Thanks for the compliments :DDD Honestly mine is also a bunch of disjointed scenes, I just haven't shared them yet š I don't know if I'm qualified to share writing tips since I write so sloppily but I'll try!
I mainly developed Superstarry through just outlining a story I'd like and looking at inspiration. For example, I watched a couple of episodes of Entourage (a 2004 show about 4 friends and celebrity life) to get a feel for the vibe and keep it in the back of my mind. I even watched the entirety of Flack (a show about pr agents solving celebrity problems) to get a feel for what I wanted out for NumPr (and specifically Pin). I also ended up finding a show I liked which was fun!
It's also a matter of scope I suppose. Despite every character being involved, the story mainly revolves around Firey, Coiny, Pin, and Leafy. Even though tennis ball and nickel are in ITEM, they're still secondary characters to the plot. I have ideas for stories with other characters (mainly pencil, winner and loser), but I keep those to the side. In my head I call them seasons 2 and 3 lol.
For a BFDI AU like this, it's kinda just a matter of slotting characters into interesting roles/careers and building interesting stuff from that (especially since BFDI has way more notable characters than the average show). You can have fun with it too, which I did with my Magazine Covers. Having to write all the little side tidbits was exhausting but it forced me to think about how the other characters exist in the world.
As for posting, it helped to show off as much as I could at once.
On Tumblr (back in Superstarry V1 lol) I posted pictures of ITEM on these poster type things and made a comic about Coiny. I initially had a sort of non-chronological way of posting about Starry which wasn't very attention grabbing. After I revised the AU (and started posting on Tiktok) I used a more "show first, raise questions later" approach, which worked well.
On Tiktok I made a quick video that showed off ITEM as fast as possible to a trending audio. I also posted a video that hinted at Superstarry's initial plot to build interest. I also made this video that showed off a bunch of other contestants in rapid succession. That video in particular is my most viewed to this day (Cary even commented :D). That was kind of a lightning in a bottle moment though, but the idea is that showing off as many characters as possible to grab attention helps. This is BFDI, people love their favs! Those magazine covers were helpful too, since it relayed a bunch of info and it's fun to try and find ur fav characters in the taglines.
Idk how coherent this was, I feel like I kinda just rambled for a bit but I hope I helped even a little bit! I still have one other BFDI AU in working on and writing for so I'm still trying to figure it out.
(I just realized I kinda made a lot of assumptions about the nature of your AU and if it's anything like my second AU then these tips might not be as helpful but y'know what the principles still apply I think?? They should. š)
