I'm about to say something crazy. What if my crack theory is that Pierrot's parents were human?

Hear me out! We know both of Pierrot's parents are long dead. We know he's quite quick to dismiss Jester's judgment of all humans as unloving, he has this in common with Columbina. It is possible, but I find it a little hard to believe that Pierrot would only be hopeful about humanity because of Columbina and not some personal experience where he's SEEN that side of humanity before.

Neko has said time and time again that the MC is human, and Pierrot wouldn't act at all the same if they were anything else. A monster love interest would need to work to get his attention in contrast to the immediate attachment to a human who shows him care.

I could also bring up the fact that some animals (birds) are more likely to court humans if hand raised. (Even non-parrots! I don't think Pierrot is a bird monster... but it's worth mentioning.)

So... what if? What if he hasn't had the caring gaze of a human on him since he was a kid?

So when it happens again? Bam! Boi is in love.

Like, you walk by him while he's reading and he just... taps his torso to call you over without a word. Once you're close enough he grabs you and has you lay on him belly to belly. He'd probably use you as a book rest and you'd both stay like that for awhile.
