Sooo... I decided to try my Gouache colors once again, to try and relieve the small artblock I‘m having currently. I‘d say that it turned out quite alright! :>

Day #5 - Long

The theme may not fit the days picture if you only look at it, but it fits a lot more in context. ^^ As this is kinda what I imagine the Alegnus’ home to look like.

The homeland - The kingdom of Dosum

Further and further did the Alegnus travel after the war, all just to find a newer, hopefully more peaceful home. After a long time, they finally found their new home, Dosum. Dosum is a place that lies quite a while away from the humans, a half-island that connects to desert and savannah regions.

The islands multiple habitat-possibilities made it a perfect home, with the aquatic types living in the ocean's water, the more desert and dry climate type Alegnus in the desert and savannah regions, while the rest usually resides within the capital city. Airborne Alegnus are also to be found within the city but more often than not flying above it.

On top a hill in the core of the main city lies the Queens castle. Within it reside not only the Queen, but also most of the important figures of the Alegnus community (like the Queens advisors, or the most influential merchants). They also have a radio tower, which they also modified to not interfere with those working with echolocation. 

Another feature of the city would be the haven, where the infamous cannon ship “relations-ship” is to be found. Besides protecting the kingdom it also serves as a merchant ship and is regularly found to be the subject of amusing rumors.

Day #4 - Underwater

Why draw just mermaids if you can have others too? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So here we have some underwater types!

After the war, the Alegnus traveled as far as they could in hopes of finding a new, peaceful home. After a long time, they finally found a place for themselves. A piece of land filled with ruins, covered with overgrowth. Close enough to a desert for the more desert-adapted Alegnus and next to an ocean for the water-dwellers. And as such, the water-dwelling Alegnus came to call that part of the ocean, which is so close to the others of their kind, home.

While resembling various kinds of sea-creatures, these Alegnus can defy some of the laws their counterparts are bound to. For example, we see an Anglerfish Alegnus. Normally, they reside deep, deep down in the waters, but they can, if they wish to, rise easily to the surface if they do it in a certain way. Besides that, the actual sex of the sea-dwelling Alegnus is, like with some other certain specie of Alegnus (like bird-types for example) not able to be seen, unless you kinda are an expert in their type and studied them (or are one of them).

Day #3 - Poison

Spiiiiiders~ (~*o*)~

Meet Veneni!

During wartimes Veneni served as a spy together with their spiders, though nowadays they work as a barkeep in their very own bar - a daydreaming, happy-go-lucky spider-giant with sharp wits, that is Veneni! Some say that even during the more peaceful times after the war, they keep collecting intel,whetever they do it for themselves or still for the Queen is unclear though. They are also said to know head-guard Chi quite well.

 Spider-Alegnus, along with other types like mice or even flies, were mainly used as spies during the war, as their spider-allies could easily infiltrate the enemies lines, without them knowing whether the spiders were neutral, normal ones, or spy-ders. Another job, though more rarely, was the role of the assassins. Though that role fell solely on the poisonous types.

Day #2 - Divided

For missing the start I’m going to have to shift into overdrive until I’m up-to-date again. ^^’ So I hope that I’ll be able to finish the other two drawings tomorrow ^^ (though it’s practically today already?)

And here we are with the second part of the world-building marathon!

While the war itself was clearly divided into the human and the Alegnus side, their backgrounds and motivations weren’t. Before the war it was really common for humans and Alegnus to be friends with each other and even share a familial bond, whether it be parent-child or sibling. As such fighting against each other was even harder than normally.Actually, neither side really wanted the whole situation at hand to escalate into a war in the first place. 

And so families got divided. Whether because of war casualities, or because they had been one of the Alegnus-Human families. Both sides still feel bitter about the war and sad when they think back to how everything had been before it took place. Some although are more skilled than others at hiding their feelings towards this matter. But those feelings would interfer with the work of a few select groups.

Both the Queen and the Commander will be watching over their subjects, after all.

Day #1 - Swift 

 Hehe, seems like I missed the beginning of inktober. ^^‘ Oh well... Aaanyways, I wanted to use inktober as a way to work on my dear character Chi‘s backstory, so I‘ll be ranting a bit about that under the read more. ^^

 So, Chi belongs to a specie I like to call ‚Alegnus‘. They were created a bit further in the Future (around 2460, approximately). Anyways, they were created in labs by pretty bored scientists that looked at animals and myths and then back at humans and thought ‚Why not combine them?‘ and because of the almighty reasoning of ‚why not?‘ the Alegnus were born(or more like created)! 

They lived with the humans in relative peace for quite some time, but after a while things got a bit tense between those two specie until finally the Alegnus decided to rebel and a war broke out between the two. (More details on everything in between, a bit before and after will come with the other drawings during the month ;>) 

 And with the theme swift we have here a small part of the war. After all, you have to be swift in order to survive on the battlefield. There also is a younger version of Chi in the foreground. She actually used to have shorter hair when she was younger and used to fight with needles before she mained the spear as a guard.

Onfim was a child who lived in Novgorod, Russia, in the 13th century. He left his notes and homework exercises scratched in soft birch bark (beresta) which was preserved in the clay soil of Novgorod. Onfim, who archaeologists believe was six or seven at the time, wrote in Old Novgorodian; besides letters and syllables, he drew battle scenes and drawings of himself, his family, and his teacher.
