My little brother is a bigger MJ fan than me…

Was, maybe, until I recently morphed into a superfan myself! I gave him a brief rundown of Michael’s life earlier today. On the subject of Joseph Jackson, he became extremely indignant and informed me that if he had a father like that, he would just “walk out and go live with a family who respects me!” Which is just - the cutest thing ever? But also so sad? Because it puts into perspective how messed up Michael’s childhood was through the eyes of a kid growing up in a loving household.

He also was really shocked hearing that the media made fun of Michael for his appearance (“but there’s nothing wrong with him! He looks so good!”)

I didn’t go into any detail on the allegations - he’s too young for all that. I just explained that Michael was accused of doing a very bad thing, and that some people still believe it. (He was offended by this. He wanted to throw hands. I reminded him that Michael wouldn’t want him to choose violence. He grudgingly conceded).

I was surprised how immediately he understood that people were going after Michael for money. I barely told him anything and he saw through the whole thing right away. It was actually very sweet how eager he was to defend Michael, I didn’t know he looked up to him that much.

Anyway, kids are smart, man. Moonwalkers are the same everywhere I guess!

WHAT AM I GONNA DO IN A SUBMARINE?!

ive spent the past several months working on this little yellow submarine retake project for my portfolio :3 genuinely wrote lore for all of this (which ill probably elaborate on later) BUT the actual character designs are done now..

i loaded this project with references and did so much research for it. i was pretty big into the beatles back in 2019-2020 so i guess it was only natural to return to it :) straight up bought the ys production book to learn more (and will probably buy volume 2 once that youtube paycheck comes in)

i intend to write my design process later, so keep an eye out if you’re interested!
