I know I've been talking about the fandom way too much, but genuinely it's stuff like this that makes it exhausting being black. A show made and voiced by people who've said disgustingly racist things in the past can be held to such a high acclaim and supported by people I looked up to even after all this stuff has been aired out, but heavens forbid a black woman *checks notes* not like cats?

Before somebody comes into the notes saying "erm, it's just a show, focus on real issues!" Tiny steps like this are what contributes to our current political climate. Media and fandom spaces like Arcane, Hazbin, and TADC normalize this type of behavior. Most racist people, especially queer racist people, don't think that they're racist. Their racism mainly shows in their prioritization of queerness over racism and other forms of bigotry. For example, people using Gooseworx's transness to defend her racist actions. Pushing the bar of "what's acceptable to be upset about" all the way to physical violence only makes it so that it's far easier to get to that point.

Also mildly off topic: while I don't view The Owl House and it's fandom anywhere near as bad the aforementioned shows, I still am critical of how black characters (Gus especially) are sidelined far more than their white counterparts in the series. Even non-explicit racism, like the "undateable" black character, or how often black characters in shows aren't allowed to be fleshed out nearly to the same degree as other characters, contributes to racism as a whole.

I also think that the strength gap is at least partially manufactured women would in fact be stronger overall if little girls were encouraged to do physically taxing games and activities and eat their fill while they’re growing vs having to constantly diet and be sedentary indoors (or god forbid do intense cardio while under-eating). The amount of adult women honestly afraid to lift weights bc they think they’ll get bulky as though bulking isn’t a full time job that athletes have to spend all their time on and anyone on earth gets shredded from just using their adult muscles for their intended purpose, girl your bone density 🥀

The overwhelmingly positive reactions to my post about transfem periods from tme people has given me a lot of hope. I was not expecting this at all, and is the complete opposite of how my experience has been up until now.

I was not exaggerating when I said that I've never had a tme person react positively towords me talking about it before. Online or offline.
