Shiro

He really enjoys the symbolism behind New Years

The idea of being able to start fresh and start OVER really appeals to him, so it’s actually a pretty big holiday for him

At a party, he’d probably stay sober actually. He wants to have meaningful conversations with the people close to him, not get trashed. That’s not a good way to go into the next year in his mind.

Would honestly probably host a party since he knows that if he goes to one it’s probably just gonna be a rager and he is NOT about that on this holiday

Always makes resolutions and has the willpower to actually see them through? 

We all aspire to have that resolve

Watches the countdown with his S/O cuddled in his arms, and gives them a deep, meaningful kiss to welcome in the new year~

Keith

Doesn’t really see the point in New Years parties? Or the hype behind it?

He’s not a huge drinker and he really hates being drunk (it clouds his judgement even further leading to 79% more bad choices than usual and yes Pidge DID do the math that is an exact number)

If he goes to a party you can either find him near the food table or in a corner talking to his S/O

Would rather go to a smaller party where he can spend time with people he really cares about, not a big fancy one with a bunch of strangers.

Tbh, his ideal new years is taking his S/O on a motorcycle ride up to a secluded spot where they can watch fireworks and stargaze in peace to welcome  in the New Year~

Would probably miss the countdown to midnight because he wasn’t paying attention and then he sees it’s like 12:04 and is just like “welp shit now we gotta try again everyone RESET”

Lance

Y’ALL ARE GOING OUT FOR NEW YEARS

HE WANTS TO GO TO PARTIES

he wants to be with his S/O~

He is SUCH a social butterfly on this night, hopping from party to party saying hi to as many people as he can, going out on the town and taking in all the sights

He LOVES the energy surrounding New Years! Everyone is so excited and full of hope, it always brings a smile to his face!

He always makes a resolution, but rarely keeps it. That’s just who he is okay please don’t judge him we can’t all be Shiro

gets SO excited when it’s finally midnight and gives his S/O and huge kiss and spins them around!!!

START OFF THE NEW YEAR RIGHT WITH EVERYONES FAVORITE BLUE BOI

Hunk

Okay I honestly see him being very similar to Shiro?

Like he doesn’t want to rage all night. He wants to gather his friends and play board games and watch the countdown and celebrate with the people he cares about!

He’d make a lot of super tasty appetizers and desserts to snack on throughout the night

Overall, his New Years is p lowkey, but it’s really special to him.

New Years is a chance to improve himself and reflect. It reminds him that his future is always ahead of him, and that there’s always time to change. He cherishes that reminder.

He finds resolutions a little pointless since if he wants to do something or change something he’ll just do it. He doesn’t need specific day to start it!

Gives hi S/O a playful peck when it’s finally midnight, and then cuddles with them all night.

But just be warned that he might fall asleep. That is a possibility. Feel free to wake him up!

Pidge

If she’s going to a party she’s going to go for the food and the food alone and we all know it

Dem’s the facts

Has no trouble staying up late at all since staying up until past midnight is just her natural sleeping cycle so she laugh at people who are struggling

Their suffering is amusing to her >:3c

But watching the ball drop? Overrated. 

She has a better plan.

Her ideal New Years is honestly just her and her S/O watching a movie and timing it so something funny happens just as it strikes midnight

Like watching the lord of the rings so just as it hits midnight Gandalf says “YOU SHALL NOT PASS”

That shit cracks her up and is the main reason she loves new years

doesn’t even bother with a resolution. she knows she will disappoint herself and not care either way. 

Allura

I picture her legit going to Times Square to watch the ball drop

Like no lie

But she’s not just gonna be standing with the crown out in the cold, oh no.

She is getting PRIME VIEWING.

Her and her S/O would find a spot where they could be alone and watch it with a perfect view. Where that is, idk, she may have used some royal status to get there. 

But she got there. 

She really finds it novel that humans put so much stress on changing themselves for the New Years, so she tries making a resolution as well!

It’s mainly just to help more people or spend more time with the people she loves, not really like a specific goal~

She also really likes the idea of a New Years kiss. Starting off the year on the arms of someone you love just seems so romantic and sweet to her, so she’s super excited for it!

Gives her S/O a sweet, romantic kiss when it finally hits Midnight and the ball drops, and then pulls back and cheers with the rest of the crowd~

Lance...

IS SO FOR THIS. He loves any sort of affection, and to have to someone to constantly dote on him makes him feel so safe and so happy! He’ll be sure to return all the affection in full, and he’s constantly hugging his S/O and kissing them~ He also admires how kindly they treat other people, and how empathetic and caring they are. He really looks up to them, and strives to support them as much as they support him.

Hunk...

Cherishes his S/O no matter what, but if they just happened to be super caring and affectionate that’s would DEFINITELY be a plus. Him and his S/O would be that one couple that makes sure the rest of the squad doesn’t die pregaming before the Uber arrives (don’t drink kids). He’s used to kinda being he “mother hen” figure and taking care of everyone so to have someone to help him out with that feels awesome, and to have someone be that person for him as well... it’s the icing on the cake!

Ice skating! Allura x reader

You had always considered Allura to be one of the most graceful people you had ever known. She walked and spoke with a sense of dignity and poise, her every action exuding an effortless sort of elegance that took your breath away. Due to her royal upbringing, this sort of behavior was to be expected, but it never failed to take your breath away with how beautiful she truly was.

Which is why taking her ice-skating was both a surprise for you and hilarious.

She had seemed very excited when you first explained the concept to her. (“So they’re basically bladed shoes? Oh, I love weaponizing clothing!”) The two of you had been very busy as of late, so the break would be appreciated. A nice little date, complete with hand holding and hot chocolate.

You two drove out to a lake near the home where you grew up. It was a private area, unknown to most. A snow had fallen the night before, and a fresh powder still lingered on the branches of the trees. The sky was a light gray, and the area in general seemed to be saturated, only adding to the chill. And then there was Allura, a bit of vibrance in all the chill.

That bit of vibrance only took about about four seconds of sliding on the ice to fall on her ass.

You couldn’t help the shout of laughter that escapes your lips as you went to go help her. You weren’t sure if it was the look on her face or just the shock of seeing her be so clumsy for once, but it had to be one of the funniest things you had ever seen.

“Wha... hey! It’s not polite to laugh,” she scolded as you helped back up. She slid again on the ice, this time falling into you.

You held her close, preventing her from slipping any further. “I know, trust me, but god Allura... your face... oooooh my god...” and against your will, you started laughing again. “That has to be the best thing I’ve ever been able to witness in my whole entire life.”

“Rude... it’s not my fault, it’s slippery!” She protested.

“Yeah, it’s ice. I’m sorry, I really am...” you said, still laughing and therefore not sounding very sorry at all. “Here, I’ll help you out this time. Just hold my hand...”

You grabbed her hand and started to deprecate from her, but she only scooted closer to you. “But... what if I fall again?”

You smiled at her. “Then I’ll be there to catch you. I promise.”

“...and you won’t laugh?”

“I will try my best.”

She playfully swatted at your arm, and you let out a light chuckle. “Here, just stay close to me. It’s hard to explain, you really just have to glide...”

And so the two of you spent the rest of the day teaching and learning (and falling). By the time you had packed up, Allura felt confident enough the cross the whole lake by herself, and you had learned to control your laughter tot he point where she didn’t notice it. At the end of the night, she sat next to you on the pier of the lake, and rested her head on your shoulder.

“Y/N... thank you for helping me today,” she said. “I hate admitting I don’t know what I’m doing, but... well... it was a lot more difficult then I though it’d be.”

You put an arm around her, bringing her even closer. “Of course Allura. And again, I’m sorry I laughed at you. It’s just-“

“I know, the funniest thing you’ve ever seen.”

“God. I wish I had gotten it on video...” you laughed.

She rolled her eyes and snuggled into you a bit closer. After a moment, she spoke:

“As long as it made you happy...”

Winter break headcanons!

Shiro...

Would probably go up to the mountains for winter break. I picture him actually being a pretty good snowboarder, and really enjoying it. The feeling of the wind rushing past your face, being completely free... he likes being on the slopes! If his S/O didn’t know how, he’d definitely spend time teaching them so they could go together.

Keith...

Would probably ALSO go to the mountains. Shiro would have to teach him before he can actually go boarding, but after that, he LOVES it. You just get to go zoom and be really appreciates that. Will pick up on it really quick and listen to music while boarding, the rest of the world melting away into the snow. He’d be really really bad at getting off of ski lifts though, and he’d fall almost every time.

Lance...

After 3 days of messing with the cold he is DONE. NO MORE. He wants HEAT. He’d definitely try to go somewhere warm for winter break, being that cold really isn’t his fun. Plus he thinks it’s funny how he can spend winter break at the beach.

Hunk...

Will do more of a staycation then anything else. Him and his S/O will just relax at home for a couple days, watching cheesy movies and cuddling, and mainly just enjoying each other’s company without having to worry about other obligations.

Pidge...

Wants to chill OUT during winter break. If she goes anywhere, she wants it to be low key. She doesn’t want to stress about cramming a bunch of stuff into a 2 week break, though she will still stress when the end starts creeping in. Will have netflix marathons with her S/O and fight them in smash bros all break.

Allura...

IS GOING ON A ROAD TRIP WITH HER S/O. She wants to take full advantage of the break and see all the earth sights she can! She doesn’t care about the cold, she loves winter fashion anyway. Her and her S/O will rock coats and scarves and boots and see everything they can squeeze in to a two week period~

Day 4- Mistletoe headcanons!

Formats different due to me being on mobile (I’ve been at six flags all day 😅) here’s how the paladins would react to mistletoe, be sure to check out @futurepurplepaladin for what she wrote today!

Shiro...

would be very gentlemanly underneath the mistletoe, only participating in it if the other person was alright as well. Otherwise, don’t even think about it. If he gets caught with someone other than his S/O, he’ll give a friendly peck on the cheek. With his S/O, it’s a slow, meaningful kiss.

Keith...

Would not be too happy caught under the mistletoe. He’s not one for PDA under most circumstances, so the fact that he might be pressured to kiss a STRANGER? Nuh Uh. With his S/O however, he will give them a shy kiss. The more passionate stuff is for no one is watching~

Lance...

IS ALL ABOUT MISTLETOE. He’ll dangle it over his S/O all night. He is a firm believer in the rules of mistletoe so if he’s caught he’ll kiss. That led to a very awkward encounter between him and Keith at a holiday party this one time (but we don’t talk about that...)

Hunk...

Thinks mistletoe is cute! He’d never do it with a stranger unless it was just like a peck on the cheek, but will totally smooch his friends/family/S/O! Won’t go out of his way for it, but he is conscious of it, so he won’t get caught in an awkward situation.

Pidge...

Will walk right past the mistletoe. She thinks it’s a silly, age old practice that she’s really just not about. Unless her partner walking underneath it pulls her in she won’t notice and she WONT participate. However, if her S/O is super exited about it, she’ll begrudgingly participate.

Allura....

Is quite curious about mistletoe! There was nothing like that on Altea, so she always up a giggling, blushing mess when she’s caught underneath. She’s very intrigued about the display of affection between two random people because of a plant, but she’s not against it!

Day 4: Snow Day ⛄️

Lance x Reader

Word Count: 500+

Warnings: Fluff

I feel like I write for Lance WAYYYYY too much. Oh well. I just love the boy!

“Guys its too cold!” you yelled shivering as you made your way outside the castle.

It was “Christmas” Night on Earth days, but you guys were in space.

So, you, Pidge, Hunk, and Lance begged Allura to stay on a neighbouring planet that was very snowy- it felt like Christmas. Almost.

The problem was the planet’s temperature was below 30 degrees. It wasn’t very comfortable to say the least.

You wrapped yourself closer in your old jacket, shivering as you watched your breath freeze in the air.

“Guys?” you asked again. The sky was dark, a deep purple color. There were two moons in the sky, both a pale orange color. The trees around you were a bright white, a stark difference against the sky. The snow growed luminous colors, as if the floor was a dance floor that would be revealed if the snow was sweeped away.

There was mounds of snow everywhere.

“That wasnt there before,” you thought confused, wondering if maybe it snowed again.

“Oh no.” you muttered, realization hitting you.

A battle cry rang out, and a pummel of snow balls hit you.

You screamed, the round balls stinging your already cold skin.

“You brats!” you screamed in surprise as you heard laughing behind a mound. Lance and Pidge. Of course.

“Sorry y/n!” you heard a voice ring out apologetically, and Hunk’s head popping out from behind the mound.

You laughed evilly, as you shook your head, war glinting in your eyes.

“Uh-oh,” Hunk yelled, “Abort! Abort!”

Lance’s head emerged from the top, a smile still on his lips, until he saw your face.

A “oh crap” look replaced his triumph expression.

“Um….. time to go!” Pidge cried.

“No you dont!” you yelled laughing as you formed a huge snow ball in your hands.

You yelled as you ran at the trio, the sounds of laughter and screams filled the chilly air.

Shiro sighed as he smirked down at the four of you.

“You four are two much,” he laughed, shaking his head.

“Its c-c-c-cold!” Lance shivered, “c-c-can we just come in without y-y-you laughing at us!”

You guys did look funny.

The snow had a wierd property to it, where when it made contact it glowed like a glowstick against your skin.

You guys basically look like you went to a crazy rave that turned into a paintball fight.

In sub-zero weather.

“Fine,” he chuckled, “just clean yourselves up before the princess yells at you.”

Pidge saluted Shiro jokingly.

You giggled. “Will do, Space Padre!”

Shiro sighed exasperatedly. “Another nickname?”

“Of course!” Lance laughed, “who else would be our Space Daddy?”

All four of you laughed loudly, watching Shiro’s face contort into disgust.

You ran out of the room, your belly hurting from the amount of laughing you all were doing.

Heat swarmed your body, your limbs thawing out with a tingling sensation.

You all sighed in deeply- Warmth.

Hunk exhaled, his eyes closed in content.

“Well, Im gonna have to go,” he sighed with a smile, “I still have cookies to make.”

“Cookies?!” Pidge said excitedly, “can I come?”

Hunk nodded, and both ran out.

You looked at Lance, grateful the two had left.

You instinctively grabbed him, burrowing your face into his neck.

“Whatcha doin’ there?” he chuckled, a tint rising to your cheecks.

“Im cold,” you mumbled, snuggling into his cool skin.

Lance wrapped his hands around your waist.

“Well I am too,ya know” he smiled, looking down at you.

“True, but….” you looked up, your hand squirming out his hug to point at the ceiling.

Someone had placed a mistletoe on the wall, the pieces crudely put together, barely looking like it.

“Oh,” he chuckled nervously, his neck and face growing hotter.

You smirked, watching him get nervous.

For once, it felt kinda good not to be the one that blushed.

“You kinda owe me for throwing snowballs at me,” you smiled as your fingers drew shapes against the exposed skin above Lance’s collarbone.

The poor boy looked lost for words, not knowing what to do. He usually was the one to make “moves”, not you.

He opened and closed his mouth slightly, trying to find something, anything, to say, but couldn’t.

You chuckled as you grabbed the front of Lance’s sweater to kiss him under the mistletoe.

Snow day headcanons!

Day four of the writing week @futurepurplepaladin and I are doing. Hope you enjoy!

Shiro

He likes snow days~

Everything just slows down and is calm. 

It’s one of the only days he’ll allow himself to sleep in. It’s too cold to imagine getting up...

After that, he’ll warm up with a cup of coffee and probably just sit with a blanket and watch TV for a while. He has no plans to go out like. At. All.

Seriously. If something is going on, he’ll cancel it. For him, snow days are an excuse to get nothing done without feeling guilty, and he cherishes that more than he lets on.

Please... just let him rest...

His whole day consists of him either sleeping or reading or binge watching and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

Keith

He honestly doesn’t like... care?

He’s not gonna let the weather interfere with what he has to do.

Although snow does kinda fascinate him. He never saw it growing up, so the coldness of it always surprises him.

If he had the time, he’d actually take a walk in the snow, enjoying the stillness it brings. Even though it’s freezing, he really enjoys the briskness of it all. It’s refreshing!

Other than that, it’s just a normal day for him. He doesn’t appreciate the obstacle a snow day provides, but he does love the quiet~

Lance

All about snow days

The second he sees snow he’s running out and building a snowman no you can NOT stop him but you can help

Will spend the whole day outside if he had the choice

Tries to sled off the roof of the house

Might get injured from sledding off the roof of the house

He always wins snowball fights. He got that sharpshooter aim~

Plus he has the art of making snowballs down to a science

You know that one scene in Elf where Buddy is in a snowball fight? Yeah that’s him

Hunk

Something about the weather outside being cold puts him in the mood to make something warm inside!

Will turn on some music and get to baking~ bread, cookies, brownies... the works!

Will DEFINITELY make hot cocoa to enjoy with his baked goods.

Sits in front of the fire cuddled up with blankets when all of that is done.

Not one to go out on snow days unless he really has to.

He’s not a fan of the cold.

Pidge

ngl unless someone opens up the curtains in her room she won’t notice that it’s even snowing.

Time doesn’t exist when you sit in a room with no light except for the dim glow of a computer screen (someone help her please)

Once she notices that it’s snowing, she’ll go out for a bit. Being in the snow brings back fond memories for her of playing with her brother...

Won’t go out without bundling up a LOT, she gets cold super easily.

Loves the peace it brings, and it helps her slow down and think.

Allura

She really likes snow days!

Will go on long walks in the snow, all bundled up~

Going out on a snowy night to look at the stars, something about it for her is just so sentimental. She doesn’t know why, but it calms her.

Loves breathing out and seeing her breath. 

She cherishes the feeling on the cold air on her face, the wind whipping her hair around. It makes her feel real, feel alive. 

Finishes the night by falling asleep near the fireplace, book in hand and cuddled under a huge blanket.

This girl LOVES her video games

Allura just starting figuring out what Christmas is, but she loves it already

You could get her socks and shed flip out

Anything “Earth” or “Altean” related would be good for her

Like maybe a bunch of Earth food she seems to like

Or clothes

If you asked Coran what ALtean things you could maybe make for Allura, he becomes a DIY master

He makes you sit with him for a whole day as he explained how to make Altean trinkets and different traditions

Its the thought that counts at that point

Lotor x reader- presents.

This is for day... 3? Pretty sure this is day 3 of this little writing week that @futurepurplepaladin are doing for celebration! I decided to give our favorite purple boy some much needed love (he deserved better you guys) for Christmas, so here it is! Hope you enjoy~

Christmas was a foreign concept to Lotor. The whole idea of being together with his loved ones, celebrating together, giving and receiving gifts... you had to explain it to him several times, and even then, he spent a copious amount of time on research.

“So to clarify once more,” he said. “You celebrate the birth of your major religious figure through... excessive commercialism?”

“Excessive... what?” You laughed. “No Lotor! Sure, you give presents and all that, but Christmas is about more than that. It’s about being , ya know... together! It’s about spending time with family and friends and enjoying each other.”

“But the industry around it suggests otherwise...” he murmured. You playfully swatted at his arm, and he let out a laugh. “Alright, alright! It’s about family,” he conceded. For a moment, he reflected. “It’s funny... before meeting you, this holiday would have meant nothing to me.”

You felt you face grow warm at his comment. “It’ll be fantastic. Trust me. The best Christmas ever!”

Your excitement only became more obvious as the holiday grew closer. You and Lotor participated in many traditions that both confused and amused him, such as decorating a dead tree with lights and ornaments, constructing houses out of edible materials, and watching many cheesy movies. However, all was not merry and bright. Throughout all the movies, the theme of giving gifts was present.

And Lotor had no idea what to get you.

Was it customary to ask? He didn’t know. What if you wanted to be surprised? Even looking up information did him no good, as all the sources provided wildly different views. Some said that necklaces and jewelry were great, others claimed they were overdone. Some claimed that weekend trips and cruises were suitable presents, others said it was bad to wait that long for a gift.

Lotor was determined to make this Christmas perfect for you, as you had been trying to do for him. All of these holiday activities seemed to come as second nature to you. The tree was beautiful, the gingerbread houses were gorgeous, and every movie night was accompanied with hot cocoa and blankets. You had worked so hard to make his first Christmas amazing, and it had been. He cherished all the time he got to spend with you, especially with it being something you loved so much. He needed to repay you. But how?

The first thing he did was buy a necklace, containing a iridescent jewel from a far off planet. It shimmered with many colors underneath different lights, and hung in a chain made from pure platinum. But he wasn’t sure if it wouldn’t be enough.

The next thing he purchased was a trip for the two of you, a tour that would go all across Europe, complete with a cruise. Every major city would be visited, as well as many smaller cities that were often overlooked. He had always heard you speak of how you wished to travel abroad within ghost own world (not in space, you two had done plenty of that) and this would finally help those dreams be realized. But in his heart, he felt as though that wasn’t good enough for you. Nothing was good enough for you.

The final present was really a gift for the both of you, picked out by him with excessive care. Throughout the season, you had proved that nothing mattered more to you than your family relationships, especially the one you had with him. Why not try to expand it?

Christmas morning finally came. You rolled over in your bed and offered Lotor a sleepy kiss. “Merry Christmas love,” you murmured.

He smiled into the kiss. “And to you as well,” he said, pulling you in closer. You two stay like that for a moment before you sat up and stretched.

You giggled at his attempts to pull you closer once more. “Lotor, come on! We have to go open presents,” you said, pulling him out of bed with you.

He sat up in bed and rubbed his eyes. “Right, presents. Darling, what time is it?” Lotor asked.

“Christmas time! Now here, open it!” You said, thrusting a nearly wrapped gift into his hand. He blinked.

“Oh.”

“What is it?”

“I...” He started. “I forgot that we wrap have to wrap them. Yours... well, it isn’t really... wrappable?”

“That’s okay! Here, just open yours!” “....it’s so pretty. I don’t want to ruin it.”

“Lotor!” You laughed. You made a tear in the corner of the paper, and saw him wince. “Here, I got it started for you. It’s now ruined. Now ruin it some more!”

Finally, he gave in, tearing open the gift, until a thick book lay in his lap. Curiously, he opened up the cover, and gasped at what he saw.

“Surprise! It’s a scrapbook!” You cheered.

And what a scrapbook it was. Filled to the brim with colorful paper, quotes, and so, so, many pictures of the two of you. Not only from Christmas either! There were pictures from when you first met, to when you and him had gone stargazing on a distant moon, and to when you two had taken that trip to Disney land as well (now THAT was an experience).

“This is... this is us,” he said, tracing his fingers over all the photos. “How long did this take?”

“A couple months,” you admitted. “I... I wanted to preserve all the memories I’ve been making with you. They’ve all been... well, fantastic.” You smiled and grabbed his hand. “Do you like it?”

“It’s perfect darling,” he said. “I... thank you. This is beautiful.”

“Well you’re welcome! I only hope your first Christmas was a good one!” You chimed. But still, his face was troubled. “...is everything alright?”

He looked up, almost surprised. “What? Oh, well yes... it’s just...” he sighed. “I’m not sure if what I got you will be enough.”

You smiled at him. “Whatever it is, I’m going to love it. After all, it came from you!”

That seemed to encourage him a bit. He nodded, and stood up. “Alright. Wait here, and close your eyes,” he said.

You obeyed, and heard him leave the room. It was a couple minutes before you heard him reenter. “Now, hold out your hands...”

And as you listens to him, you felt something small and fluffy on your fingers. Immediately, you opened up your eyes, and gasped. In your hands was the tiniest kitten you had ever seen, with soft black fur and shining blue eyes. Around it’s neck was a beautiful necklace, with tickets to a plane attached.

“Oh... Lotor! It’s so... oh my gosh...” you said. You couldn’t stop the tears from welling up in your eyes as the tiny creature mewed in your hands. “It’s perfect... she’s so cute... oh my gosh, thank you...”

“I’m glad you like her,” he said, sitting next to you. “I was thinking for the name... what about Holly? It’d be after the holiday you so adore.”

“Sounds perfect. Everything... everything is perfect,” you said.

He leaned over to kiss your cheek. “But you know...

The best present of all would have to be you, my love.”

Lance x reader- Holiday party

This is for day 2 of the vld Christmas week @futurepurplepaladin are doing, go check out her blog to see what she did for this day!

You had never actually met Lance’s family, but boy have you heard stories. You heard the story about the time Lance crashed the drone into the window during his moms book club. You heard the story about the marshmallow gun fight that ended up with many clothes being stained with the gooey sweet. You heard the story about the Disneyland trip that was “never to be spoken of again” that was spoken of quite a bit. With all those stories, it could definitely feel like you’ve met them. But have you ever looked them in the eyes, shook their hands, and told them “nice to meet you, I’m dating your son” ? Not yet.

And Lance was eager to change that.

“Lance, I’m really not sure about this,” you said on the drive up.

“Well were already halfway there. Why? Do you not want to meet my family?” He asked, looking at you in the passenger’s seat.

“No, it’s not that! Not at all. It’s just...” you sighed. “I’m not sure. I think I’m just nervous. What if I mess up? What if I say something stupid? What if they hate me?”

Lance couldn’t help but let out a laugh. “Babe, there’s literally no way they could hate you. You’re perfect! Plus, they know how much I love you, trust me, I’ve told them,” he said. “You have nothing to worry about.”

A small smile graced your face. “Yeah... I guess.”

“Okay! Like I said, it’ll be fine. I mean, it’s just a holiday party. What can go wrong?”

Answered: more than you’d think.

To start off, due to a traffic jam, you guys were late. Like, 2 hours late. When you finally got there, it was 5:00.

“Lance!” His mom said when you finally knocked on the door. “We thought you weren’t showing. Hurry up and get in, it’s freezing out! Dinners already on the table. I would’ve appreciated the help, but...”

Lance gave his mom a hug. “Sorry, I really am, traffic was awful. Oh! And I’d like you to meet-“

She turned her head towards you as he spoke, and her face instantly lit up. “Oh, this must be y/n! Goodness, look at you, so beautiful!” She cooed, brushing your hair back behind your ears.

“It’s really nice to meet you,” you started. “Sorry we couldn’t get here earlier to help, traffic-“

“Oh it’s fine! Here, come in, we saved you both plates,” she said, stepping back for my he door so you two could enter.

“Thank you-“ so began, but we’re cut off by the sight. In front of you had to be almost a half dozen tables, all loaded with food and people, nothing like the small, private Christmas dinners you had back home.

Your shock wasn’t unnoticed by Lance. “You okay?” He asked, squeezing your hand.

“Yeah! Yeah, I’m fine, it’s just...” you let out a light laugh. “I almost forgot how big your family was.”

“Oh, well it’s not all blood-related family. Our neighbors are over there, that’s dads friends from high school over at that table, almost everyone brought a plus one...” he said, pointing at people as they were listed. “But in the end, they’re all family.”

“Of course,” you said, sitting down at the table, to be greeted immediately by a chorus of questions.

“Woah, are you Y/N?”

“Are you the one dating my uncle?”

“You’re so pretty! Are you really dating Lance?”

You couldn’t help but laugh at that last one. Lances indignation was too much for you. “Yes, I’m the one dating Lance. Nice to meet you, I’m Y/N.”

Names and faces were introduced in a blur, and you did your best to remember each one. The conversation over dinner was loud and endless and manic, everyone gleefully talking over each other. At one pint in the dinner, a tall woman about your age walked over to you. Before you could even stick out your hand and greet her, she spoke.

“So, your Lances new S/O?” She asked, her arms folded in front of her. With her stance and the sour look on her face, she was a bit intimidating.

You swallowed, and did your best to smile. “Yes, I’m Y/N, it’s nice to meet you!” You said.

A smirk crossed her face. “Yeah, likewise. I gotta day, his standards...”

“Do we have a problem Shelly?” Lance asked from next to you.

She rolled her eyes. “Nope, not at all,” she said, walk-in away and leaving you rather confused.

“Who... was that?” You asked after she had left.

“She’s a childhood.... friend, I guess? We’re neighbors. Used to be neighbors. Don’t worry about her, she can just be a bit nasty at times.”

“O...Kay....” you said, doing your best to out the incident behind you.

Dinner was over and done with, and the night was still young. As soon as they were dismissed, the kids scattered off in all different directions, many coming straight towards their uncle Lance. You watched from a small distance, his face lighting up as he talked to his younger family members, ruffling their hair and tickling their stomachs. You turned your head to see Lances mom in the kitchen cleaning. Immediately, you went to join her.

“Can’t you let you clean all this by yourself!” You chimed, rolling up your sleeves.

“Oh, that’s so sweet of you! Shelly, look, we have another helper!” She said.

You turned your head to see Shelly, looking not very happy at this development. “Sure... great,” she said.

You couldn’t help but wonder “what’s with this girl?”, but a crash from the living room cut you off.

“Kids! Oh dear... I should go out there and check on them. Do you two have this under wraps?” She asked, already heading out of the room.

“Sure thing, Mrs. M,” Shelly said as she walked out. It only took a second for her smile to disappear and for her to turn to you. You gulped as she addresses you directly.

“Look. I don’t know who you are-“

“Lance’s S/O, Y/N, we met earlier,” you said.

She seemed taken aback by your bite, and you couldn’t help but feel proud. She looked as though she had swallowed something very sour as she spoke.

“Yeah, I don’t care. Now look. I’ve known Lance for my whole life, his whole life too. Some average looking nobody with no decency isn’t going to change the fact that him and I? We have a bond. I was his first kiss, you know,” she bragged.

It’s as though you had been slapped. Who did this chick think she was? You couldn’t even say anything back to her as you two finished washing the dishes in silence.

Your change in mood wasn’t unnoticed by Lance. He gave you a look as to say “are you okay?”, but you simply smiled and shook your head. His family was talking in a circle, all recounting stories.

“You know, I remember being a kid in this neighborhood,” Shelly said after a while of telling stories. “Do you remember that Lance? How we used to play together all summer? It was so much fun going down to the beach with you, building sandcastles, playing in the waves...”

Lance felt you stiffen beside him, and everything clicked into place. He squeezed your hand as he responded. “Yeah, that was fun. But what was really fun was when Y/N and I went to the beach this summer, wasn’t it, Y/N?” He asked, smiling at you.

You felt your heart swell at his consideration. “Yes, it was. I remember...”

and as you launched into the story of you and Lance going to the beach, you noticed Shelly frown. But more importantly, you noticed the rest of Lances family smiling at you, enjoying the story.

Maybe it wasn’t that bad after all.

Christmas Week- Mall Trip!

Today’s the first day of the Christmas/New Years challenge for @futurepurplepaladin and I! Today, I decided to write some headcanons for what each of our paladins would be like on a mall trip during the christmas season~!

Shiro

Okay so he has a strategy

He KNOWS it’s gonna be crazy

He plans to get in quick, and get out even faster

He’s already made a list of what he’s getting each person from every store. He’s not even shopping, just buying.

He has no time for games.

Like patience yields focus, but DAMN is the woman in front of him with 6 kids trying to make a return on something without a receipt pushing it...

Favorite store has a sale going on? Not on the list, too bad

Food court? Eating is for weaklings.

Little old lady falls down in front of him? Okay he’s picking her up but he’s stopping to ask if she’s okay 

If he brings his S/O with him, he’d be dragging their arm along everywhere he went, encouraging them to keep up

He just can’t stand the crowds (they stress him out, especially since everyone’s so wild trying to get stuff), and doesn’t really feel the commercial appeal of christmas 

He wants to get out of there faster so he can spend more time with his S/O cuddled up in front of the fire at home. 

Keith

Literally the only way he’s going to the mall ever is if his S/O drags him along

He does not want toooo

He’ll do it for his S/O ONLY under the condition that they get pretzels

He likes pretzels

But seriously... the crowds, the mad rush to get stuff, the hectic energy... he’d rather not.

For him, the holidays are more about spending time. He literally could not care less if you got him a gift or something, he just wants to spend time together.

Once hi S/O reasons that “going to the mall WILL be spending time together! Plus we get to see all the decorations, and the tree...” he’ll give in.

He’ll go along without complaining, since he sees no point in ruining it for his S/O, but he will be a little grouchy.

Just... lines. It all seems os pointless.

He will admit though, the decorations are nice.

But Santa creeps him out. No one can reasonably be that happy. 

Lance

Okay so he is the exact opposite of the previous two. This boy LOVES holiday shopping. Take him to the mall anytime, holiday or not.

He does not have a plan at all. He has a few shops he really wants to hit, but he’s mainly browsing. 

No idea about presents going in, he just wants to get whatever feels right.

Will end up spending waaaay more money than planned. But it’s worth it! When it comes to the people he loves, no cost is too high!

He puts a lot of thoughts into his gifts, and he will make sure to get the perfect things for everyone. So he’ll be taking a while...

Also, HE’S GONNA MEET SANTA

HE DOESN’T CARE ABOUT THE LINE

HE WILL MEET SANTA. 

He’s met him ever since he was a kid, and he doesn’t care who thinks he looks silly. He knows it’s silly. That’s why it’s fun.

He asks for a pony.

Hunk

He’s not huge on holiday shopping at a mall, but he’s not against it!

He like how he doesn’t have to run from store to store in a car looking for things for everyone. The convenience of just being able to walk from store to store makes it worth it to him.

Well... almost. Those lines are still pretty killer.

He’s pretty patient though luckily. He understands that everyone needs stuff just like he does.

If there’s one item left of something, he’ll let someone else grab it. If someone seems like they’re in a super big rush and they’re holding a screaming kid or something, he’ll let them in This coupled with the fact that he’s SUPER picky about gifts leads to a veeerrrryyy long trip...

You BET he’s gonna stop by the food court as well. Gotta get those free samples!

Him and his S/O make a full circle, stopping by very place, discussing what was best.... it’s fun!

(Great now I want a cinnabon...)

Pidge

Okay Pidge buys her presents online so she does NOT need to go

But she used to go with her family all the time when she was a kid, so when her S/O says they wanna go together, she’ll sigh, but smile anyway and go along

She likes the holidays. It’s great to spend time together with the people she loves. But god, she does NOT love the mall.. way too many people T_T

She’ll most of her time in gamestop playing the games and kicking everyone’s ass at smash bros

Who knows, she may even find a couple gifts she may have missed out on!

She also really wants to stop by the food court though. Cinnabons, pretzels.... she loves it all. That’s the best part of the mall for her, and honestly the reason while she came.

She doesn’t care about the lines. She doesn’t care about the crowds. She doesn’t care about the manic energy. She IS that manic energy. Just for the love of all that is good..... TAKE HER SHOPPING

SHE LOVES IT

Going from store to store, trying on new outfits, chatting with her S/O about what looks cute, what sales are going on, what they’ve gotten so far.... she lives for it.

And when i say going from store to store, I mean EVERY store. She is leaving no stone unturned. 

You know she’s buying stuff for herself while getting presents for her friends

She can’t help it it’s just so fun!

I can picture her going into build a bear with her S/O and thinking it is the CUTEST THING EVER

and her a her S/O get matching bears with cute little recordings in them and adorable outfits and they’re just so cutehjiadsgfsldf

Can you tell I really love Allura? Because I really love Allura.

Well. It’s been a while.

I’m not gonna lie, I kinda fell out of the show. I didn’t like the way that the canon was going, so I became uninspired. But now that it’s finished, I’d kinda like to make it up to the fandom, so I’m participating in a little “writing week” that @futurepurplepaladin and I have planned! (I’ll reboot the post so you guys know what I mean.) but just because it’s been so long since I’ve actually written, and I’m trying to start fresh, I’m deleting all asks currently in my inbox. I’ll reopen for one day to take flash requests on the 30th (which will include matchups!) and then open them again in January. Thank you guys for being patient and supportive! ALSO: if anybody wants to message me about season 8, FEEL FREE! I love chatting with u guys~

Could you write about the paladins' s/o finding them busy with something and climbing in their lap facing them, resting their head on their shoulder and taking a nap (or with Pidge cuddling them from behind)

Yep~

Shiro

Shiro is always keeping busy. 

When he’s not fighting in a war, he’s training. When he’s not training, he’s solving conflicts within the team. When he’s not solving conflicts within the team and being the ultimate space dad, he’s going over battle plans. 

And if he’s not doing any of that he’s dead and his spirit is trapped in the black lion

He’s VERY busy, and VERY stressed.

This time around, he’s reviewing the reports of a recent battle, trying to calculate the costs and gains and whatnot.

S/O understands that he’s busy, and that he can’t afford to spend much time talking to them, but that doesn’t mean they don’t miss him.

So, instead of distracting him by trying to start up a conversation, they simply plant a small kiss on his cheek, and crawl into his lap.

Shiro is just floored.

Here he is, in his own little world of numbers and casualties, when this beautiful, fantastic S/O of his decides to drop by.

He sighs and mutters a soft ‘hello there’ before continuing on his work. He finds that with their presence so near him, it’s a lot easier.

When he hears them start to snore in his lap, he simply chuckles.

Shiro: “Maybe it’s time for a break…”

Cue cuddling together and taking a nap~

Keith

His reaction is dependent on a couple of things:

1) What exactly is he working on?

2) How tired is he?

3) Are they in public?

If he’s working on something huge, he’ll probably tell his S/O in the nicest way that he can that he needs some space to work on it. Knowing that his S/O is waiting for him will get him to finish it faster though!

If it’s something he deems unimportant though, he’s just going to kinda shut down as he processes the adorableness that his his S/O falling asleep on his lap.

If he’s really tired (like if he’s been working on it forever) he’ll give in to the comfort that is his S/O being so near and warm, and fall asleep with them. He likes naps more than he lets on, especially with his S/O.

If it’s in public, it’s a no go entirely. If there are other people in the room with him, he doesn’t like it. He’s not huge on PDA, since he doesn’t like the idea of everyone staring at him.

But if it’s just the two of them, he’s ALL for it~

ngl i always imagine his S/O coming in while he’s doing push ups and just falling asleep on his back and he’s just like “….?”

In any scenario, he’s flustered and blushing like an idiot. How can anyone be so cute?

Lance

Lance’s desire to prove himself sometimes causes himn to take on way more work than he can handle.

That’s… not a good thing…

so sometimes he gets like really busy, and can tend to overexert his energy

HOWEVER

if his S/O crawls into his lap and falls a s l e e p

he’s done

this boy will stop WHATEVER he is doing and totally freak out over how cute his S/O is being

If anyone starts making any noise, he’ll give them a death stare. He almost shot Keith because he dropped a cup and he felt his S.O stir.

He had to convey to Hunk without using any words (which was very difficult) to GO GET THE CAMERA AND TAKE A PICTURE

He’s savoring this while he can.

He’ll softly sing to his S/O to ensure they stay comfortable and asleep~

Hunk

There’s is only one possible outcome to this scenario with Hunk:

He’s seems cool and collected when his S/O first climbs on top of him

and then they fall asleep.

He picks them up

puts them into bed (with a ton of pillows and blankets ofc)

and freaks the FUCK OUT

HOW CUTE WAS THAT

HE’S ABSOLUTELY DYING

He is trying, so, SO hard to not make any noise as he nearly cries from the cuteness that was that

He compares to having a tiny puppy fall asleep on you, only 1000x cuter, which he didn’t even think would be possible, because tiny animals falling asleep on you are adorable. 

After he calms down a little bit. he crawls into bed with his S/O and naps with them. Work be damned, his S/O is more important!

Pidge

If it weren’t for her S/O, she’d never stop working.

But when she spends too much time working on a new program/mechanism, her S/O knows exactly how to get her to stop.

They approach her from behind and wrap their arms around her, resting their head on her shoulder, and just lay there.

The first time it happened, Pidge just shut d o w n.

It was so unexpected, but really nice at the same time?

She gets extremely flustered when shown physical affection, so she turning cherry red while trying to work, but her mind is in five other places with her S/O so close to her.

In the end, she always gives in, and takes a break. She just can’t handle that much stuff going on at once!

If her S/O were to fall asleep as well, she wouldn’t notice until she tried to get up and felt their weight on her.

An she wouldn’t want to disturb her S/O by getting up, oh no. Maybe she could use some rest as well///

Shiro comes in later to see the pair fast asleep, the computer screen shining on Pidge’s face, filled with forgotten work.

He smiles, wraps a blanket around the pair, and leaves them be.
