Sans gave a gentle glance as he recalled.

“yeah, i’m alright with it.”

“frisk and i had our first date during an event in the waterfall known as the lantern festival. bit of a thing where the locals would light lanterns and float them to the top of the cavern walls to light the sky as stars. they didn’t have the night sky on the surface, but created one of their own every year to give hope that they would see the real one.”

“frisk was dying for me to go with her all week at that time. it was also the week when i… confessed my feelings to her. now i didn’t go out and do things often. but my schedule was free besides sleeping half the day off, and i really wanted to spend time with her. throughout the night, i pretty much did whatever she wanted to do; she did all the planning for our night out. i’ll never forget the way she smiled that night as we did festivities together.”

“then the time came to light lanterns and float them in the sky. when we did it, we were under a whole pavilion on the outskirts of the city. the view was beautiful, and it just felt magical being there alone with her…”

Aliza gives a sly smile.

“I assume you two kissed that night?”

Sans looks at his daughter gently

“…now that, is a story for another day.”

I'm confused. Is Ruby the real Frisk, or is Ruby like an assistant to Frisk, in a similar sense? Are they just one being? Or did Frisk reincarnate as a butterfly? I don't get how this works...

Ruby is Frisk, the remnants of her soul, and is her consciousness.

She is also Aliza's familiar, a guide that can only be seen by magic-sensitive beings (being monsters and sorcerers (half-human, half-monster hybrids)).

When Frisk gave birth to Aliza, her effort and will to ensure her daughter's survival drained her power, causing her to die after giving birth. However, her soul remains one of pure determination, and even when it was shattered, a large remnant (Ruby) lived on.

Consider Ruby (Frisk) and Aliza's souls connected. If Ruby were to get squished or be injured, it would hurt Aliza. Eventually, Ruby would be regenerated, because the two siphon off each other's power.

How would (before the hunger) Sans react when he gets jealous when someone is flirting with Frisk from the past? How about in the present time, if some scavengers saw a pic of Frisk saying something about her in a way that is eroticized? Would Sans react differently?

1. Sans would get reasonably defensive, but deep down, he would know Frisk wouldn't sway for anyone due to their special soul connection.

2. Sans will probably make things very personal when he starts feeding his family again. Imagine a fate worse than the flesh on your body being peeled off like a kebab until you eventually turn to dust on his shed floor (if he saw).

Probably one of the most messed up deaths in the AU. He isn't relevant to the story at all, but his story has its reasons to explain that nothing can escape the hunger. He and his daughter stored a large amount of supplies and manage to ride out the first year, but sooner or later they ran out, and the hunger consumed his mind and drove him to oblivion

Do you know/remember no!axetale(I think that what it was called)? I have like a core memory where B did a small, what if scenario where during pre!axetale time, the 6 human souls were able to rebel against Flowey's control.... only after Sans had already sent Frisk outside the barrier. So Frisk still goes through the same tragic fate like main Axetale, though the underground never goes through the Hunger. Sans still is bit worse for wear, not only with the physical and mental toll of Frisk's death but at some point he took a nasty fall and then had to use a cane for assistance (B also dubbed the scenario under canetale as well I think). Though it isn't all grim for Sans as with the underground not being turned into a literal hellscape. Frisk/Ruby is able to guide a child Aliza to the underground, where she not only gets to live in a significantly peaceful underground, she gets to be united with her daddy-bones, which brings a bit more hope into Sans life.

All in all, it is definitely a bittersweet scenario. I'm pretty sure B wrote about this scenario on her 2nd/inactive Tumblr blog that is still accessible, but for the life of me I can't find anything, can't find the og post which also included 2 drawings by B, one is just the Sans design and another is a teary eyed embrace with Sans and Aliza+Ruby. So I guess I'm making sure that it is some kinda of madela effect, memories of a moment that never happened kinda thing that I'm spouting about.

I've heard of it when I used the wayback machine on Mercy's deactivated blog, but it was very limited in information. There was fanart of it but i wasn't able to retrieve it from there, looked like it bugged out too. I did see a WIP of fanart in the axetale discord related to the AU however.

How prominent will the Frisk/Sans stuff be in the Axetale reboot?

Would call it more of a continuation rather than a reboot, just different people in charge. It wouldn't be the main focus since Aliza is supposed to be the main character, but it will be a major element. Judging by how the story goes, it won't be until the 7th or 8th chapter where it shows the relationship officially

Hmmm late night sketch dump. Feels like it’s been a while since I’ve posted Axetale stuff. Sorry, lovelies.

I remember there being some Axetale asks @thebananafrappe answered about the possibility of Frisk being to Aliza like what Chara had been to her, and I really liked it.

Frisk is a quiet guide on the surface, the babbling of a brook, the whisper on the wind, or a sunbeam warming her daughter’s face. She’s never able to manifest herself or make her presence known, save for in feverish dreams and Aliza’s darkest moments - when she would urge her to climb the mountain.

After arriving in the Underground, Frisk’s shattered soul begins to gather strength, manifesting in the form of a benign butterfly that follows Aliza. The specter cannot be seen except for in brief glimpses in the periphery, or in soothing Aliza’s fraying mind in her sleep.

Frisk imparts Aliza with her lingering determination and kindness when she needs it most, guiding her and influencing her to find a way to finish the task her mother never could - freeing the monsters.

With the more mercy Aliza shows the monsters, the more strength Frisk’s soul gathers, until she can manifest wholly.

However, if Aliza gives into her fear, into the depravity of this eat-or-be-eaten world, Frisk’s soul will further fracture and fall apart until nothing remains.

No. They were still dating at the time before Alphys died, so they didn’t get the chance to bond their souls together.

Undyne regrets this deeply, not having the chance to marry the woman she loved so deeply.

Hello! Do you know if there is any sort of archive for the old axe tale wiki? So much haunting and beautiful art seems to be totally lost which is such a shame. I’m turning 20 in two days but I remember being 12 and being genuinely spooked by axetale, more so than any actual horror movies I saw back then! I never knew how much people hated it and saw it as miseryporn, yes the characters are monstrous and there is a LOT of gore involved, but the little slither of hope that Aliza brings and the tragedy of it all is just completely overlooked. I can’t find it, but there is art of Asgore seemingly withering away in the throne room just looking completely defeated knowing his kingdom is in ruin, something about a completely safe for work piece being more saddening than the overtly gruesome ones really hits home imo. The Frans part was the only thing I wasn’t a fan of, but at least Frisk was an adult in that AU and there wasn’t any troublesome dynamic in the relationship (as far as I can remember!).

There are multiple, actually. In the axetale discord there is an archive of lost media that Mercy, B, and Azul created from 2019-2023. There are even some works that were never really released publicly (revised concept art of Axefell Aliza and Sans). There is also a new wiki that we have created, I can provide the link as well

Its really the frans that shuts people down and prompts people to call it misery porn, and the fact that people don't realize that Axetale was and still is incomplete. I'll say though, B and the old axetale team spent so much time to make a variant of the ship that even people who don't really like the ship can enjoy. It would be appreciated if some critics that judge the AU by its cover could spend at least fifteen minutes researching the lore, or at least talk to an expert.

Also regarding the relationship dynamic, it basically went like this: Frisk is pretty much ~120 from the thousands of resets that happened. Unlike canon, Frisk is able to remember everything, and in an underground that is exponentially larger than the canon underground (there are 5.5 million monsters estimate), there are way more interactions than canon frisk. In the axetale timeline itself, Sans avoids her for ~6 years after the events of the last timeline (Frisk ended a genocide route early after killing papyrus, and the whole Chara possession works differently than the typical fanon one). Those six years, the way he treats Aliza before he finds out she's his daughter parallels how he treated frisk whenever they briefly interacted. One day, it got so bad that Frisk confronted him, and he lashed out, nearly killing her (him breaking her arm parallels to him breaking Aliza's arm somewhere in Axetale's lore before the Cracked comic. Than from what B left, Sans saw her soul (still unsure what she meant), and realized he almost killed her over something she wasn't to blame for. From an old ask blog it than says she and Sans were just friends for a time until a year later until it grew into something more. Three years past and they marry, and they have Aliza another three years later, and right when Aliza's conception was about to be announced Flowey stabbed Toriel from behind and went on his rampage with everyone off guard. Regarding critics on the AU: There was never any grooming, there was no weird stuff happening between the two. They eventually become soulmates, and from what we've seen, the two will die for each other.
