Now that I've FINALLY fixed and updated the HTML on my page... I should probably share what I've been doing here too...
I've been making a game called "Make Your Move" (currently still working title but probably final...) It's a game about a bunch of chess girls in a chess world; an RPG where all of the battles are games of chess, where you play as the black knight piece named Amée and have to fight against the white pieces... that are all cheating!! wtf how dare they!!!
Here's some footage of a typical area 3-level battle from a slightly older prototype build:
(please note the green enemy here is not actually an enemy in the game, its a recolored pawn as a placeholder for the king)
Development has been going very nicely... just a few days ago i finished all of the systems required to make the game work (the battle system [THE BIG ONE], dialogue, cutscenes and script-based character movement, loot from chests, etc.) So now i can finally start making the game!! ive had the basic plot down since basically the start of development, along with a few other mid-story elements, but now i have to actually write the whole game and program all the cutscenes... zoinks...
It feels kinda weird to be here tbh. this isn't like a huge massive project for me, at least in my head. (Despite the fact that ive been doing LITERALLY EVERYTHING on my own… sprites and music and programming…) i only started this to see if i was even capable of programming a chess-like system with my current skill level in programming, so in my head this is still just a passion-project-fun-thing-on-the-side, but at the same time i'm acutely aware its quickly turning into something way bigger lmao i dont think it'll be any longer than 2 or 3 hours, but anymore than that and i'd probably have to quit going to school to work on it full time lmao
anyway, that's about it. enjoy the music and the gameplay!! im gonna keep cracking away at it, and maybe i'll have more to share with you soon :3
