New Fic: Addition to the Family
Title: Addition to the Family Author: Michelle Email: michelle [at] waking-vision.com Summary: Viggo isn’t a cat person. At least that’s what he tells himself. Series: Let’s call this the Library-AU for now until I think of a better name. (Also, no library makes an appearance in this fic.) Pairing: Viggo/Orlando Genre: slash, fluff, humour Warnings: AU, brief mention of epilepsy Rating: general audiences Disclaimer: Viggo and Orlando belong to themselves. The cats are actually mine and they’re driving me to distraction. Author’s Note: Written for the @vo-bday-bash, using the prompts pet and fluff. I’ll not tell you that everything in here is realistic, but it is based on real life events insofar as I managed to acquire three little kittens pretty much by chance. Now, I’m a cat person through and through, but I have to agree with Viggo: I’m under no illusions – should I ever croak, they’ll not hesitate to eat me and that’s okay. They’re cats. Anyway, enjoy!

Pairing: Viggo/Orlando Genre: slash, h/c Warnings: AU, medical condition, epilepsy Rating: Teen Disclaimer: I certainly do not know what’s going on in their lives. And as is often the case with my fics: I hope it isn’t this. Author’s Note: Written for the @vo-bday-bash, using the prompt anniversary. This little ficlet is set in a world and setting that I’m developping at the moment, which means there is a lot of backstory to this, but it should be able to stand on its own. I didn’t want to bog this down with endless exposition, which is why there are no further explanations or spoilers apart from the warnings. To keep this as accessible as possible I avoided any and all medical language. If you need/want more context in terms of warnings, please choose the AO3 version, which I tagged more extensively even if none of those medical terms make an actual appearance in the story.

Fic Recs: Halloween
Let's get the @vo-bday-bash going with a few fic recs for the prompt Halloween. I know I love a slightly spooky story, I hope you do to! Feel free to add you own recommendations!
“Everbody’s Business” - Geale It was a dark and stormy night... and Billy had really poor taste in jewellery. That's how it began. This is a *fun* Halloween story, meaning that you can expect some twist to happen, but you won't bite your fingertips bloody because it's so thrilling and scary. It starts out as a pretty straightforward PWP, but don't let that fool you. A fun outing, well-written without taking itself too seriously.
“Destiny’s Hands” - Lostiawen An encounter with the supernatural changes a bitter drama student's life forever in a tale of love beyond death. This is an old time favourite of mine. I mean, who wouldn't go for artist!Viggo haunting a derelict old mansion and falling in love with Orlando. And vice versa. It gets a bit convoluted towards the end to tie in with canon events, but if you just go with the flow you can definitely enjoy the ride. This is told in Orlando's POV and I especially love is witty and cynical tone in the beginning and how it changes throughout the story. In my mind I always call this the Buffy-voice.
Dark Dreams - Lily Eyes Famous painter Viggo Mortensen buys an old cottage in the countryside. Charming and cozy, it does not seem at all like a place to harbour a dark secret. But appearances can be deceiving. What a beautifully gothic tale! This has all the ingredients you would look for in a tale of gothic horror from England. You have the quaint little cottage that turns out to not be quaint at all. You have the ghosts and the secrets of the past. You have someone (and by someone I mean Viggo) losing a lot of sleep, because nothing is as it seems. And you have ghost!Orlando. Yes, he's dead. But don't worry, everything will work out in the end. Read this for the amazing prose, for the brilliantly plotted story and for the general gothic vibes. If you read just one story from this list, read this one, because it has such a classic gothic feel to it.
Bad Things - JenlynnVampires live among us. Getting involved with one of them is probably not the brightest thing SAC Viggo Mortensen ever did. If it's Halloween you need vampires. And in this story you will get vampires! This is heavily inspired by "True Blood" (as evidenced by the title). It has Viggo as a FBI agent and Orlando as the sexy as hell vampire. Add to that some Southern charm and you've got yourself a great vampire story. (And in the little sequel you will even get treated to a Lestat-cameo!)
Love Gone to Hell - shegollum No summary provided. What would you do to spare your loved one pain? Apparently you'd sign a deal with a devil. And then stuff happens. Trust the author's note here, it's all going to end will. But until then it's dark and full of hurt and basically no comfort. The things you do for love ... This is wonderfully melodramatic if you are in the mood for such a story.
Something to get you in the mood for halloween, Viggorli-style.

Title: Waylaid Fandom: LotRPS Author: Michelle Email: michelle [at] waking-vision.com Summary: A drive through the night turns into quite an adventure. Pairing: Viggo/Orlando Genre: slash, supernatural Warnings: AU, het (just a tiny bit, bear with me) Rating: NC17 to be safe Disclaimer: I don’t know whether Viggo ever visited North Carolina (probably). But I guess he didn’t fall down the rabbit hole when he was there. Author’s Note: Written for the @vo-bday-bash, choosing the prompts road, forest, AU and first time. This story is all over the place. I took some of my own ideas and mixed them with Gaelic mythology, “The Blair Witch Project”, “Dracula” and “Outlander” (of all things). If you ever wondered what a story including all those elements would read like – here’s your chance. Have fun and Happy Halloween!

Welcome to the Viggorli Prompt Challenge!
Do you still remember the heyday of fandom when you'd scroll through your friendslist on the journaling site of your choice and it was simply full of yummy Viggorli stories? Those days are long past, but even today there are still fans of this ship out there. Some of you have been around since the movies came out. Others are "late" to the party and only discovered the joys of RPS years later. How cool is it that even today new fans find this ship?

After I've been absent from fandom for long years, I've recently re-discovered the fun of talking to like-minded people online. The fun of reading stories. And the fun of writing them! And it seems to be similar for other people, too, who are coming back to fandom with a big hurra.
This challenge is for you. For all of you!
I've spent years organising fic challenges and contests, but actually never for my favourite two men. I'm totally prepared to remedy that fact, which is why I'll give you the Viggorli Birthday Bash!
We've all gotten a bit older *coughs*, so I felt the pressure of the now so very common week-long events is a bit much. I guess we all have to juggle real life, family, jobs and other responsibilities. Let's make this a little more low pressure!
What is the Viggorli Birthday Bash?
The Birthday Bash will be a prompt challenge running from October 20th 2024 (Viggo's birthday) till January 13th 2025 (Orlando's birthday). I'll provide 66 (yes, a whooping sixty-six) prompts from different categories to pick, choose and/or combine to your heart's delight.
The prompts will be revealed on October 20th. You will then have roughly three months to write something for one or several of the prompts.
While this idea came about as a fic challenge, everyone is invited to answer the prompts in whatever way they like, may it be meta, pic spams, fic recs ... you name it, it goes! All this challenge is supposed to do is inspire you and spread the Viggorli love!
