronenberg
i think richard gadd understands more than most that people are just inherently weird and do strange things when put into Situations and stories are always more interesting and fun when you highlight the freakiness of it all rather than try and make it sweet or more easily digestible to people who won't even try and interact with it in good faith anyways
