happy #hogtober! this lil booger got an upgrade recently and has been super photogenic
also just because i can here's a shitty photo of her new home. excuse the nasty glass, this housed fish at one point and i never could fully get the residue off. this is almost all live succulents and her first bioactive enclosure and she seems to be doing really well in it! i'll do a more in depth most with better pictures soon

can we just take a moment to appreciate my beautiful fluffy son
miso gets very excited about Worm Time™ i’ve made so much progress with her! she used to run and hide whenever she saw me and now she comes to the front and looks at me until i feed her and in conclusion i’m crying
she likes to climb on her log during the day and hang out under the UVB and i love her so much on that note, ALL of my reptiles actively bask in their UV lights. my leopard geckos, crested geckos, ball python, and especially emerald swifts all seem to be benefitting it from it a ton!
I’m currently looking to rehome one of my crested gecko males, Alex. He is incredibly sweet and awesome as an education animal, but I’m cutting back on geckos and want him to go to someone who will really love him.
He has an incredibly tolerant and sweet personality. He’s been my go-to education animal at shows and has given tons of people a great first reptile experience! He also grows fat on air, lol, so he doesn’t need much food. This guy is a buddy and will be a great best friend for someone.
I’m asking $125 (shipping included) to make sure he goes to a great home.
also! finally got some better pictures of the big leopard gecko palace! this was my first ever arid vivarium, and while I failed at growing live plants in here i don’t think the fake ones look all too bad.
still wish i had a way to photograph all the little details and tunnels that make up this enclosure because it has so many fun little facets and hides but i can’t get into them.
the clean up crew in here is just superworms and darkling beetles. i have a tiny breeding group of the beetles any and they do a great job of keeping the enclosure clean but emit a gross musk so my leos have no interest in eating them haha

Does anyone know how to make a digging box for leopard gecko? Luke is showing all the signs of boredom
If it’s just a box you want, you can cut a gecko-sized hole in some Tupperware (sand or melt down the edges to make them smooth!) and fill it with substrate. I’ve heard good things about Arcadia’s Arid EarthMix but I currently use a spaghnum moss/eco earth mix for my leos to dig around in. Remember to stay away from calcium sand and just sand in general!
You could also just make a little pit in the enclosure if you wanna go for a more naturalistic approach. For reference, one of my enclosures is built from excavator clay and I carved out little “digging pools” so that they have digging opportunities. Since it’s just in a small isolated area, there’s a minimal chance of them ingesting the substrate. My leos LOVE digging around in the substrate and tracking it everywhere so I’m constantly sweeping it back into the pits, of course but it’s really great for enrichment purposes.

Help needed. Java my bp tore off some hrad scales on a big slab of rock. Ive removed the slab from the enclosure but it look kinda bad to me and since her last shed theres been some skin stuck on. Ive tried for hours to gently rub it off i got a lot of it but should i be worried about the rest? Does it look bad enought to go to the vet? And are tgere any treatments i can do on my own? Please let me know any suggestions and signal boost if you can!
A vet would be your best bet here! That’s a pretty bad scrape and if she’s shedding but it’s still not healing a vet visit is your best bet to get her checked out and possibly put on meds.
Try not to mess with it too much! Pulling stuck shed from a scrape like this may just further irritate the wound. If it’ll be a sec before you can get in with a vet, you may be able to find something to keep it hydrated and safe from infection online. If I can find something I’ll reblog and add a link.
Until you can get her in, I would recommend setting up a sterile bin enclosure with minimal decorations and just a few (smooth) hides for security to prevent infection. Good luck!!!!!
Okay so I found a link for a product I’ve used before with good results! Dilute some hibuclens (chlorhexidine diacetate) with water, there’s instructions in the link provided to do so safely but from what I’ve researched it’s a safe recommended treatment method. You can find Hibuclens at most drug stores but the one that I linked is probably your best bet since I have no idea what kind of additives could be in the drugstore stuff.
I can personally vouch that this stuff is super useful! I had a crested gecko escape her enclosure and my roomates cat found her before I did. I used this diluted on a paper towel to clean off her dropped tail stub and the small scratch on her back leg for two weeks and it healed incredibly well without any infection whatsoever and I think it was the only thing that kept my crestie from succumbing to the gross bacteria cats carry.
