It is done!!

After roughly 8 months, the giga mountain is finally done

ill post better screenshots soon, this thing is hard to capture even at 32 render distance (and also didnt feel like waiting for day (i dont sleep in game))

thought itd be cooler if my power plant was a bit more accurate to real life. Its still a work in progress (i especially need to terraform)

also yes we have distant horizons on the server it is goated.

i have big train plans as well but first i need to design more factory buildings and automate more

Hi guys im still alive

I've been playing every videogame ever while chipping away at a massive mountain build, its a bit hard to show with pictures (32 chunks rd isnt enough to show it from one side.)

Info on how im building it below

I've already designed the entire mountain using Worldpainter and Axiom (worldedit on steroids) made a massive schematic of that design using Litematica, however, its so big it causes constant lag spikes while loaded, so i cut it up into 9 sections.

its 636 by 636 blocks in area, although i left out some stuff on the sides to have it blend better with the existing terrain. other than that it reaches world height.

"thats fucking insane!! how can you ever build that in a normal amount of time!" I CANT not normally at least. Im cheating by using litematicas easy place, if you dont know what that is. Imagine you have a blueprint of a build, and when you hold right click, it almost instantly places each of the blocks that are currently in your crosshair correctly. I literally just have to stock up material, walk around, and hold right click.

Although even with that it might take a couple months xd

Its finally done

After like 7 months, my library build on my hardcore world is finally done.

Really difficult to show it off with pictures at 45 fov im ngl. heres some with 90 fov

Almost done!!!

Happy to say the library is almost done, ive got 2 hallways left, and then i just gotta put the cap on :3, new since last update are the hardcore hearts murals, the "10" mural (if you can figure out how its a 10, nerd) ,the lightning strike mural and the top platform with a spiral staircase. This staircase will lead up to a tower on the surface, and will serve as an entrance/exit for the library.

The bridges to the top platform will be reachable through a path that starts at the spot on the left of the pic above.

Shoutout to the complementary shaders with Advanced Colored Lighting set to 16 chunks, makes for really cool screenshots :3

updated to 1.21 and also updated my shaders (complementary). They added advanced colored block lighting support and damn it makes stuff look foggy but DAMN

finally my lava lake looks like lava

library is pretty much just warmer colors

Storage system was lowkey built with colored block lighting in mind, and it is meant to be orange as hell. Free blue light filter!!!

the sad thing about wanting to have your builds be fully walkable is that you sometimes have to build paths that will never be seen more than twice after its done.

Theres a really fancy triangular staircase that i have spent and will spend hours on behind this wall of bookshelves. Its super detailed but like i cant even see it unless i specifically walk through this path... which will never happen?? i can fucking fly?

Id make a video showing the walk from bottom to top but thatd be minutes long and who feels like watching minutes of just a silly deepslate and dark oak library

Big ahh wall, the most tedious staircases ive ever built, and a whole lot more bookshelves.

next up is making this wall not look awfully flat. Theres gonna be balconies with more bookshelves and lounge areas :3

i also decided the pillar that the tree is on doesnt need a big interior, so i just made a cozy little tunnel with some lecterns for significant books from my world :3

Quick library progress update

Funny bookcases are all the way around now, finishing up the middle part next :3 (as you can see, a quarter is done, and the schematic for the other 3 quarters is already in place)

also the mural in the back is supposed to represent the cave i built and the mountains that will be on top of it :3
