Pop-up/Click-Bait ads from the future [By @cofalylah2015]
My ‘Pop-up Ads’ artwork for my group project’s PDF.
I made sure to keep everything in grey scale for the rest of the pdf’s content.
We wanted to subtly give a deeper insight into the future we have created, e thus decided to do so through an advertisement page that you would find in a catalogue of the present. We also did so through the ‘currency’ of the future, using a barter system with bottles and bottle caps.
Work 2 and 3- Never miss a beat.
I have taken objects of today; an earphone, a phone chip and electrical wires; and have combined them in a new way in order to produce two new items that explore how music is heard and controlled in the future. The chip is designed to tune into an individual's emotions and mood in order to produce a personalised playlist to suit each person’s individual liking and need. Similaly, the earpiece device is designed to tune into the individual’s thoughts when put on, being able to tune into a livestream of any musical sort, for example, a concert, a club, a festival, or a live music event.
Work 1- A special gift for a special someone.
Authentic, packaged originals from the past that can be bought and directly sent to a loved one for a more sincere gesture.
Inspiration.
Birthday wishes in the future.
The way we wish people our best wishes is becoming more electronic and thus, less sincere. It is easy to simply click a profile and spend a mere few seconds typing a generic birthday wish to someone’s profile, but what will happen to the heartfelt wishes on cards? What will happen to this traditional custom in the future? Cards will become more valuable, more sincere and heartfelt and more special.
Researching the technical terms and understanding how my objects might work. Focusing on the idea of emotion and the ability to tune into certain thoughts in order to trigger the objects.

Inspiration.
What will concerts/ clubs/ festivals be like in the future? What if we didn’t have to physically go to them? What if they came to you?
Perhaps I can make a device that works as a personalised live stream item?

Silent disco
Looking at the way music is beginning to become more personalised, our future is not too far ahead of our time, thus, it would only be a matter of enhancing what our society of today is already starting to explore. The idea of a personalised playlist is extremely interesting to me and what I am exploring through both of my music items.

Thinking about what makes my objects items from the future. Am I simply just improving them? Or are they completely new items. The assignment asks us to explore how the past/present may influence the future of today, What would a future look like to us right now, considering our social values, views, etc?
It would be more personalised. Everything is becoming more personalised to the individual.
Behavioural analytics- the ability to examine user data in order to predict what the individual might want to do next. I am focusing on this idea for my music items. This path would give them the ability to target individuals based on what they like, by predicting what they will like. for my mood based chip, the chip is designed to constantly tune into an individual’s emotions in order to produce a playlist that is well suited for the type of music they feel like listening to. Similarly, the live stream object that I am making tunes into the individual’s thoughts so that it is able to pinpoint what the individual wants to tune into and where they want to tune into, whether being a concert, a club, a private musical event, etc.

Creating a group document during a group skype call
We got together as a group and figured out over skype exactly what we wanted to do. We are making a catalogue of the future, each of us are making a few ‘works’ which will be the items we are selling on the catalogue. I am doing items that focus on music and items that focus on celebrations.
Music in the future will be much more personalised, I am making a chip and an earpiece that tune into receptors of the cerebrum, the chip will produce playlists for the individual based on their mood and the earpiece will allow the individual to tune into a live concert, club, festival, music event, etc, much like a physical livestream.
I am also focusing on birthday cards/ birthday wishes in the future. How will people send their wishes to others? As social media has completely influenced the way we communicate with people to wish them well/ a happy birthday/etc, how would the future do the same? We thought about antiques of the present, how mundane objects of the past become valuable items of the future. We then thought about how the idea of physical birthday cards would eventually become something a lot more valuable and thoughtful in the future. We decided that we would advertise packaged original cards of the past that can be bought and directly sent to a loved one.
We also came up with the advertising paragraphs for each product which explained the items, their name and their value. Now it’s a matter of making all of these items, photographing them and accumulating them all into the pDF document.
