Pre canon events. Kinda developing Adam/Shiro.

When Shiro goes off to college/uni, he decides it's time to be his authentic self. Part of that resulting in a gay flag being displayed proudly from one of the windows in the shared accommodation. It gives him a warm feeling whenever he sees it, knowing that other students walk by it too and can recognise it as they go about their lives.

For a while that's all it is, a thing for him to celebrate and help others feel a bit more comfortable.

Then neighbouring flats start to display their own flags. He recognises it as each new one appears until a small grouping has appeared. Calming down after a while.

Now when he looks out he can enjoy the silent solidarity amongst his peers. Every now and then coming back to look around. One fateful morning he notices a shy guy from across the flats trying his best to neatly put up his own flag. Only noticing Shiro watching when he takes a step back to judge his work.

From there Shiro was basically smitten, the shy smile and wave this other boy gave him told him it would be the start of something great.

Honouring Trans Awareness Week this story is going to be T4T :)

Established Adam/Shiro looking back at their relationship. Shiro being a trans man with he/him, Adam being transmasc with they/he. Just in case anyone needed the clarification.

At this point in their marriage, they were both happy with everything. Their relationship had never been stronger and both of their transition goals were now completely checked off.

It had been quite a journey for them, the young teens who barely learnt anything about genders to now being more sure than ever.

Recently Shiro had been helping his partner recover after bottom surgery, knowing from several of their friends how difficult it could be. Plus he owed them one after how difficult he was when recovering from top surgery. They didn't let go of that one for a while, not even extra kisses and dates helped to make up for how much Grumpy Shiro they put up with.

He knew he still loved him though, Adam was always the one to lay out any issues in their relationship as they arose. Figuring if they addressed them sooner then it could stop it from spiralling.

The sense of stability they offered really did help Shiro adjust as their relationship became more of a prominent permanent part of their lives. And really, he needed that a lot back then. Even now it was comforting to have that life line, a partner who he was able to look to for help with anything without judgement. He joked sometimes he was just pretending to be an adult and that Adam was always more of one than him. But they'd just meet him with reassurance and support.

At some point it became a silent promise for Shiro that he'd try his best to give as much reassurance and support back as he could. Right up until their wedding day where it became a spoken vow. His husband tearing up as he fumbled through trying to find the right words for the million and one things he wanted to express all at once.

And everything he couldn't get out that day, he's been slowly working through with him since then.

Developing + Established Adam/Shiro. Childhood sweethearts + Non canon happily married couple. (A heads up that in this one Adam is headcannoned as a trans man.)

Shiro had always known looking back that Adam was the person he was going to marry, even when things felt super uncertain in that early on stage something inside him just told him that Adam was it.

They were so young and innocent then. The biggest issue they had was what clothing to wear on a date and how to get away with dates going past their curfews. He did really like Adam even back then. Personality wise Adam was just incredible to him so of course it made him uncomfortable when he'd begun questioning his sexuality.

In retrospect, it was quite funny. The man he got to marry was the very same kid who made him feel so nervous about having to have an awkward conversation about sexuality and where they go from here. His husband always did find ways to surprise him he supposed.

He could distinctly recall that day they finally had a talk. Both nervous and wanting to get out their news that neither knew how to do it. Eventually settling on both saying it on the count of 3. Never did he expect the overlapping "I think I'm trans." "I think I'm gay."

Of course Adam had frozen up at first when he'd registered what Shiro had just said. But himself? He just laughed, feeling the weight lift from him immediately as he realised that the change he was so scared of happening between them, really didn't need to.

Ever since that day ensuring that Adam knew he was there no matter what with him, he just knew he had to be there for all of Adam's big moments. Choosing his name, buying new clothes, getting a hair cut, talling to a doctor. Each and every goal as it happened seemed to replay one of the incredible smiles he got to see Adam use. His favourite perhaps the day of their wedding as Shiro pulled him in close to whisper how much he loved his gorgeous husband.

Familial Adam&Keith primarily. Also background familial Shiro&Keith and established Adam/Shiro. Adjacent to the story but non canonical.

The bond between Adam and Keith was always bound to be different, after all Shiro was much more the excessively overprotective older sibling type. His relationship with Keith was a lot calmer meaning that sometimes he was the better choice for Keith to go when he needed advice.

They both knew this was the case after the time Keith came out to them both and whilst Adam spoke about how proud he was of him feeling comfortable enough to tell them, Shiro got all teary eyed and spoke about throwing a party.

Down the line this did lead to it becoming somewhat of a joke whenever Keith didn't want to tell Shiro something. Keith's first ever date night meant Adam had to calm down an anxious Shiro and keep him grounded until Keith returned in one piece. So it quickly became a running joke of "Don't tell Shiro."

He wasn't quite sure what had sparked them betting but now in their long running list of things we don't tell Shiro was Keith talking to Shiro about The Birds and The Bees. Them both betting on how poorly Shiro would handle that conversation or whether he'd just give up entirely. Keith adding to the bet that he'd just play dumb.

The day came around and Keith had asked Shiro what his teacher had meant when they brought up "some birds and bees having a talk or something?"

As Shiro realised what that meant he sat there a bit stunned at first wondering if this was his job or if he could just get Adam to have this talk instead. But Keith had came to him so clearly that meant something.

Getting through what everything meant was painful with Shiro trying to figure out if birds were male or female and what it meant for bees who used to be birds or birds who don't feel like they're either or- It was a long spiral before Shiro decided to just scrap using the analogy all together. By the time they did finish the talk Keith wasn't sure who came out of that talk more emotionally drained.

Safe to say the new rule was to not make bets based on their Don't Tell Shiro list ever again.

Established Adam/Shiro, ignoring canonical events.

Adam has always loved cats. Shiro gets it, but he has been avoiding bringing up that he's somewhat allergic to most kinds of them. This inevitably leads to Adam wanting a cat after so long of them living together.

Every logical grown up reason for not getting one is easily disputed by Adam leaving Shiro two options, tell Adam the truth or live with a cat.

Needless to say that having a cat around made Adam even happier. The first while of them learning how to be dads for their cat is admittedly a fun learning curve to go on together, the entire time Shiro is taking things for his allergies in secret to ensure Adam gets to have his dreams.

It works up until Shiro gets ill and cannot go get more tablets. His illness turning from general symptoms to just coughing and sneezing a lot. At first Adam jokes that it's just taking him a long time to recover but it reaches a point where Shiro has to come clean.

Of course after the initial shock and surprise, Adam checks if Shiro wants to keep the cat around, not wanting to hurt his fiance further but the stubborn man insists that by now their cat is part of their small little family and he'll just make do with taking tablets. So now Adam ensures that they're stocked up so his soon to be husband doesn't suffer at the cost of making him happy.

Familial Shiro&Keith and Adam&Keith. Established Adam/Shiro, developing Keith/Lance.

When Keith was little he had a fascination with Halloween. Shiro was more than happy to help with celebrating. So over the years it became their thing, growing bigger and better than just a couple of movies.

Some point down the line Adam starts joining them for their yearly visit to go find the most perfect pumpkins. Shiro joking that when Keith gets a partner they can call it a double date causing his little brother to dramatically roll his eyes and go off ahead of them.

It leaves the two of them to discuss how long this tradition has been going on for and how much Shiro loves to be involved in it

It was the last time they'd gotten to enjoy their tradition before Shiro left for Kerberos and all of their lives quickly got out of hand.

By the time everything is said and done, the three of them had kind of forgotten about the tradition. Most of their time back being forced on simply trying to find some form of normality.

It's only when Lance starts pestering Keith about his Halloween plans around Shiro that they both seem to remember, one look between them and they knew things were back on track. Confirmed even more when Shiro nods and says he'll ask Adam before walking off.

Explaining what just happened to Lance was a painful experience, watching the genuine excitement as he tries to imagine mini Keith surrounded by large pumpkins. But when he finally stops talking Keith allows him to join in on their tradition.

Getting there was simple enough but the second they arrived Lance was pulling him along excited to go check things out, leaving behind the older couple who instead opted to take a leisurely stroll around together.

"He's all grown up now" Shiro comments watching his little brother feign annoyance at Lance pointing everything out.

"You were right about one thing" Adam jokes looking between Shiros reaction and the young paladins, "It's probably going to become a double date tradition now."

This seems to set Shiro off for a whole new reason, realising that they were probably chaperoning his brother's first date.

Developing Keith/Lance. Pre-Kerbersos to S1 setting.

Growing up had always been rough for Keith, the other kids didn't know that much about him at the Garrison and that's how he preferred it. Simply citing his extra time with Shiro as "necessary" and refusing to budge on what that meant for anyone who wasn't involved in him being a 'special case.'

Some of the kids were fine with it, not caring that Keith had that different treatment but the one that had stung from a young age was when Lance had tried to imply that he was cheating by spending time with Shiro outside of classes. It had been made into a giant deal infront of everyone and for a while made him take a couple steps backwards in his progression.

Lance hadn't remembered it, it was just another day to him and Keith had really tried to brush it off. Maybe that's why he acted like he'd never met Lance before. A chance to start fresh without any of his past souring his opinion on him. He was willing to try to let go of it all but Lance just made into a big deal yet again.

Things did seem to get easier the more they spent time together though. Especially moments alone when it was actually Lance and not Actor Lance trying to impress everyone. He liked just Lance, he was much more genuine still a bit of a flirt but at least it felt more real than whatever show he was putting on for women.

Brief nods when passing by each other turned into waves and smiles, the gaps between them standing near each other seemed to decrease and Keith finally began to genuinely move on as he started to come round to Lance, the real Lance.

Established Adam/Shiro, Familial Keith + Adam & Keith + Shiro. We're not touching canon here, Pre-Kerberos setting.

When Shiro brings home Keith the first time Adam gives him the same speech that he did when Shiro asked if they could get a cat. That it would be his responsibility to make sure the pet was fed, looked after and safe. Sure he had adapted it slightly to include the kids name but it was near enough mirrored.

Shiro having grown up an only child didn't realise the pain that was having siblings, so even though Adam could tell that he cared for this kid he really didn't want him to get too attached or have too many hopes on what having a younger brother would be like.

Cue to a few months in and Adam has cracked, Keith is like a younger brother to both of them but funnily enough Keith always listened to him more. Jokingly when in private he tells Shiro it's because he's seen as the top. The pouty face he received did nothing to disprove his point.

In serious situations Keith did seem to recognise that Shiro could do a lot to help him and he expressed genuine gratitude. But it was the small things like "Keith can you please clean your room?" Where Shiro was having losing battles.

Every time Adam was around to witness it he waited until Shiro had finished asking to simply say Keith's name, suddenly whatever task Shiro had been trying to ask about was magically being done.

Other small things like choosing Adam's side in dumb jokes. He hadn't even tried that hard to bond with Keith at first, figuring it was just a Shiro thing and the two of them would figure out an agreement.

But in the small moments where they were alone together he could tell Keith cared about Shiro too. Asking about their relationship, answering questions about his own. A lot of it rather mundane details exchanged but before leaving he'd overheard Keith's mumble about Shiro being lucky to have him.

From there it was easier to start making time for him, even if he couldn't provide as much time and space as Shiro he built up their relationship in other ways. It wasn't dangerous rides outside or sneaking off without the Garrison knowing but it was calm nights doing things near each other, talking about whatever. It was ensuring that everything was truly fine and not just Shiros overarching checking but finding the right ways to get the information he needed without spooking Keith.

Adam/Shiro getting back together, as per usual screw the cannon. Idk when this blog became mainly Adashi ideas tbh, kinda here for it though.

What if Adam had lived. What if he'd been at the back of the room when everyone arrived. Watching over the greetings, having followed every update, asking about Shiro. But when their eyes meet from opposite ends of the room Adam starts to walk away and Shiro is dragged off in another direction.

Throughout plans to save Earth, the rest of Voltron can see the sadness in Shiros eyes when he scanned the room only to not find Adam.

They decide to push things along, dividing up tasks between them to help set up a mini date for the two of them. Figuring out how to make things run smoothly whilst Shiro's off on his surprise date so they have peace.

When it finally happens Shiro's eyes light up, struggling to find the words to say anything because how do you apologise for all your dumb decisions in one condensed speech? Luckily he doesn't have to as Adam moves to hug him.

Eventually they pull apart but Adam takes Shiro's human hand in his own, intertwining their fingers and waiting for the moment of recognition that tells him Shiro knows he kept the ring.

A gentle squeeze from him tells him that he knows, communicates that he's with him. Just like old times. Deciding that it's been enough wasted time Adam leads the way commenting that they have a lot of catching up to do.

Just Adam/Shiro. Goes majorly off canon because screw the canon.

Can you imagine if we'd gotten to know more about Adam. Even if they still had planned to kill him off they could have at least given Adashi the same kind of air time as Allurance. Let him have meant something more, give their relationship proper value.

They could have even used Shiro's whole flashback stuff to showcase moments of them being together. Could have been a lovely way to show the contrast between Shiros bad memories at the start and positive ones at the end.

Shiro goes to pay respect to Adam, holding a bouquet of flowers joking that they were always his favourite and how it meant Shiro had to take more antihistamines. A flashback of one of their first dates where Shiro had learnt about Adam's love of flowers and set off on a mission to go find some the second he'd ensured Adam had gotten home safe. Only to show up at his door in the middle of the night, sneezy and teary eyed because in his rush to impress Adam he never took anything to calm his allergies. Adam had never let him live it down so at it cuts back to the present Shiro assures him that he remembered to take something this time.

Or show us more about Adam being a rock for Shiro. Being there for him as his condition starts to get bad. Sneaking out together to spend any time they could because who knows how long they had together. Shiro one day crying and asking Adam to move on because he doesn't want to put him through that heartbreak. Adam kissing away his tears instead, taking his hands in his own as he promises that he'll be there for Shiro as long as he's willing to give them a chance, that no matter what he'll be there. Maybe even their first I love you slipping out in these vulnerable moments as they try their best to be brave going forward.

Even just small little domestic moments that would have showed how much they care for each other.

Milestones like anniversaries, valentines that they go far too over the top for, getting engaged.

They could have done so much to show Adam off rather than just have him as some side character that couldn't bare the man he was meant to marry choosing kerberos over his health and them, everything they could have had.

Established Adam/Shiro, + Young Keith.

Keith vaguely remembers his dad talking about his mother but not a whole lot. Really, the first proper relationship he gets to witness is because of Shiro.

A lot of his understanding about dating comes from what he sees from the pair of them. This does lead to some misunderstandings down the line.

Usually he tries to work out who is The Shiro or The Adam of the relationship when observing couples. Applying the logic to any kind of couple he sees regardless of their gender.

It was generally small things he applied to these couples like if someone blushed from their partner holding their hand suddenly they were more like Shiro.

Or if they liked to give little cheek kisses in public that screamed them being more Adam.

Still some things confused him especially as he grew older and learned to seperate relationships that looked straight from ones that looked gay. Maybe if he'd been around more straight couples it would have made more sense to him but he couldn't wrap his head around some of it. Like was it really expected for guys to propose to girls? What about gay couples then? And of course that brought him back to the one strong couple in his life.

He could imagine that Adam would do it more privately but more outright romantically. Shiro had always liked getting to show off Adam though so maybe it was some big event everyone got to see.

For a while he'd let the topic go, still getting used to all these odd things he hadn't known about. But one movie night with Shiro and Adam he'd decided to finally ask them about their engagement.

At first the silence made him think it was rude to ask, that he'd done something wrong. But the pair exchanged a look before smiling back at him.

Shiro broke the silence first explaining it was actually a funny story and that they'd planned to go out on this weekend trip, just them far away from everything.

As he spoke about all the fun things the pair did he could see just how much love the two had for each other, Adam's hand stroking over Shiro's whilst watching him explain.

As he got to the part where he'd taken out his ring box preparing himself to go for it, Adam takes over explaining that when Shiro had looked up he was beaten to it. Both of them having shocked expressions the second they saw the boxes in each other's hand. Neither daring to move as they processed it all.

When they did they both laughed and embraced each other, giggling about it before finally deciding to exchange their rings to each other then and there.

Pre-canon events. Established Adam/Shiro + somewhat familial kind bonds with Young Keith.

Shiro gets involved with the kids at the Garrison, Adam expects it. They love him and he loves being someone trustworthy to them. So when Shiro tells him about Keith, he can see that familiar sparkle in his eye.

What he didn't expect, was to also immediately want to bond with the little guy.

Of course it takes a while for them to slowly work their way in Keiths life but the second he stops fighting them on it, he practically slots in place. Like a little sibling neither of them got to have.

It's no real surprise when Shiro starts trying to impress Keith, as an only child he must have been craving for someone with similiar experiences to him. So Adam lets them have their time together alone, says nothing if he sees Shiro sneaking out to sort things out. He'd by lying if he said that he wasn't affected by Keith's presence in his life too.

It's a standard day like any other when Keith enters their apartment, throwing his bag down and calling out their names. Adam can't hear him over the music he has playing. So Keith decides to sneak into the room and loudly join in.

It's on this day that Adam realises how they can bond.

It's Adam who teaches Keith about different music genres, wanting to explore what Keith knows or likes. And whilst Adam doesn't get the whole emo music thing, he'll try to learn if Keith likes it.

When Shiro returns home later that day he finds the pair dramatically singing along to some musical that Adam had tried to explain to him once. He pauses for a moment just to check he's not asleep because yup that's his fiance and brother, by all but blood, jumping around with hairbrush 'microphones' dueting to some cheesy musical number.

Context for this one is everyone is alive, what season 8? Nope, never happened, what do you mean. Established Adam/Shiro.

After the war things are difficult for a while. At some point Shiro knew he'd have to give a full recap of events to Adam, trying his best to dodge around the mention of his death, the clone or anything about the astral plane.

It takes him a while to process it all, rightfully so, his fiance is still alive after all.

During this time period they still hang out together, Adam sharing bits and pieces of his life whilst Shiro was gone, giving context to the dodgy timeline of events Keith told him once.

But as more time goes on, they fall back into a familiar routine. It starts small with hand holding, cheek kisses etc. At some point date night returns, then later on they move back in together.

And even though Shiro feels like Adam would still want to keep their former fiance title, he one day decides to take their old rings and get them adjusted.

Looking at them reminds him of how young and naive they were when they got together. Your typical highschool sweethearts.

He remembers how nervous he was when he bought Adams ring, stressing out majorly over if it was enough, was it too soon (as if they weren't together for years and basically already married outside of legally.) He couldn't afford anything too fancy back then, but he needed Adam to know that he was committed. And luckily, he said yes. The symbolism being far more important than the cost.

Of course, he didn't know that Adam had kept his ring on the entire time, some part of him hoping Shiro would return.

This time, he decides that he wants the ring to be a bit more showy, add something sparkly or colourful that really makes it stand out. And so he spends a really long time asking about options and trying to decide what they can do. Eventually he finds the perfect option.

Cue Shiro being just as nervous as younger him when he proposed the first time. Adam knows somethings up but can't pinpoint what until the moment finally happens and he hears the question. "Will you still marry me?" And that charming smile Shiro does sweeps him off his feet once again.

When they finally do get married, Adam can't wait for all the day he gets to tell people about his husband who wanted to marry him twice.

(Imagine everyone lives by the end of the story) Established Adam/Shiro + Chosen family between them and the younger paladins.

When Adam hears about the paladins coming home he's desperate to be there for their arrival. Nervous but excited at the idea of having Shiro home and safe with him.

Cue their arrival. Lance, Hunk and Pidge still go off towards their family at first. Keith is making sure Kosmo is fine. Shiro apon scanning the room, sees Adam and his face lights up. They run towards each other, words left unspoken as they hug each other. A silent promise to forgive the past and focus on the now of their relationship.

When they finally seperate, Shiro wipes away Adams tears before gesturing for Keith to join them for a second. As he comes over, Adam intertwines his hand with Shiros metal one, a small acknowledgement that he'd love him regardless and gives a gentle squeeze as he greets Keith. Met only with an equally gentle squeeze and a soft look from Shiro.

Of course he remembers the kid they basically helped raise, he can see pieces of Shiro mirrored in the young adult before him. A sudden wave of pride washes over him as his gaze moves between his chosen family.

It's only when the other paladins join them that Adam realises how close they've all become. But they embrace him into their group just as easily. A new start now they're back, old and new family standing around him.

None of what had happened between Shiro and him mattering in those moments. They were alive. They came back to him. That's what counted.

Could be done as Shiro/Keith or Shiro + Keith.

When Shiro is stuck in the black lion, he has a one way ability to connect to whoever is in the lion.

Cue the paladins trying out the lion and Shiro getting to know through their emotions where everyone is at.

When it comes to Keith it really affects him. He so desperately wants to be able to tell him he's proud, that he's got this, that Shiro is still watching over him. But of course he can't.

The whole thing so reminiscent of the past, the same kid who blew him away, sat where he used to sit, ready enough to lead voltron.

The black lion and Shiro are able to maintain a strong bond this way and even if Keith can't hear or feel Shiros prescence, he is always there, keeping an eye on things. Black offers him some stability in those moments where he feels more of an emotional response.

He sees the hurt in the way Keith handles things at first. Can imagine just how painful losing someone so close to him must be. That inability to reach out to him, reaffirm that he's right there, that they're both ok.

There is an unspoken longing they both share in these times, thoughts never really straying too far from each other. Emotions always seem to be more elevated here. And Shiro knows deep inside himself, he needs to get back to Keith somehow, someway.

Pre-Canon events but after Shiro goes off to Kerberos. (Established Shiro/Adam. Adam & Keith friendship/parental-ish role)

At first Keith really does try to keep everything going. For him, for Shiro, for Adam.

But over time he can see the way Adam's smile begins to feel more disingenuous. They talk less whenever they spend time together. It's clear there's a lot of emotion going unspoken. It's hard for them both.

Keith's grades start to slip when it surpasses the time when Shiro was meant to come back. No one speaks directly about it, no one around him seems to acknowledge Shiro anymore.

It affects him more than they suspected, snapping at people in angry outbursts. Bringing him right back to square one.

Shiro had been a calming presence for him, kind and unassuming. Someone who never judged him and someone so ready to help wherever he may have needed it. So of course he was a positive force to help Keith adjust.

It's only when he starts to fall back into the "problem child" role that the Garrison start debating on what to do.

Cue Adam trying his best to be there more for Keith, realising that he's hurting just as badly. Trying to even talk about the topic now because if addressing it will help Keith then maybe it's worth his own pain.

And for a while, it works. They seem improvement. Not entirely going away but it was better. Keith still holds some anger because why won't anyone tell him what really is happening? It's barely ever discussed and everyone just treats him like some kid.

When the Garrison decide to make it public, it sends Keith into a spiral. He knows it's a cover up, there's no way it isn't.

Even Adam can't get Keith to calm down this time around. He tried, really he did, but with the grief it was hard to focus his efforts fully on Keith. The kicker being that Keith refused to risk Adam's job with his anger. He wasn't the Garrisons Golden Boy, he couldn't jeopardise his job to help the "problem kid" they both knew it.

It was inevitable that Keith would get kicked out. They knew that much. Still Adam ensured he had enough supplies to keep him going for a while, put in a good word with some local businesses so Keith could get a job and ensured that his Dad's place was still liveable.

Their final goodbye was bittersweet, not much spoken but Keith initiated the last hug.

Post-Pidge telling everyone she wasn't actually a guy.

Transmasc Keith + Questioning Pidge discuss gender and what it means to them.

In which Keith tells her about how Shiro was the person to largely help him transition, showing off a few Polaroids of a couple pride events they went to together over the years.

Pidge telling him about how she doesn't mind people seeing her as a guy but not quite having the vocabulary to express everything. Cue them spending hours going over different things, revealing stuff to each other and just learning and bonding. Testing out different labels and pronouns as they go.
