King Arlan Durrandon of the Stormlands is more ambitious than he is clever. His father’s sudden passing came as a shock to the Stormlands. Arlan is in no way prepared to fill his father’s throne, though he is determined to make a name for himself. Yet, to do so will likely upset the peace and prosperity of the kingdom. He is resolved to take the Riverlands back from the Ironborn and King Harren’s vulnerability is part of the perfect storm.
Civil war has finally burned down to embers but discontent still festers deep within the heart of the Mountains and the Vale. King Oswell Arryn, gone mad with rage, cruelty, and greed, had perhaps decided that if his line couldn’t have the Vale, then no one could. The heirless king’s bloody reign has ended, at the hands of his own kin. Marcyn Arryn, the newly crowned king, begins his own reign in the crimson shadow of his uncle’s tyranny. King Marcyn has inflicted much disarray unto the delicate hierarchy of the kingdom. Bestowing great honors and lands upon his supporters, revolutionaries who fought alongside him in his conquest. He has also made many enemies of the houses stripped of power, wealth, and influence. Some are unperturbed, finding footing in their new circumstances lest they face the wrath of their king once more, whilst others burn with indignation at being ruled by a man of royal blood raised as a commoner.
King Harren Hoare, once an accomplished conqueror, has been rendered powerless. A man whose philosophies rested upon the iron price is no longer capable of ruling with his once iron fist. An attempt was made on Harren’s life with widow’s blood, a slow-acting substance that shuts down the bladder and bowels until the person dies from the body’s own poisons. Whether or not it was a widow’s revenge or an attack from an enemy within his household is unknown. However, with the king incapacitated his heir, Harmund Hoare, rules in his stead. While Harmund ought to be building his armies, he continues to build his father’s great fortress, Harrenhal, a dark and ominous edifice towering into the clouds at the expense of the Riverlands, and to the ire of its oppressed lords. A rebellion is brewing, and not just among the Riverlanders, but within the Hoare household.
Iron Isles | Riverlands | The Vale | The Rock | The Reach | The North | Stormlands | Dorne Iron Islands and the Riverlands Royal Family: House Hoare of Orkmont and Harrenhal Regent: Contested (Harmund Hoare v Hadrian Hoare) Recent Events: Poisoning of King Harren, leaving a rising contest for succession between his sons. The Sacking of Blackwater Keep, and various noble families taken as hostage. The Vale Royal Family: House Arryn of the Eyrie Regent: Marcyn Arryn Recent Events: Marcyn Arryn usurps his uncle, the mad King Oswell, but the civil war is far from over. Noble families are stripped of lands and titles that are then granted to commoners who fought in Marcyn’s army. The Rock Royal Family: House Lannister of Casterly Rock Regent: Tymond Lannister Recent Events: Sacking of Lannister ships by the Ironborn, the King’s niece taken as the Kraken’s salt wife. Various Westerland houses are also affected by the Sacking of Blackwater Keep, with rising anger at the king’s inaction. The Reach Royal Family: House Gardener of Highgarden Regent: Garse Gardener Recent Events: Ironborn assault, and the capture and occupation of the Shield Islands. Prince Garion’s betrothed is given to Hadrian Hoare as his new queen in an act of fealty. The Stormlands Royal Family: House Durrandon of Storm’s End Regent: Arlan Durrandon Recent Events: Arlan Durrandon succeeds his father as king, inexperienced and bloodthirsty in his quest to wrench the Riverlands back from the Hoares, especially now that Black Harren seems out of the way and there is no clear successor. The North Royal Family: House Stark of Winterfell Regent: Rickard Stark Recent Events: The Red Wail, a virulent epidemic, culls the population, whilst wildling attacks from beyond the wall escalate. Princess Alysanne is missing, and feared dead, but is in fact a hostage of the Ironborn. Dorne Royal Family: House Martell of Sunspear Regent: Meria Nymos Martell Recent Events: Sellsword occupation of Dornish waters, causing a worsening shortage of food and resources, and a trade crisis.

Before Aegon I Targaryen conquered Westeros, the land was divided among seven kingdoms each ruled by their own monarch. Each kingdom faces its own trials, tribulations, and triumphs as the world is much different in the year 25 BC. The world has seen many wars, long scalding summers, and brutal winters.
